We stayed in late December for three nights and had a fantastic time. It was our first stop on a 10 day tour of Thailand and starting with the Rabbit Resort was perfect timing! After 20 hours on planes from the U.S., this is the peaceful place to go. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. Windy was there to greet us and we had no idea how well she would take care of us during our entire stay. She is definitely a key asset to this place!
We stayed in a second floor “forest room.” We had a very good sized room, small kitchenette and a bathroom for the two of us. There was a small refrigerator stocked with the typical hotel amenities, rice cooker and all the basic dishes/utensils. Absolutely no complaints about the size or set up of the room. It’s beautifully appointed. Plenty of counter space around the sink. No problem getting towels! (see photo) With the patio doors open, all we heard was birds and the occasional soft voices of someone walking along a nearby pathway.
The entire property is basically an oasis of rainforest. Beautiful grounds and pools. Everyone you ran into would stop and greet you in Thai. The on-site restaurant is fantastic. We didn’t realize how great it actually was until we finished travelling to the other hotels we stayed at. The Rabbit’s breakfasts were the best compared to anywhere else we stayed. They were full of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, etc. The staff was wonderfully friendly and even remembered us each morning … bringing me tea without even asking.
The neighboring properties are quite different – more mainstream, high rise hotels or timeshares. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else on this stretch of beach. The beach is narrow and pretty packed with various groups of umbrellas and beach chairs. Despite this, nothing felt “busy.” Rabbit has a reserved section of the beach with its own orange umbrellas and beach chairs. The water was relatively calm with light waves hitting the beach, perfect swimming environment.
In terms of the “neighborhood,” it’s situated on a boardwalk with various restaurants and a few general vendors. The boardwalk is open to vehicles but it isn’t very busy so I didn’t find the few cars/motorbikes particularly annoying. You have a short 5 minute walk down the beach to the local 7-11 where you can pick up snacks, etc. From there, you will be entering more of the busy city environment.
We met the owners who were visible and available on the property. They checked in with us a couple times during our stay. Both Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit were so friendly and made sure we were perfectly satisfied (we were!). Interesting side note… as tourists from the U.S., we were definitely in the minority in Pattaya but Mr. & Mrs. Rabbit had lived in our home state (Arizona)! Small world!
Of the four places we stayed in Thailand (in Bangkok & Chiang Mai), my partner and I rated the Rabbit Resort as number one. The combination of a beautiful grounds, great restaurant and friendly staff are hard to beat. There was only one major problem. We didn’t stay long enough.
