My family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 and 8 stayed in a Deluxe Room in the Evergreen Wing. The room was spotless and very spacious. The pool was fantastic and very clean. The hotel location is close to everything one needs. When we stayed the Hotel was full but never once seemed busy. I can't comment on the reception staff as i only needed them checking in and out but the restaurant staff during where brilliant. Highly recommended for families with young children.

Only had three problems with this hotel. They broke into the safe in my room three times. Definately an inside job as they don't take all the cash, just enough so they think you won't miss it, but still enough to p--s you off. They have cctv on each floor but of course it wasn't working the 3 evenings my room was entered and robbed. Three of my friends had their safes broken into as well. After talking to a few locals in the hood we found out that this is fairly common at this hotel.
Please, do yourself a favor and give this hotel the big body swerve. ( Don't stay at the Areca Lodge Pattaya) or if for some reason you have to, don't leave cash in the safe in your room.

Room Tip: Rooms at another hotel are much safer.

I had one night in Pattaya and found this hotel by a random google search. It was well located away from the noise and yet in walking distance of the beach, walking street and markets. My room a superior double at Baht 1850 was very good indeed, large, clean and very quiet. Even the miny bar is sensibly priced.

Breakfast was ok, being standard buffet quality. The pools looked good and were well used.

there are two small gyms and having used one, airconditioning and/or a fan would have been most welcome.

At the time of writing there is a hotel being built next door and the noise may be heard from certain rooms, It may be worth asking for a room facing away from this area, In the Evergreen building I could not hear this.

I would certainly go there again,

Areca Lodge is a modern looking middle market hotel with an impressive frontage right in the centre of Pattaya, on Soi Diana, just off 2nd Road at the one end, near Mike's Shopping and leading up to Soi Bukhao and the increasinlgly popular bars and smaller establishments in Soi LK Metro, fast becoming a fashionable part of town.

I have stayed here many times over many years as a regular guest and seen the hotel expand to now 216 rooms and suites and add new wings, additional pools, mini gym and improve the grounds and appearance indoor and out, but that has also been reflected in the prices. It's a sophisticated hotel compared to the smaller boarding establishments of Soi LK Metro, Soi 7 and 8, or the Sawasdee chains nearby, and other popular tourist destinations and priced accordingly. The in room amenities are better but they have been slow to catch up with wifi.

Rates are now creeping up yet again* despite Thailand suffering the lowest of low and high seasons in the last 2-3 years. Average room prices in summer to Nov 2012 are now 1700-2500+ baht nightly so this doesnt compare to the budget 750-800 establishments in LK Metro. However you get the spacious 'big hotel' feel, pools, bars, outside bar and a wide range of services( *It was 1200-1300 only 3-4 years ago or so) The hotel will be 2000-3000 a night in 'high' season

I have stayed here so many times, and accomodated a Thai friend's family here also on a visit. the hotel, for single male travellers is 'guest friendly' without any additional 'joiner fee' (as long as you have only one overnight guest at a time by the way). The ambience is distinctive spacious and very appealing to a mix of family and single travellers. The location can't be beaten with many bars, all local shop services, the excellent Papagayo club, easy access to a good central point on 2nd Road for the 'baht bus' as well as easy walking to the more interesting eclectic sub soi between Soi Bukhao and 3rd Road with the unique bowling green, Oasis A Go Go, Champagne a GoGo are rivals to Walking Street establishments and for single male travellers there are a host of smart new music and coyote bars in that area without going 'into town'

If you are seeking the next cut above the budget 'rooming houses' and the likes of Flipper Lodge, Pasadena Lodge and such in noisier areas but without the fee levels of the Marriot and similar, or you want a more couple or family oriented environment and faclities, and don't mind paying a tad more, then a stay at Areca Lodge is a great idea for at least part of your Pattaya trip.

Room Tip: The deluxe and executive rooms with Pool view are the best ones..
