“Rabbit Resort is definately the Hidden Gem of Asia!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2009

My husband and I have stayed at the Rabbit Resort three times (Nov. 2005, Nov.-Dec 2006, and August 2007). I wish we could return every year! After reading the bad review someone recently left, I felt it necessary to defend the owners and staff of the resort. We could not have had a more wondeful stay. The staff are all very friendly and eager to be of service to their guests.

I discovered the Rabbit on the internet while doing research for our first trip to Thailand. It is definately off the beaten path, but that is one of the things we loved about it. It is a little piece of paradise on the secluded Dogtan Beach. The atmosphere is wonderful. The resort is beautifully landscaped to resemble a peaceful jungle of beautiful trees and flowers. No matter which bungalow you stay in, you feel that you are in your own little private world. The way they are nestled in the "jungle" provides the utmost of privacy. You will awaken each morning to the sound of birds singing.

The rooms are beautifully decorated in Thai style. They are very well appointed, with a safe in every room, plenty of closet space, nice bathrooms and a well stocked mini-fridge. If you need anything, just call the office and they will be glad to help. (We always request a soft mattress topper.) The resort has a wonderful laundry service that we used several times each visit.

If you want to take in the local sites, the staff will set up tours for you. Don't miss Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens - absolutely wonderful. If you choose to lounge at the beach or by the pool, an attendent will be standing by to attend to your every need. (For us it was usually a Margarita or an ice cold glass of tea!)

The food at the Beach Grill was the very best. The location is not bad either, you will dine in an open air beachfront restaurant. We spent a lot of time venturing into Pattaya and Jomtien and ate outside the resort a lot, but never found anything that compared. The breakfast buffet was a wonderful way to start the day. We would rise early and enjoy watching the beach vendors setting up each morning. They have the best spring rolls we have ever tasted anywhere. The Thai food and steaks were exceptional. If you have a favorite food on the menu, just ask and cooking lessons will be arranged for you. For a really romantic evening, have a private table will be set up on the beach and enjoy a candlelit dinner.

As wonderful as the accomodations are, the staff are what sets the Rabbit Resort above the rest. Deb and Paisan do everything possible to make your stay absolutely exceptional. They have a well trained staff who will all do everything possible to accomodate your every need. Most of them have been with the Rabbit for years and it is
nice to be greeted by old friends on repeat visits. For us returning to the Rabbit Resort is like going home. It takes a lot to feel so comfortable. I'm sure my words cannot adequately describe our experiences , but we would recommend the resort to anyone who is travelling in the area and only wish we could visit more often.

This was my second trip back to The Rabbit Resort in two years. Its proximity to Pattaya without the hustle and bustle of that city is a real plus. Also the location just across the street from a very long and sandy beach is without doubt a real joy. All of the rooms convey the ambience of the Thai lifestyle and the relaxing atmosphere of a jungle setting right at the beach. The grounds are immaculately kept and the food and service at the Rabbit's seaside restaurant is unsurpassed for its daily buffet breakfasts (included) and for lunch and dinner service, too. Two pools (one for adults and one for children) top off the grounds ambience. The rooms are all elegantly built with tile, stone, and teakwood flooring. Ours even had a self contained kitchen. A large flat screen TV with every imaginable channel was in our room too.
We found all of the help extremely courteous and ready to help with any request. In talking with the owners, we learned that all of the help were like one big family, since most of them have worked there for many years.
The best part of all are the husband and wife owners who are active members of the staff. Deb (Mrs. Rabbit) prides herself on knowing each and every customer and in staying directly in touch with them during their stays. She and her husband, Paisson, are both a delightful addition to this amazing and wonderful part of Thailand. In fact it is through them and their direct contact with all of the guest there, that makes everyone feel so special while they are staying there as their guests.
I thoroughly recommend The Rabbit as a first class act.

Honestly, Rabbit Resort made such an impression on me that it was hard to find other hotels on my Thailand stay that came close in quality on all levels: Superb Room, Great Housekeeping, Stunning and Well-Kept Grounds, Best, Friendliest and Most-Helpful Staff, Personable and Caring Owners, etc. Their high standards, serious non-smoking approach to rooms and the restaurant, as well as very assistance-oriented/English-speaking, trained staff rounded out my stay to near-Perfect!! I'll go again!

The hotel is composed of recently-built houses nestled in an area with many trees, plants and flowers. It feels almost like you're in a jungle, and it's very pretty and quiet. It also felt to us like we were staying in a guest house, not in a hotel, because the houses really look like houses, not hotel blocks, and because we had an entire floor of a two-story building to ourselves as well as a big balcony on which we'd sometimes eat our meals when we ordered room service. The houses look classy on the outside and inside. The outside is of pretty brown hardwood, and inside there are some Thai textiles and artifacts for decorations. All the appliances worked fine.

