This new hotel has very helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and spotless. Although away from the bars and nightlife the hotel minivan or golf buggy is able to transport you to the nearest baht bus route or take you to the major shopping areas such as Central Festival. The only disappointment was the buffet breakfast. Jamesons Irish Pub where breakfast is provided has a fantastic a la carte menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately the buffet breakfast as part of the hotel deal was unimaginative, very limited in food choice and not up to Jamesons usual high standard of quality. The only choice for eggs was hard boiled and a few times food tray choices were empty. This is an easy problem to remedy. I will be back next year for sure! I didn't use room service or the spa and swimming pool. The gymnasium looked very impressive.

But I did find that the bathroom could do with some fixing. The basin tap is too high and is awkward to work around and the plug also would not seal. Apart from these two points I would highly recommend your Hotel.

A good quality hotel for £32 exec room per night. Only a 2 minute walk to the 2nd road where there is plenty of beer bars and entertainment away from the crowds of Walking Street. Less than 10 minute walk to Big C and the beach. No baht buses around this soi but plenty of cheap moto taxis available plus the free shuttle service provided by the hotel to the main roads. Rooms were furnished to a high standard including 2 bottles of free water and a newspaper everyday. A 7/11 store for everyday needs is next door as is the Irish bar, Jamesons, for some excellent food and drink at a very reasonable price. The downside (if a little picky) is the swimming pool which is 75% undercover with the other 25% in the shade which makes for a cold swim! Also the PCs in the room were slow, not sure if that is because of the connection or because it is a basic PC. Overall, a good hotel at good daily rates. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, advice in English was given about a number of things if required.

Arrived from Sydney into Bangkok late Sunday afternoon 10/4/11.
I was greeted on arrival by Security/Doorman who took my bags into the hotel foyer.
Reception desk was very welcoming and polite and explained everything in detail about my Check inn & room.
The room was very clean and very nicely furnished and I felt very comfortable as soon as I entered through the door.
The Security/Doorman took my bags inside the room and also explained to me everything I needed to know about the rooms features and Mini bar with complimentary Tea & Coffee.
Nice Big Bathroom with plenty of hot & cold running water with great water pressure!
Room comes with its own Desk Top computer but I had my own Laptop with me and found that the internet connection worked very well. (Free)
Hotel has a nice little pool and great little gym.
The Nova Gold is only a 5 minute walk to Second Road and I like the hotels position as it is next to a Family Mart. & 50 meters walk to the Irish/English Pub.
I would have no problem in recommending this hotel to any of my friends and family.
Please look at the hotel photo's I have taken to backup my review.

Someone's being overly generous in assigning this hotel as a four-star hotel.

The rooms were indeed well-decorated and comfortable, with all the amenities you'd need.

But that's where the good part ends. The reception staff sits near the elevators and doors. Yet, they don't greet you as you enter or leave. When dealing with them, they didn't seem to have much professional courtesy.

The wireless internet didn't work more often than it worked. And being in a quiet part of town, you can't walk to a nearby internet cafe.

And here's the worst part. The hotel is situated on a bunch of quiet, curvy and unmarked backstreets. This made it difficult figuring out how to walk to the beach. The hotel should have handed out a flyer instructing where to walk.

And once you figured out the geography, you'd notice it still took 20 minutes to walk to Second Road. There are few (if any) baht buses plying the route, leaving motor-taxies your only option if you need a ride.

Excellent furnishings in the room and reception areas. Great bathroom. At 1500ish we couldn't have asked for more, and certainly didn't expect as much. The only annoying thing was that the internet didn't work.
