“First Impressions Do Matter”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

Point reviews on the different areas of this Pattaya Hotel, stayed May 10 to 13

1. Reception - well if you want to be welcomed in the supposed world of Thai smiles and hospitality then do not come here, looks like the staff at all levels find it impossible to be happy at work, let alone to see another guest arrive, shows what management of this place is, very ????? No information was provided on what the hotel offers, where things are in the hotel, what time was breakfast, all they wanted as a 1,000 THB as a deposit and then get out of their faces

2. Appearance - when we fist walked in we thought OH NO!, the lobby has not had any TLC for sometime and looking around reception we were dreading what would it be like on the floors above

3. Service - if you like service with no smiles at all then this is your place, just do not ask reception any questions as no answers will be forth coming

4. The Room - well our room 606, of course on the 6th floor, surprisingly clean and well appointed, the bathroom had a separate shower and bath tub/jacuzzi while tghe decor is a bit 80's, drab and dark it was 80 square metres, a big kitchen and living area, big compfortable bed, 2 TVs, 2 balconies, quite a good room to escape the boring and somewhat unattractive staff in reception

5. Breakfast - again the staff made you feel uninvited but the selection on what is on offer is pretty good and fresh, the hot food remains ho,t the salad, fruit, juices and other cool offerings remaining cool, different selection of hot dishes each day of our stay made breakfast more interesting than some places we have stayed at, so all in all very good

6. The Pool - on the second floor which is where the gym is also located, a bit small but plenty of shade, umbrellas and quite refreshing and clean

7. Location - quite good really, plenty of restaurants, bars and entertainment about, walking street in just 2 klms away, did not experience any noise at night but this maybe because we were 6 floors up.

Overall the LK Royal Suite Hotel is pretty good, needs a bit of colour to liven the place up which may even make the staff happier, the staff are the downside, maybe some of the staff would be better off driving one of the numerous songtels that cruise up and down the streets of Pattaya

Would we stay again, maybe, would we recommend this place, maybe not as there are so many other choices in Pattaya

I stayed here for 8 nights and was pleasantly surprised, good location, not to far to walk to beach, bars etc. I was on the 6th floor so pretty quiet. Nice pool and gym that were always very quiet. Excellent buffet breakfast. I was in the building across the road from the main hotel but it was fine. There is buoilding work going on at the complex next door but I didn't find it a problem. Would stay here again if I can get a good deal on price, 1700bht a night!!!

I stayed here from the 28th March to 7th April 2014. The hotel was very clean and very well presented, Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a very good location close to all the bars and shops and market stalls, The pool area was very nice but not many sunbeds as the pool area is not massive. Breakfast was nice there was an egg station and a large selection of fruit and a large selection of Thai food. The only bad thing I have to say about the hotel is that that was some work going on the top floor which was a bit annoying but that's about it. I also stayed in one of the suite's which was very nice.

Room Tip: if you are going to stay in one of the suite's try and get a room at the back it's not so no...

We stayed at this hotel again from 7th March to 21st March 2014. I have written several reviews of this Hotel over the many years and we keep going back. I have read some of the more negative reviews and I will comment on them first. Yes I agree the Manager of the Hotel is "The Invisible Man" You do have to cross the road to get to the swimming pool/spa/sauna/gym. unless you are staying in the one bedroom (84 sq m suites which we always stay in) If you are not staying in a one bedroom suite then there are far better choices in Pattaya. On this occasion we found that the Hotel is looking tired and could do with a paint job. The pool area was looking awful. They use to have staff to serve you drinks now it seems this is now a bit of a storage area and no staff. There were only two umbrellas and one was beyond repair (There is a big shady area under the 3rd floor but sitting here doesn't have that tropical feel. There were empty water bottles blowing around the pool and many of the sun lounge mattresses were stained. The Gym is well below standard and pretty much a waste of time. I have never seen anyone use the conference room. Maybe this could be converted to a modern gym. Besides the night receptionist the rest of the reception staff could do with smiling practice and maybe offer a welcome drink The House maids were excellent. The lady who seems to be in charge is brilliant and will go out her way to meet any request
The one bedroom suites have finally had the two television upgraded into flat screen TV's but they should have bought TV's with a USB port. They seriously need to get new Television aerials as many of the channels have poor picture quality.
The breakfast buffet style was adequate but there was no bacon and several dishes were not hot enough. They do have a very good omelet/egg chef but no bacon to go with it. They also need a commercial toaster as there were queues to toast the bread
We will more than likely stay at the LK Royal again because of 3 reasons. 1: Location 2: Separate bedroom and 3: A full size 2 door refrigerator (which is rare as hens teeth)
If anyone can recommend something better in Pattaya I'd love to know about it.

Room Tip: This Hotel is only worth staying in if you get a one bedroom suite. Be careful what you book.

This was a great place to stay! Maybe I was lucky? Considering other reviews, I may have been lucky, since I did not have issues. I didn't have time to use pool nor restaurant for breakfast (I used restaurant for brunch, when waiting for my ride back to BKK: pasta was very good).

No problem with Internet connection - which is super important for me, since I never stop running! I need sometimes to grab lots of binary data, locally. Everything was working well and as advertised (quite fast for such place, around 2Mbps dl)! Suite was clean. AC was quiet. I even used DVD player to watch some movie I brought in with me from BKK. Staff was very friendly, I felt welcomed. Only problem was with laundry: it takes 1 full day for a cycle.
My windows were overlooking Soi Buakhao, and there was noise form the street, but I only noticed it when paying attention to it. I was on a lower floor (it was 2nd or 3rd).
Location is great for nightlife, easy access to anywhere using song-taews. 10b, some 15b or nice, refreshing walks. Many small Thai restaurants around (I survived ;-)). New bars (all kinds of bars) in near-by Soi Diana were better for me then Walking Street venues. Walk between Soi Buakhao and 2nd street is great, and vivid!
There is very nice coffee shop on the street, about 10 minutes walk towards Soi Diana. There is no Starbucks on Soi Buakhao, or The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, unless crossing over to the Beach Street (also about 10 minutes walk) - that is the biggest issue for me. I want good coffee all around the clock. I've stayed there several nights, and would like to repeat.

Room Tip: Stay in rooms/suites in the same building where the reception desk is (main entrance on Soi Buakhao...

The fitness centre is below average, dirty black rubber mats - the black gets all over your clothes shoes and the equipment. Some machines that are broken, hot room that has 2 small fans (one which is not adjustable at all), not connected to the hotel air conditioning. Doors are locked at 8:00pm - why ? Dissapointed because the fitness centre is one of the reasons I booked this hotel.

Breakfast has many things on offer but they are all cold except for the made to order eggs. Free ice water, coffee and tea on offer in reception

Rooms have been covered off in depth in other reviews. Plain, old and noisy air conditioning. I would not recommend this hotel. At best it averages a 3 star rating from me.
