“Jomtien Beach”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

If you are looking for some calm away from central Pattaya this is just the place you should go to. About 10 minutes drive from central Pattaya the beach lives throughout the day and the night as well. With one of the best night streets, markets and shopping malls along the beach . Water sports on the beach and everything you can ask or imagine of right here and now.

“The thin strip of sand dominated by deck chairs n brollies”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Well it's a beach, in that there is sand and there is water.... Less annoying than Pattaya in that there are fewer Russians and most of those are sober but still fatties who think they're the bee's knees for some reason.. Have to mind where you sit because of the prevailing breeze or you'll get clouds of cigarette smoke blown at you at all times buy said Russians who park themselves at the water's edge and roast to a cherry red... I don't mind the touts too much, a polite "mai ow krap" generally sends them on their way, after they give you the sad look for a bit, but seriously, I saw things for sale that have limited use at a beach, like feather dusters...wha...? and some enterprising chap was of offering things that go buzz in the night, if you catch my drift... right..
Food is everywhere, and it comes to you, overpriced prawns that may have been carried around in the sun all day, same with fish... or perhaps the dried cuttlefish that gets grilled on the charcoal brazier, which ain't bad... Better to watch the locals when they come down, it's later in the day, they either bring their food and grog, that's important, or one of the legs it across the road and gets it cooked fresh and gets takeaway back to his hungry tribe.. ticks off the guys who sell food ont he beach but it's half the price and it's fresh.. At least deck chairs are cheap, there were two of us and it was 100 baht, she was a Thai, so it was free...she said...
Swim in the water, not in your life, one day take a walk down the road and look at all the outflows that run into the seawater, some very near the northern end of the beach and more than one that smells of you can guess.. There's a reason I don't eat local seafood from the area...
It's a shame but the locals do it to themselves, up at Bang Saen near Chonburi, I was there when a local fisherman had water in his diesel tank so he did what you'd think, pumped the tank dry, into the ocean of course, right where everyone was swimming.. they treated dozens for skin, eye and throat irritation that day and had a HAZMAT team show up...
I digress....
in summing up,Jomtien is slightly better than Pattaya beach, more nighttime entertainment at the latter, but...

“Excellent beach”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

Lovely clean beach with young and old couples, families, and local Thai people selling their services & stuff (food, accessories, paintings, foot and hand massage i.e. pedicure/manicure, etc) hanging around. One can seat and simply relax on one of the sunbeds straightaway as you enter after paying a nominal fee (100 THB in March '14). The local stuff you are free to buy or you can bring your own stuff or drinks/food too. The best part about the beach is simply its relative quietness, a relaxing atmosphere and of course, clean water if one wants to swim. There are also lots of cafes, restaurants and bars nearby.

Jomtien beach is a better choice over Pattaya beach as its less crowded and a few less touts. You will still be approached but it is less naggy. The water is still bad quality but jet skiing here was fun and we encountered no problems, just smiling faces.

“Nice beach”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Jomtien beach is nice and long with a lot of sunbeds and nice sand. A lot of sales people keep your stomach happy if you are thirsty or hungry. The water is clean and prices reasonable. You can also get manicure/pedicure, massage and tatoos if that's what you are looking for. Cheap and convienient transfer up/down the beachroad and to Pattaya with baht-buses...
