“Good hotel in a lovely location.”
Reviewed 22 April 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour of Southern Vietnam (with our own driver and guide). Arrived after a long journey from Ho Chi Minh City (9 million people and 6 million motorbikes!) along roads lined with tea and coffee plantations where buses simply drove on whichever side of the white line was quickest! Dalat was pretty chilly by late afternoon - but what a lovely setting for a city. Founded in 1893 and would, today, still not look out of place in Central Europe. Not a joke: pack a fleece to wear in the evenings - it is cold. (the night market was full of heavy jackets, hats, scarves and even ear muffs!) Our room in the Saigon Dalat was beautifully furnished, with inlaid wooden flooring. Automatic wifi (so no need for a password) was an added bonus. It might sound strange, but a calico laundry bag is well worth purchasing as you leave - the gold embroidery is beautiful. Cannot comment on "Value" as this hotel was included in our tour price. The day we arrived was the 83rd Anniversary of the formation of Vietnam's Communist Party plus the 120th Anniversary of the founding of Dalat. So, two reasons for the locals to celebrate. We walked the 10 or 15 min to the City centre where there were crowds of people and, on a large stage, lots of dancing and strident celebratory singing (a couple of hours later, all trace had been removed!). Not quite sure that this was the future Ho Chi Minh envisaged....smart phones and ipads everywhere with no obvious internet regulation (certainly not with regard to foreign news sites anyway). None of the 3am phone calls (no one at the other end) or badly-executed "tailings" we experienced in the former USSR in the early 1980's are evident here but, no doubt, surveillance of foreigners does exits. We ate in the night market on our first night - did the job but nothing special. On the second night we ate at the Art Cafe. Superb (see separate review).

Stayed here in balance of cost and comfort. This is one of few hotels that have air conditioning in Dalat. Check in was swift and efficient with very attentive bell staff and reception, that deserves applaud for their service. Concierge/information female staff member was very knowledgeable of local sightseeing and found her advice very genuine and kind. I highly recommend seeking out advice from her before proceeding on your own outside the hotel.

Room was average and as expected. It was clean and wifi was very good. Views over Dalat town was very nice. Didn't find the bed/linen/pillow the most comfortable but okay.

Be aware that the swimming pool is not strategically located, that is right behind the lobby, but was never available for use as it was constantly being used or prepared for functions. The breakfast service was most dissapointing for us, as it was a very busy long weekend. The staff in the restaurant was also below par compared with the front of house services. You seat yourself in the restaurant, and when it was busy, food was not replenished quickly and tables not cleared efficiently. The best time we found was early on at 6am, and that was because we had to leave for the airport. Note that this is also a very nice time to tour the countryside of Dalat because you get to see the mountains shrouded in parts by clouds and with the sunrise, potentially different colours to the skies.

The hotel is about 10 mins walk to town. All in all, we had a comfortable stay, and if we forget the breakfast and pool, it's really very good value for money.

We stay here on April 8 -9 ,2013

We arrive Dalat quite early in the moring, 5 AM and we go the hotel for check-in. Actually we did not expect that we can get the room coz is very early morning but hotel staff try to help us to have the room for bathing and napping before long-day city trip.

Our room is superior room with no corridor. The hotel is only 1 ot 3 hotel in Dalat which have air-condition. The room is clean, simple and not smoking smell. The bathroom is average.

The outdoor swimming pool is nice but quite impersonal as it locate near the restuarant.

The breakfast is simple and average. The food is quite variety compare with the room price. The coffee and Atiso tea is quite good.

The hotel locate quite far from the city center but near the hotel they have a good Nam-Neaung restaurant only 250,000 VND per person. The taste is quite good. Also have a small great reaturant near the hotel which located next to the big karaoke center. The price and taste of food is good.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in March 2013 as part of a tour with Travel Indochina. The hotel is very smart, well built and well looked after. The staff are all very friendly and offer excellent service. Our room had a balcony and a superb view over Dalat. The cocktail bar on the top floor is very good and also serve some excellent snack meals. There's a very good swimming pool, breakfast is buffet style, fresh and well prepared. We'd happily recommend this hotel when staying in Dalat.

Room Tip: Very good location in Dalat and a very high standard hotel.

We arrived at this hotel after a 6am flight and were allowed to check in 3 hours early which was great. Unfortunately it all went down hill from there. The pool was closed due to a function that night. The room they put us in had doors like paper and you could hear every door close on that floor and every conversation being had in the corridor. The function started at 6.30pm and even though we were on the 5th floor it was so loud we couldn't even hear our tv. After 3 hours of loud screaming over a microphone and a complaint that was ignored we decided to move. They insisted on moving us to the 7th floor which was moderately better. On the 3rd day the pool was again closed due to a wedding which started at 11 am. This time it was loud enough to hear clearly on the 7th floor. It was still going on at 1pm when thankfully we left. We were charged $80 for two lots of laundry that weren't particularly large. If they are constantly going to have these functions and close the pool they should let people know before they check in. The staff, with the exception of the bell boys, have a general air of indifference about them. It was the highest star accomodation we stayed at in our 3 week holiday and definitely the worst.

This is a large impersonal hotel, but the rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, despite there being few guests. We were at the front of the hotel and it was a little noisy with not very good sound proofing.

We stayed here over 2 nights and at first everything was great we arrived late the first night and was meet at the front of the hotel greeted with a drink and our luggage was wisked away to our room which was beautiful and had a bed 1 size larger than king, quite nice. but everthing was very quite it is heading to the end of january so It might be a quite season for them but there seems to be noone around, we had dinnen the orchard restraunt that night in the hotel and the food was ok. the next day in the afternoon we thought we would try the bar on the 6th floor to have lunch and a drink but to only find that wing of the hotel is closed and all the lights are turned off so we had lunch in town, then we thought we would use the tennis court only to find that they dont provide racquets you need to bring your own???? so we thought we would go for a swim and lay by there so called "heated pool" which is definently not heated and only to find that there is only 5 pool lounges for a 7 story hotel which is very quite at the moment i still ended up laying on m towel on the concrete floor. sorry but for a 4 star hotel I expect more.
