We had an amazing time at the Village Resort. there were a few ups and downs but overall our experience was great! The Island runs off generators and water is stored in tanks on the island (no electricity or water connection from the mainland).

The first night we got there, unfortunately the water supply had a leak so we didn't get to freshen up (we had a Jacuzzi so jumped into that). On another day the power went out - this was not an issue for us as management had happy hour at the bar until power was restored - might have been a minor issue for those with children, but overall not a big deal in my eyes.

The staff at the resort were always attentive and assisted us in any way we asked. We booked tours from the resort and took the water taxi into Phuket if we wanted to explore more than the island.

overall we enjoyed our 8 days / nights there. We would alternate with a "full on" day (filled with a tour or sightseeing on Coconut Island or go into Phuket) and then a rest day, staying on Coconut Island.

We believe we had the best of both worlds having the calm of the resort to come back to after a fun filled day - although, there was still heaps to do on the resort to wear us out if we decided to do that too, such as hiring a bike and touring the Island.

We loved exploring Coconut Island as well as Phuket - we had a wonderful driver and tour guide who took us anywhere we wanted to go around Phuket (organised by the Village Resort staff). We did a Phi Phi Islands tour, Elephant trekking, visited Tiger Kingdom, the Big Buddha, lovely restaurants in Phuket, bicycled around Coconut Island - you name it and they will accommodate you!

Thank you Thailand - we loved our visit and will return again.

The views are amazing, the staff are attentive and helpful and friendly, the surroundings are so beautiful, the villas are comfortable, well appointed and well maintained and our own private jacuzzi was so enjoyable. The spa offered a wide variety of treatments, was well equipped and appealing and the staff were very professional. The mini market was well stocked and the three restaurants offer a wide variety of food to choose from. The bar staff speak very good English, are friendly, experienced and helpful. The pools are beautiful and enjoyable. The ferry runs every half hour each way so access to and from the mainland is easy and there is a taxi rank at the jetty so transport is easy. There's a lovely seafood restaurant near the pier too! The only downside we found was that there is no ATM on the Island and while you can charge everything to do with the resort to your card, anything else requires cash and the nearest ATM was a 300 baht taxi fair each way so people need to know to take plenty of cash with them.

Village Coconut Island had it's pros and cons.
First of all, when we arrived we were quickly put on a boat straight to the island which we felt, was efficient but then we found out the boats went every half an hour which seemed like forever after a long day shopping, exploring or simply wandering. We felt a bit far from Phuket and it was a shame we couldn't just take a quick taxi to Patong Beach or somewhere else without getting there within 30 minutes.
We got a pool villa which we all loved. Being able to jump in a pool whenever we wanted without having to go to the public pool was lovely. The villa itself was set out well. It was kept nice and cool by the air conditioners and was reguarly cleaned. We had a large amount of trouble with the toilets though. Also, we found the showers didnt have enough pressure.
The bar tenders were lovely! It was easy to communicate with them since nearly all of them spoke fluent English. The night performances were entertaining and everything had a great feel about it. Top marks for that!
Room service however, was not so great. The first time we ordered it took about an hour and a half to be delivered. The second time, we couldn't even get on the phone with the resterant! We went hungry that night.
We had a teen travelling with us and there was nothing for her to do! They had plenty of things for younger children but nothing else. The pool was quite boring for her since she was the only child travelling with us.
The food and drink there was fabulous! The drinks ranged from fancy cocktails, wines, beers, mocktails, sodas... you name it! There was a huge selection of food as well which made it hard to choose!
Overall this was a good place to stay. The people, entertainment and things to do were lovely but service, time and distance brought it down. It was an enjoyable stay but I wouldn't stay there a second time.

