First trip to Thailand

On arrival at the Baraquada I was welcomed with a cocktail and room ready to enter. I stayed for 4 nights 3 of which in the Deluxe Room and the last night in the Grand Baraquda Suite. all of which were ideal for the stay.

I enjoyed my time at the hotel and will be returning in September 2019.

Am an Accor Plus Gold member and decided to check out Hotel Baraquda since it is one of the highest-ranking property within Accor in Pattaya city. Gold status recognition was excellent and service throughout the property was excellent. Was upgraded to a suite which was nice and I do love the jacuzzi. Staff were all friendly. Would like to thank None, Meaw and Leo from Front Office for greeting us and attending to all our questions.

Rooms are ageing and I do hope full refurbishments would be done soon. Aircon was slightly noisy and room smell abit musty. Overall, if I needed to be back in Pattaya, I would stay here for the service and location. Hopefully, the rooms would be updated by then.

We booked 3 rooms here for 5 nights.
Upon arrival it seemed fine, a welcome drink and smiles upon check in, however 2 of our rooms weren’t ready due to late check outs? The time was 2-15pm, surely they should have been ready, especially with an 11 month old baby. We decided to go eat at the Sea restaurant, which is very over priced - but we used the Eatigo app to get 50% discount on food. After a short while the receptionist came to us to inform us the rooms were ready.
The rooms are so dated and need some TLC, marks everywhere and the rooms smelt of a musky damp.
Even touching the desk or the cupboards felt dirty and sticky.
After a complaint to reception, they offered us another room as we feared for our baby’s health with the damp, but they offered us a room that had been smoked in, and their answer was ‘the old customer smoked here in the room but we charged him for doing so’ this is not acceptable again - why give us a damp smelling room then say we can have a smoke smelling room?
The lady named Gif Gaff was very understanding with our concerns and took a torrent of abuse from me regarding the welfare of my baby.
Finally we decided enough was enough, we decided to check out and get a refund - which we are in the process of getting.
If it was not for Gif Gaff and how she handled the situation I would have seriously lost my head. Thank you Gif Gaff you are a credit to the hospitality industry.
Also there is no way this is a 5 star hotel as advertised. Maybe a 3-4 star. Impossible to be a 5 star, we are staying now at the Avani Pattaya and this is a 5star, maybe your owners should come and see what a 5 star looks like. Not just charge 5 star prices for dated, damp smelling rooms.🤬🤬🤬🤬

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Hotel Baraquda Pattaya MGallery by Sofitel. I am sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Please allow me to clarify some points below.

After investigation, it has come to my notice that your rooms were ready upon arrival. However, you requested all 3 rooms to be together on a high floor with a good view. My staff informed you that this would take time, and you agreed it was ok and went to have food at the Sea restaurant.

In regards to the hotel facilities, I have well noted the fact that the overall designs along with accommodation facilities have not met your expectations. We have started to renovate several floors in the past few months and are planning to pursue this renovation process until all rooms are complete. We apologize that the initial rooms offered to you did not meet your expectations. However, after investigation, it has come to my notice that we offered you our new nonsmoking rooms when you raised this matter, to which you declined as you wanted compensation instead.

May I end by saying that I am so terribly sorry that your experience did not match that of so many of our other guests and would hope that you might give us another chance to be of service to you in the future to hopefully redeem ourselves and live up to your expectations of an MGallery property.

I was honestly a bit disappointed by the hotel (and most generally by the last M Gallery I have been able to visit).

When we first arrived the welcome was great, staff was friendly and checked us in efficiently. The concept of the hotel is nice and refreshing with white and blue colors all over.

Regarding the room, it was a nice and big one but the problem was the smell. It smell humidity which was a bit disturbing when we arrived. Another negative point is the ceiling paint that needs a little bit of refurbishment and the shower head. The shower is spacious but the shower head was broken (water coming down from above the shower head) and probably full of limestone as water jets were spraying in every awkward directions. It probably just need some deep cleaning with appropriate products but this has not been done for a long time I suppose.

The breakfast buffer is very nice. Great choice and the staff is extremely friendly!

We visited during the last weekend of June, this is the rainy season (but we did not get much rain) so it means low season for the hotel and we could see it in the hotel in general. There is no atmosphere at the pool, no lounge/background music, not all bed are covered with the mattresses, paper waste near the pool present on Saturday was still there Sunday afternoon at the same spot, etc.

All in all, I would have given the hotel a 3,5/5 but Trip Advisor only allow a 3 or a 4 and I don't think that during low season, this hotel deserves a 4. The story might be different in high season when there's another sphere and ambiance. That being said, I want to stress the fact that the staff is extremely kind.

We have been to this hotel for 10 years( since it was d2 hotel) Besides no seaview room, everything was perfect; staffs; breakfast; room service, food, pool etc.
The location is in the center of pattaya, ealking distance to walking street and to pier!
this is our favourite hotel!

location was closed, baht bus right infront, malls, walking street, and lk metro is walking distance

the staff and the room was perfect, the room for the location is priced perfect

no problems with additional 1 guest check in
