“Fantastic Stay”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at the Cape Dara Resort. The hotel is really nice and modern hotel and had a boutique feel.

We felt the following opinions about these areas:

Hotel Reception and Front off house staff:
-Bell boy, cart driver and security staff always helpful, friendly and courteous. Prh.ovided a free golf cart to dolphin roundabout which is a nice touch and helpful in hot weather.Reception staff were always able to assist us with any enquiries although some staff didnt speak the best of English.

Hotel Room:
We had a deluxe corner room with ocean view and panormic views over Pattaya Bay.The room had ample space and storage and a good sized bathroom with shower and bathtub with floor to ceiling windows.
The room was of a good size and all furnishings were in good condition. Also had a mini fridge which was useful for keeping drinks cool.

Gym:
The hotel has a reasonably sized gym with a mixture of cardio and resistance equipment. All equipment was in good condition and seemed to be relatively new.

Breakfast/ Hotel Food:
Breakfast was typical buffet style as would expect with one of these standards of hotel. Good selection eastern and western foods although choices didn't change on a day-to-day basis. So after a number of days we did become bored.
One nice touch with the breakfast is a serve yourself coffee machine which had mocha's, lattes etc at no extra cost.
We treated ourselves to the Afternoon Tea and several cakes / smoothies from Mellow Cafe which were all tasty and the cakes were some of the best hotel cakes we have had in recent years.
The food on offer at the pool bar was reasonably priced and good portion size although staff were not pro-actively trying to sell refreshments.

Pool/Hotel Grounds:
We used both pools, one which is located next to the beach and the main pool just of from reception. Both pools were nice and refreshing and clean with ample space for sunbathing and swimming. Hotel was not that busy so never had a problem getting a sunlounger.
Main pool area also had comfy, quiet relaxing shaded seating area which was nice.
Hotel grounds were neatly kept and clean.

Cleanliness:
Unfortunately, the standard of in room cleaning and corridors upstairs was amongst the worst we have seen in numerous stays across Asia. The maid appeared to not clean any surfaces in the room, did not clean the balcony area at all and infrequently replenished toiletries. As an example two empty shampoo bottles were left untouched by the side of the bath for the duration of our stay. In the corridor I saw several waste items which the maid did not remove for over 6 days.
In fairness, cleanliness in all other areas of the hotel was without fault.

In conclusion we would recommend staying at Cape Dara to others and my return ourselves as the hotel has nice amenities and helpful friendly staff. Our only reservation would be whether the atmosphere and service would be the same if the hotel was busy as the hotel appeared to have low staffing numbers.

We stayed at the Cape Dara hotel, Pattaya in May 2014 for 7 nights. The hotel is great value for money and just needs to make a few changes to achieve the 5 star rating that it currently has.

- The hotel: The grounds of the hotel are stunning with two beautiful pools. The pools are busiest in the evening when a great happy hour features at the pool bar - I recommend the cocktails! However, the rooms although they look great do not have the cleanliness standards of a five star hotels for example marks on the walls etc. We also could not access the free wifi in our room - we reported this issue to reception but never heard anything back (we assume it was the signal strength as we were on the 20th floor).

- Shuttle service: The hotel has a great shuttle service taking you to dolphin roundabout or Mikes Mall - The driver made a real effort to speak English to us and make us feel at ease, an asset to the Cape Dara team. The location of the hotel is great - far enough away from the sites of Walking street but near enough to see the city at your own leisure.

- Breakfast: A wide selection of food was available for breakfast. I would also like to thank Fon for the most delicious omelettes and beautiful smile every morning. However, I do think in a five star hotel all guests should be seated and bought tea/coffee and cutelry to their table which only happened once out of our 7 day stay here.

The staff: At first the staff did not seem overly friendly but as our stay progressed we received fantastic service by genuinely nice people. Thanks again for the help getting us a taxi at 5am on a Sunday morning when our transfer did not turn up : )

Room Tip: High floor = best sea views but beware you may loose access to the Wifi

On behalf of management team, we glad to hear that you were treated well as here we instill certain values of Cape Dara's DNA and train our staff to respect guests as their own honored relatives. I will pass your compliment to “Fun”, who always smiles and cook delicious omelet. She must be thrilled to know that you appreciated her.

My husband and I were very worried about the coup and curfew in Thailand. We still decided to come as we would like to have a short getaway for our anniversary. We ended up staying in Pattaya for 3 nights. Cape Dara's staff are real nice and helpful. Hotel ambience is perfect for us, not very crowded, not noisy. We had moments of peace with the amazing sunset. We stayed in the sea view deluxe room. Highly recommend if you would like to try this resort. The bathroom has a panoramic seaview, which made us very fasinated! We would love to come back anytime!

Room Tip: Sea view is a must have! You will fall in love with that!

Stayed for 2 nights. Excellent property. Quiet surroundings. Kid friendly. The 2 pools are also quite nice. Service was prompt. Check in and check out hardly took anytime. Overall a very good experience.

- pools are great
- 50% of staff provides good service, remaining 50% is way below standard with extremely poor attitude include front office manager, Pan
- coffee at radius needs to be improved

we arrived around 1 something on 31 May, Saturday. they assigned room 2401 which is a corner room with an amazing veiw to us, however, the room was not ready after 2pm. we went to their all-day-dining restaurant, radius for lunch. when we went back to pick up the keys, they gave our room to someone else and relocated us to 2306. the room was ok but the toilet bowl is leaking. we called service centre and they sent a housekeeper to dry the floor instead of getting engineering department to get it checked. yet the housekeeper accused me using the shower next to toilet bowl. i went down to the front desk and requested for a new room. they claimed that rooms are sold out, only one smaller one is available. We did not take it, of course, the hotel did not follow up.

It was a nice pleasure to stay at Cape Dara Hotel. I would recommend to stay in Cape Dara if hotel quality, food and sea view are most important to you.

Room was very spacious, clean and well designed. The bathroom equipped with panaroma sea view which was fabulous. It was the best hotel bathroom I have ever visited.

Food was very good from both room service and lobby restaurants. It was pleasant surprise to me on the food quality even though for breakfast buffet. I did not expect much from breakfast buffet anyway but the quality exceeded my expectation.

The only consequence is on the beachfront. The tide was low when we visited, hence it was very rocky and we did not have chance to swim. Good thing is that the hotel has very nice swimming pool which you can also enjoy instead.

I stayed here during April 29 to May 1st. Cape dara was a short drive from Bangkok. Very spacious rooms with excellent views. The amenities within the room was quite limited with very basic but pleasant. The lobby area to the pool area was decorated in a mixed Thai furniture - Art Deco style. Both of the pools were infinity and offer good views of the ocean/beach. I would recommend for a quick beach trip from Bangkok. There can be more varieties in the breakfast/lunch buffet, but they made it up with live music in the lobby/lounge in the evening. Easy to get out to eat local seafood elasewhere.
