“Nice medium priced hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2008

Nice enough hotel. Rooms a little small, though always clean. We had a corner suite, and although the word suite was a little misleading, the corner location was nice for a pool view. Pool area nice with enough sunbeds to go round. Bar and restaurant nice also, with some happy hour deals most days of the week. A good point to note is that the bar & restaurant prices are quoted net - so none of the '++' surprises you get on many hotel bills.
The shuttle bus service is brilliant. You never need to wait more than a few minutes whatever time of the day or night you need it. It picks up / drops off adjacent to 2nd Road, which makes the location very good as it is near the Royal Plaza (for shopping or the excellent food court upstairs), as well as Walking Street for the evenings entertainment.

If you are looking to stay somewhere in Pattaya which is comfortable, clean, within easy reach of all local ammenities and provides top quality service at a very reasonable price, look no further than the Mercure. Its entire staff seem to work as hard as they can to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible.
I used to stay for many years at the Hard Rock and Marriot - but since finding the Mercure, I have not stayed anywhere else - The service is better, the hotel nicer and quite frankly, why should I pay more for less?
The Mercure has a Nice Pool, Nice Rooms, Excellent Food, First Class Service and is truely a Great Price when compared to other (so called) higher class hotels in the area. Check it out!

  • Liked — The quality of service from everyone
  • Disliked — pool aproaching need for clean

Been there a few months ago and again beginning of July. This hotel was already a trend-setter but even improves more and more. The F&B is great, prices are very economic. The staff very friendly and professional... This management clearly controls the hotel perfect!!!

Nice rooms, nice people. Decent breakfast. I had ants in my room but I was willing to overlook this if most everything else was ok. 2100 baht with breakfast.

Internet rates were rip-off priced. 400 baht a day.

The location is ok, but if you want to go back in the direction of Third Road it is annoying walking on the slim, dusty erroding section of Soi 15. Getting back to 2nd beach road is easy with the free taxi service, it is a short walk to the Mall on 2nd Road. They should offer free taxi service in BOTH directions.

They got us a taxi back to bangkok, but tried to rip us off badly with a 2800 baht taxi ride!!! The normal price for farang is 1200 to 1500. We got our own taxi.

Nice Pool.

To sum up, if you don't care about location or the internet or getting ripped off by the hotel, then this is the place for you, it is a nice place. I've stayed at 3 other hotels in Pattaya and this was the worst one overall, but not terrible. I'd like to give it 2.5 stars, so I rounded down due to the high rating it has I don't feel it deserves.

  • Liked — Nice Rooms, Good Pool.
  • Disliked — Ants, Rip-offs, Location.

Stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel had a nice thai atmosphere with mostly thai nations staying there. The pool area was very relaxing with very good service from waiters bring you drinks and food. The pool was large and had the warmest water whatever time you went in it. We didn`t have an food included in the price, but there seemed like there was a regular bbq evening and the restuarants seemed relatively busy. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The good thing about this hotel is that is set back from that main hustle and bustle of Pattaya (there is a free hopper taxi which is a fantastic service).

For those of you who have never been to Pattaya it is certainly an interesting place where you see some interesting sites. i think i am very open minded and certain things took me by surprise! This is not a holiday place for children. Most of the days we spent lying in the sun either by the pool, on one of the beaches further down the coast or on an island (you need to try and escape Pattaya). The evenings went spent shopping and trying to avoid the large strip bars. The hotel was very good so that the holiday was more bearable. If we were there for longer, we would have gone back to Bangkok!

  • Liked — it got you away from the main part of pattaya!
  • Disliked — rooms need to be slighter bigger to make way for all the Bangkok shopping!

The pool was very nice, as was the lobby area and restaurant/cafe. Tuk Tuk service was very convenient and the slightly out of the way location was nice and quiet. Not beachfront but still enjoyable. Room was comfortable and very reasonably priced. The only problem was bugs in the bathroom. They were tiny little bugs that seemed to come up from the sink or something. Also, the fruitbowl was a nice touch, but within moments of eating the fruit, there were ants all over peels. I have never stayed in Thailand before and I don't know if this is typical problem. It was a little annoying but not a big deal.

  • Liked — The Pool!
  • Disliked — The bugs!
