“North West Ko Samui”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

IMO the esatern part of the island is over crowded and yes although it is beautiful I personally don't like all the hussel and bustle that goes on in Chaweng. This part and specially the southwestern part of Ko samui are the best.

“Bang Po beach”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

This beach is usually very quiet as it is located by several residential and small resorts, plus it is protected by an offshore reef, so the waters more often than not are calm.
Not quite as soft/ sandy as some Samui beaches but the peace and quiet outweighs that!

If you look you will find a restaurant or two to provide lunch!

“Real Samui”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

For me this is the area / beach you go to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng, Lamai and even Maenam.
You can spend a day on a quiet beach, not being hassled by vendors, eating lunch in a local beach side restaurant and generally getting a feel for the real Samui, not the commercialized one.
Bang Po is the kind of place people retire near, the kind of place you could spend your later years just chilling out and having long lazy days.
The beach / sand quality is not the finest on the island but in my opinion the solitude you can find here more than makes up for it.

“Great little beach, before March”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

My partner and I lived in Bang Por for 5 months in 2013 and used this beach regularly. From Jan - Mar it's a great beach that's rarely used and sea level was great for swimming. After March the sea levels dropped and there were rocks that made swimming difficult. If you walk for 3-5 mins you'll feel like it's your own private beach.

“Pleasant enough but not the best”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

This is the nearest beach to our hotel and while it has sand, sea and palm trees, I think it is not among the best beaches on the island. It is a bit scruffy, there is not much sand (perhaps a few feet at high tide) and the waters are not crystal clear for snorkelling. There are the usual pleasant beach bars and restaurants though and massage places too. For anywhere else I would say very good but for Thailand perhaps average, certainly better than a wet weekend in Skegness though!
