Frankly Pattaya is the last place in Thailand that i would want to spend a holiday. it's a grimey city, really the opposite of the picturesque beach scenes most people conjure up when imagining vacationing South East Asia. While i was generally not amazed by the woodlands resort itself, the central goal of this review is to make potential travelers seriously reconsider the decision to visit Pattaya itself. what limited sand area exists on the beach is littered with trash and broken glass. trash floats in and out with the tide. it is not a city i would recommend visiting, particularly when there are so many amazing beach towns in Thailand! I read an earlier review condemning the resort for "no longer being a family friendly establishment" and i DO agree with that reviewer's criticism that you cannot escape the cigarette smoke at the pool or in the lounge area. However, i have to say that it is much more of a family friendly environment than any place i saw outside of the hotel's gates. amidst the decay, debauchery, and debris strewn streets of pattaya the woodland resort stands out as the most family friendly location. my suggestion if you are looking for a family friendly location is to try somewhere that isn't pattaya. overall i would rate the hotel as 'fine'. I stayed in a Deluxe Room. The room itself was nice enough, large, clean and sparsely but tastefully decorated. The bathroom was a bit of a different story. first there was water damage to the ceiling above the toilet which was not nice to look at (i attached a picture here) but more importantly the shower was a disaster. first it had zero water pressure, seriously i had trouble rinsing the shampoo out of my hair and not only was the water barely trickling out of the faucet, it was also erratic in terms of temperature. i like to take hot but not scalding showers, however the water was only hot if it was turned all the way to the left. but turned all the way to the left was tooo hot. unfortunately any attempt to move it to the right resulted in the shower becoming ice cold about 10 seconds later. when i first reported the problem to the front desk they were very friendly and reassured me that they would fix the problem. i think someone did look at it, but for whatever reason they were unable to fix it and the problem persisted. i asked several more times and each time the friendly staff sent someone to try to fix it but it was never resolved. i once had a similar problem with a shower at a different resort here in thailand and the staff at that hotel was much more proactive about fixing the problem and eventually transfered me to another room when they could not fix the problem and i think the staff at Woodlands could have done a better job of handling the problem. on the positive side, I actually enjoyed the breakfast buffet as it offered lots of fresh fruit. i can't recommend the room service as i ordered a white fish and scallops dish and was rather unimpressed by their blandness but the italian restaurant that is attached through the hotel courtyard is pretty good. the pool area, aside from the constant barrage of cigarette smoke, is nice and there are plenty of lounge chairs. you have to pay by the hour or by the day for wireless in your room, which i didn't appreciate. In general the hotel was fine, but it did not live up to the rave reviews i read on tripadvisor and i won't be back, but then again, i won't be back to pattaya either...

I selected purely on its reputation of a children friendly resort and was never disappointed. The hotel has a good play area and many activities lined up for children. My daughter was for a good time engaged in them giving me and my wife ample time for relaxation and romance.
Hotel room was beautifully decorated with a fully stocked mini bar. The room had a huge and comfortable bed. Bathroom had a big tub good for two a with all the lotions by its side.
Hotel has beautiful manicured lawns and nice scenery.
Breakfast Buffet was very good with ample choices for everyone. We had dinner in one of their restaurants which was exorbitantly priced.
Service quality of the hotel is of high standards. Hotel staff greeted you with a smile every time. Check in and checkout was effortless.
The hotel is definitely expensive but I will consider it as a value for money. You walk out with a smile.

We had been many times with family and also company, but this year he hotel is completely difference! Now everywhere people smoke 24/7, bad smell from cigarette in lobby, beside pool. We can ot get fresh air anymore in the hotel. Staffs WAS so polite but now you can not find easily a nice staff. Breakfast is low quality. Now we understand why it is no kids around like before anymore. Bad environment for family. We will not come back again and we will inform all our friends which stayed here before. It is totally wrong here!!!!

First, we would like to thank you "beyoursunshine" for her review and feel sorry to see that her stay was not up to her satisfaction. Over the years Woodlands has welcomed thousands of satisfied customers and all its staffs have worked diligently to provide the best service and accommodation possible. We of course appreciate all praises as well as constructive criticisms. We always analyze each and every review from our past guests and take everything very seriously. Our primary goal is to improve the quality of our service and client satisfaction. Whether they are good reviews or negative we appreciate our guests input. The only way we can improve is to listen to our customers comments. Unfortunately, this review rated us one star and this is obviously not legitimate. Being blamed because of other guests behavior (smoking) is definitely not a fair comment. Woodlands is an open air resort (lobby, restaurant, bar...etc) and still offer separate section for smokers and non-smokers. We pride ourselves to be family friendly and still are, with hundreds of families staying with us each year. We once again feel sorry to see that "beyuorsunshine" was not satisfied and we thank you for your review.

This is must stay resort, must recommended resort.
There are absolutely no issues :
Staff is helpful,
Location is great
Amazing and fabulous pool. With this resort you dont need to visit the pattaya beach.
Good variety of bfast that kept on changing.
Ambience, paradise are fabulous.
5/5 points for swimming pool.
The only negative would be there should be some more international/ english speaking staff. Quiet and Cozy. Elegance and sophistication
MUST RECOMMEDED

My husband and I stopped off here for 3 nights on the way back from backpacking round Australia. We got to the Hotel at 1am and the staff were ready with a smile and a drink to two very weiry travellers. Check in was very quick and we were told all the details of what the resort had to offer and what time breakfast was. The room was very spacious and clean. Our bed was 7 foot wide! Room was situated between both pools, but heard very little noise from either. Only complaint about the room was that lighting could only be controlled by one pannel on one side of the bed. Meaning having to get up and turn lights off if your not sleeping on that side of the bed and your other half is asleep!
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Fresh bottled water provided everyday in the room. They also provide a mosquito band that you can buy for a few Bhat in the rooms as part of your mini bar, which was a great help. They do fumigate the grounds for mozzies but still saw a few about.
Breakfast was wonderful and provided a huge sellection of hot and cold foods. There are three restuarnts on the site and we tried the Italian and thai both of which were fantastic.
We also tried the Spa. The ladies were vey sweet and helpful and then they do a thai massage on you and you may feel that you would never want to pick a fight with one... they are stonge little ladies! We also had a foot massage in one of the shops in the main street which was fantastic. My husband didnt think he could sit still for a hour and loved every moment.
Very easy to pick up a Bhat bus from the Dolphin roundabout to go down to Walking Street or anywhere. Barter for the bus though they do like to take advantage of westerners. There is also a night market that opens about 1700 that is close to the roundabout that was really good and traders dont pester too much.
I would love to go back to this hotel again and again. Pattaya its self is an eye opener if you have never been somewhere like that before.
