“Portions Huge Take Out Best Option.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2012

Have ate jolly friar twice and i dont understand why the other to comments are bad.

The food was lovely a small portion of fish and chips = 100 baht soo cheap and its enough for two people. the large one is huge and at only 160 baht for the meal that can easily be shared among two.

Spent 300 baht on one small fish and chips and one large wit mushy peas and the food was excellent. also gave plenty of salt and vinegar.

recommend you take out as haven't experienced restaurant. MUST TRY.

“Horrible soggy chips..Tea not english”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

Went for the first time into the Jolly Friar...clean and had aircon....thats where the credits end im afraid...I went for scampi and chips with a "English" tea and a water....the scampi wasnt too bad.. but the chips (homemade) were awful...no crispness and soggy i left half of them even though i was hungry...English Tea is not Heluvia or whatever thay serve here..might as well be Liptons yellow as it tasted like it...why not Tetleys or a proper UK brand..you are serving mainly English clientele....Then i turned round to get the bill... well there were about 8 people talking around two tables..obviously employees..not looking at the customers at all...had t shout Checkbin to get their attention...Poor experience ...sorry.

“Bad management/ bad food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

Went to another fish n chips place in Pattaya named Gooses (?) and didn't have any problems other than the special wasn't so good. But the Friar made me sick and the food was greasy. Coke was expensive for a small dive. Go elsewhere; lots of restaurants in the area.