Room Tip: Pool Villas are much more enjoyable

This place has all it takes to be a 5 star resort - they miss it because of the little things - it's a shame!
Let's start with the good things: we went a family of 13, with kids of all ages 2-17.
The rooms are beautiful, the view is magnificent, the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a pool villa with a private pool which was great, the pools at the hotel are also great, the kids enjoyed the slides.
The thing is, when you go to a 5 star resort in Thailand you expect certain things: the flower necklace, the wet scented towels, real, authentic fruit shakes being served by the pool and the beach ..... all these were not to be found!!
We came in mid April and the tides were very strong - which meant that the beach was not nice at all, the waters were merky, and full of leaves and pieces of wood and mud - did not make you want to go in. the beach itself was muddy - it ruined the whole "beach vacation" idea.
Our rooms were at the top of the hill which meant a long and not so easy walk to and from the pools, the lobby, the restaurants.... made us think twice about every walk.
The guest information in the hotel is very lacking - no information about the opening and closing times of the restaurants, only on the last day we learned that there is food available all night (we stayed for a week). We tried calling the restaurant for information but no one spoke good enough english to understand us or answer us.
Reaching the reception by phone was also a trial - calling and calling and no one answeres.

It is very far from most attractions in Phuket - which is great if thats what you are looking for - it was a little annoying for us with all the kids when we wanted to go to the city, to the shopping at Patong beach, to take day trips.... a 40 min drive in each direction. The hotel does offer day trips (to Phi-Phi, james bond island ect...) but the prices are 3 times what you can find on the other side of Phuket.

All in all we had a nice vacation, but when you pay so much money for a 5 star resort in Thailand, on the beach - you expect a little more pampering and a little more value for your money

Room Tip: make sure you get a room close to the beach and \ or the lobby - the upper rooms are a difficult hik...

This was my first time ever to a 5 star Spa resort, courtesy of my brother. It was a great treat and fortunately very relaxed and not ostentatious. I love the architecture which blends in so well. my only complaint is that I think the food and drinks should have been more inclusive especially with the ten of us including children, ranging from 10 - 17 years old. There was nothing for teenagers and needed better live entertainment. However, we found these fantastic seafood restaurants on stilts above the water which were fantastic and offered real Thai food, rather than European pizzas and steaks!

However, the private pool was to die for. A proper size family swimming pool and the view to the beach was awesome. The customer service was excellent and the Spa Thai massage, excellent.

For us, it really was a once-in-a-lifetime Family holiday

I stayed at coconut island for 13 nights in march/April with my partner . We had good and bad points to the holiday! On arrival we we're upgraded to pool villa with sea view we we're delighted, the room was excellent, after reading some of these reviews we didn't know what to expect with the hotel but on arrival we couldn't have expected anymore, the food at the hotel was lovely although abit pricey!! The bar staff we're friendly! If you want a relaxing holiday this us perfect place, but can get abit annoying travel by boat to the island from the mainland when you want to see other parts of phuket. a few days into the holiday we went on overnight trip organised by travel company we traveled with, on return we went to our room to find money and various items stolen from our safe, (which was locked) ! When investigated it was found to be member of staff which done this, ( who now no longer works there) when reporting to hotel management they couldn't have done more for us - we we're upgraded to grand villa which was just perfection, they gave us complimentary spa , drinks and food for the rest of our stay, they kept us updated on what was going on through process and very supportive when visiting police station to give out statement, we couldn't thank cian and dan (hotel management) enough for everything they did to try not spoil our dream holiday in Thailand, I would defiantly visit the island again !!

My husband and I alongside our three young children have just returned from a nine night stay at this beautiful resort. The two bedroom villa (both ensuite) was perfect for our family set up and was well maintained. The private pool was a luxury and was well used by our little ones as well as the communal hotel pools and water slide. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating (especially Bernie who was the general manager of the hotels vacation club) who gladly assisted in any queries regarding excursions and imparted his local experience. Of particular note I was saddened to hear that they had run out of fresh green coconuts normally bought from the local market only to find that a few minutes later they had obtained 4 fresh coconuts from their surrounding coconut trees! We are already planning our visit next year. It's exclusive location meant that we felt it a very safe place for the children.
