“great location for relaxing”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

we visit coconut island for a week from march 1 till march 8. the resort is situated on a private island so that make the retreat very relaxing we upgrade from a room with jacuzi to a one bedroom villa with private pool this was a very good decision. The staff was very nice and very kind. the resort ground are very well maintain the food was nice in all 3 restaurants. The only issue was the beach on low tide its very muddy but pools are amazing.I would go again with no problem, also the manager is very helpfull.

Perhaps not everyone chooses this resort solely for relaxing and a bit of sailing, but that's what I did after an intense business trip in Singapore. Very enjoyable, excellent restaurants (including new Japanese restaurant) and service. I chose specifically because it was isolated and quiet so if you're looking for the opposite you'll be disappointed. Perhaps A/C was somewhat challenged but a bit of patience easily solved that problem.

My Husband and I have just returned from this hotel after spending 7 days in February 2014 in a Jacuzzi suite. Unfortunately the standard was not as expected and even basic amenities were not up to standard. For example the hot water system ran out of hot water after about 60 seconds then turned to cold, the water pressure was turned off during the night and we had to ask the desk to turn it on, the air conditioning was not adjustable through the full range even thought the controller had facilities to do so, this meant that during the heat of the afternoon the air conditioning unit could not cope. The fridge in the room did not cool properly and we had to go to the bar to get cold drinks. I definitely could not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The resort is very large therefore ask for a room near reception

Dear Glensy,

i am very saddened to read your review, it seems that you were certainly in a suite that had a few small faults. This Ofcourse is not good enough and i can only apologise for the inconvenience caused.
I am however confused as to why i or my duty managers were not made aware of this as we could have rectified the problem straight away by getting you into a more comfortable and working villa. I can assure you that we would never intend to put anyone into a unit that isnt 100%, everyday before new arrivals we do thorough checks to ensure rooms are in a good working order. Things can sometimes break down and stop working at times, but in the event this happens we should react in a way that keeps you, the guest, comfortable and happy. I am truely sorry we fell short this time.
i hope you enjoyed the other aspects of our wonderfull resort.
if you would like to talk more about this please contact me directly, as i would be happy to learn more.
kind regards
Dan

The Village Coconut Island amazed us with its setup and the love for detail. We stayed in a private villa with pool right at the ocean front. We had 3 fantastic days on the island and will certainly come back.

The ocean front villa with 2 bedrooms was massive for us as a couple. We loved the private pool. The villa was full of art and cleverly positioned decoration to give it a sophisticated vibe. The staff took great care of us and we felt very welcomed.

We ate twice in the resort and both times the food quality was very good. We appreciated the breakfast buffet a lot which had a good variety. All in all perfect weekend trip for us.

We've just returned from a 10 day holiday on Coconut Island with friends. We stayed in a beach front 3 bed villa which was absolutely superb. It was spacious, well appointed and had it's own good sized infinity pool. Definitely 5 star accommodation.
The resort itself however did not match the villa. In no way could it be described as 5 star - more like 3. An overall description would be "tired " and there were some serious maintenance issues with loose planking and grubby paintwork. The gardens were well kept but the beach was not pleasant in that it was strewn with rubbish and even glass, especially at low tide. There was also a stray dog problem - we found them sitting on our sunbeds!
The restaurants were fine - good food and not overly expensive by European standards but not in comparison with Thai equivalents. Breakfast was ok but minor niggles were stained placemats, awful coffee and the bread/ pastry counter sitting out in the open air. The staff were lovely but very hard worked - there didn't seem to be enough of them.
We enjoyed our stay on the island but it was good to get out and explore. We used the taxis on the pier and negotiated a good rate. We visited the temples/ big Buddha , market, shopping centre and botanical gardens on separate occasions and would recommend all.
We ate at the restaurant on the pier 4 times and would recommend as very good value also the floating restaurant ? Kuvit Ram. In Phuket we ate at Salvatores (Italian) which was very good.
Overall, if you're looking for a place to chill then this is it but if you like to get out and about then you need to factor in a 10 minute boat ride followed by a taxi journey to get anywhere.

Room Tip: Beach front villas were the best. Avoid those next to reception which were adjacent to a large noisy...

We initially were going to stay here for 2/3 nights, but enjoyed it so much that we stayed for 10!

We stayed in the smallest and cheapest accommodation on the complex but it was still very nice and just the right size for 2 people. Being a bit on the larger size, I did find mattress pretty firm.
The room was cleaned daily, and the sheets changed every other day.

The hot tub on the decking was lovely.

The staff were very nice and friendly, as were the locals when we walked around the island. I'm not sure if there will be so many now as a lot were workers still working on the site but this was 2-3 years ago now.

The breakfast selection was the best I have experienced at any hotel. We only ate once in the evening at the hotel as the floating restaurants a short boat trip away were amazing. They would take the fish out of the water and it'd be on your plate 5 minutes later. Some lovely sunset views were on this side of the island as well.

If I could change one thing about the hotel it would be for them to use normal priced taxis and not the TAXI MAFIA
That being said, I do appreciate they have a captive audience and they aren't going to get any passing trade or much of it for that matter. But it did put me off exploring more, when they cost so much.

Can't wait to visit again though, hopefully soon!

Came here for a couple of days with a girlfriend - we had the most amazing time. The place is fantastic, all the staff were really helpful, and the beach was gorgeous! Happy hour cocktails also great! We did a day trip across to ko rang yai, which was honestly like going to paradise - I would definitely recommend taking that trip! All in all, an amazing place, will definitely be visiting again when I'm next in Asia.
