We have just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at the Cape Dara Resort. The hotel is really nice and modern hotel and had a boutique feel.
We felt the following opinions about these areas:
Hotel Reception and Front off house staff:
-Bell boy, cart driver and security staff always helpful, friendly and courteous. Prh.ovided a free golf cart to dolphin roundabout which is a nice touch and helpful in hot weather.Reception staff were always able to assist us with any enquiries although some staff didnt speak the best of English.
We had a deluxe corner room with ocean view and panormic views over Pattaya Bay.The room had ample space and storage and a good sized bathroom with shower and bathtub with floor to ceiling windows.
The room was of a good size and all furnishings were in good condition. Also had a mini fridge which was useful for keeping drinks cool.
The hotel has a reasonably sized gym with a mixture of cardio and resistance equipment. All equipment was in good condition and seemed to be relatively new.
Breakfast/ Hotel Food:
Breakfast was typical buffet style as would expect with one of these standards of hotel. Good selection eastern and western foods although choices didn't change on a day-to-day basis. So after a number of days we did become bored.
One nice touch with the breakfast is a serve yourself coffee machine which had mocha's, lattes etc at no extra cost.
We treated ourselves to the Afternoon Tea and several cakes / smoothies from Mellow Cafe which were all tasty and the cakes were some of the best hotel cakes we have had in recent years.
The food on offer at the pool bar was reasonably priced and good portion size although staff were not pro-actively trying to sell refreshments.
We used both pools, one which is located next to the beach and the main pool just of from reception. Both pools were nice and refreshing and clean with ample space for sunbathing and swimming. Hotel was not that busy so never had a problem getting a sunlounger.
Main pool area also had comfy, quiet relaxing shaded seating area which was nice.
Hotel grounds were neatly kept and clean.
Unfortunately, the standard of in room cleaning and corridors upstairs was amongst the worst we have seen in numerous stays across Asia. The maid appeared to not clean any surfaces in the room, did not clean the balcony area at all and infrequently replenished toiletries. As an example two empty shampoo bottles were left untouched by the side of the bath for the duration of our stay. In the corridor I saw several waste items which the maid did not remove for over 6 days.
In fairness, cleanliness in all other areas of the hotel was without fault.
In conclusion we would recommend staying at Cape Dara to others and my return ourselves as the hotel has nice amenities and helpful friendly staff. Our only reservation would be whether the atmosphere and service would be the same if the hotel was busy as the hotel appeared to have low staffing numbers.