This was by far the cleanest hotel I've stayed in in Thailand, and it was cleaned well and redecorated with flowers daily by the staff. The grounds are kept immaculate.

The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful and unobtrusive. The owner was happy to sit down with us and tell us her personal experience of running the business since we expressed an interest. She was very generous with her time and clearly had a genuine interest in connecting with her guests personally.

When we checked out the bill said exactly the price we were quoted. It was the only simple and straightforward bill I ever received at a hotel in Thailand. We weren't nickle and dimed for local calls and the like. It was such a pleasure that the check-in and check-out process was relatively fast, simple, and easy to understand. Contrast this with other hotels in Thailand where you must pay a deposit upon arrival that is higher than the price you were quoted for the room, and then when you get the bill there are all kinds of extra things tacked on and you end up giving up a substantial portion of your deposit for taxes, fees, and way-overpriced local phone calls. In a country where you may feel nearly every merchant you deal with is charging you the "foreigner's price" or outright scamming you, interacting with Rabbit Resort's staff is a huge relief. The only downside of service was we sometimes interacted with people who didn't understand much English, so making the details of our requests clear could occasionally require extra patience.

There was not much on the menu to interest a vegetarian or vegan, but the staff of the hotel's restaurant were happy to make adjustments to ingredients so as to meet my needs.

Pattaya is an unusual location which a wise traveler will research in advance, particularly if traveling with a partner or children. Rabbit Resort is not far from very seedy neighborhoods, but is thankfully distant enough and in a mellow neighborhood so you might not realize you're a hop, skip and a jump from Thailand's sex tourism hub. Much slower tourist traffic and a fairly clean beach just outside Rabbit Resort's front door compared with downtown.

Rabbit Resort is moderately expensive by Thai hotel standards, but you definitely get what you pay for, and when you consider that it's only something like $150 a night in US currency, it's still a good deal.

After seeing that the Rabbit Resort is listed as one of the best bargains in Asia, I feel compelled to write a review. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and have lived in Asia for five years, currently residing in Bangkok. Rabbit Resort is nothing special. It is clean and the people are nice, but the beach is horrible, too crowded and very low-end. The room was okay, but again, nothing special. We wouldn't stay again - we wouldn't go back to Pattaya again either. Go to Hua Hin unless you are interested in prostitutes.

The Rabbit resort was everything we had in mind the only reason we did Pattaya voor 7 days was this place to stay the only low rise property in Pattaya with a beautifull garden. We stayed in poolvilla no 1 very close to pool off good size.large uotdoor shower.Very relaxing to spend the day there the beach was crowdy to much umbrella,s so your in the shadow almost whole day.The bed was hard but ask for soft matras and it will be arranged in a minut. The staff do everything to give you a good time. The restaurant is on beachfront and serves good quality food. The breakfast is buffet and the cook will make your eggs as you wish.
For going to Pattaya center yhere is a free shuttle to the front road where you can take a bus for 20 bath pp withing 10 min it will bring you there. On walking distance is Jomtien beach with plenty off choice restaurants and shops.Rabbit thank you for the very good time we have had.The only dislike was leaving.

We have recently returned from a great stay at the Rabbit Resort staying for three nights from 28th January. The reviews I read here on Trip Advisor lead me to chose the RR for our stay. All of the excellent reviews are 100% justified.

The Rabbit Resort has a wonderful location - a tranquil oasis 15 minutes or so from central Pattaya. It could be considered too quiet for some but since we had young children this was a perfect location.

We stayed in five villas as a large party of fourteen including five children aged from fifteen months to seven years old. All were great in a wonderful and tranquil location. Clean and tastefully decorated. The children loved the little brick pathways between villas.

The beach was a 20 yard hop away and was clean. However, as great as the beach was all of the children enjoyed the wonderful and dedicated children's swimming pool. The pool itself was very clean with interesting features and shaded areas if you are worried about the sun. It is located away from the adult pool and so the children were free to have as much fun as possible.

The breakfast was lovely every morning. The evening meal was also great. Three of our party are Thai and requested authentic Thai dishes off menu and the kitchen delivered no problem.

The hospitality of Mrs Rabbitt and her staff was superb. Nothing was too much trouble. They really went out of their way to ensure your stay was the best possible. As an example, I required medical attention on our third day. Without hesitation, Mrs Rabbitt organised her staff to take my wife and I to the Pattaya Hospital, wait whilst I received attention and return back to the Resort. Superb.

In summary, all nine adults and certainly four children recommend this resort without hesitation. Great for children and families!
