“great in the centre of Da Lat”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

stayed for 2 nights in Da Lat and can recommand this hotel! It is situated in the center of the town - walking distance to the main attrations (crazy house, botanic garden, market, cathedral). Like all the hotels I experienced in Vietnam there is free wifi available and staff is very friendly. Here they spoke a quite good English too.
Around the hotel you find lots of restaurants with very different offers from exotic seafood to the familiar small cookshops - especially on your way to the market you'll find a broad choice. For Da Lat is in the mountains you should bring warmer clothes with you.

After leaving another hotel early due to poor conditions we stayed at the best western Dalat for 1 night.

I found the staff to be helpful although their English was limited, my partner left our laptop in the room and housekeeping contacted front reception who called us.

Breakfast was mostly asian, however they had fresh juice, egg station, bacon, and cereal for us western breakfast lovers!

Would have loved a bath to relax in though!!!!!

Bed was comfortable, room was clean and neat overall a good experience, and good value for money, after all it is Vietnam and not the Hilton sydney!

We paid about £25 for 1 night B&B for 2 people which is not much at all.

The room was clean but had a very strong smell of smoke despite being a non smoking room. When in the bathroom you could smell cigarette smoke coming through the vent.

The breakfast was pretty awful but then as I say we did not pay much so did not expect much. The food that was meant to be served hot was actually cold and it was just generally very poor quality food.

They also play music in the corridors which appears to go on 24 hours a day. You are able to hear the music when in your room with the TV on. I therefore rang reception and asked them to turn the music off which they did straight away.

Good location right by the lake. Heads up - If you want a map you have to pay for one and the maps are in Vietnamese. They have 2 computers in the lobby you can use free of charge. In standard rooms you do not get A/C and we took a free standing fan from the corridor and moved it into our room at night.

I would not stay here again, there are nicer places for similar prices.

I feel a little mean only rating this hotel as 'average' because it's not bad at all. It's just that hotel standards in Vietnam are now so good that this hotel now lags a little behind some of its competitors.

The frontage to the hotel is lovely, in a classical style that would not be out in place on the Riviera. Location wise, it's in a great position, with nice views over the lake and town. No problems finding one's way back at night, as it's such a visible presence.

Staff were always friendly and helpful but the rooms were not quite up to the standard to which we had become accustomed for similar class hotels during our trip. As another poster noted, the rooms could be straight out of the 1970s and whilst a reasonable size, the 'superior room' that we had was a little dark. The room was clean and the bathroom was fine, although again a little dated. Nice, powerful shower though.

Breakfast was included and there was a very good choice of Asian and Western dishes, which were of decent quality.

Should you be taking the airport shuttle, it will collect and/or drop off at the hotel and is very good value.

We were able to obtain a very good deal via Tripadvisor (around $20 per night), which was fine for what we got. Had we paid more, we might have found better value elsewhere.

I think that with an upgrade to the rooms, this would be a top choice for Dalat but at the moment, unless one finds a special deal, there are likely to be better choices within the price range.

Room Tip: Try to get a high floor for the best views.

Hate to write bad reviews but this hotel looks like it's straight from the late 70's. Rooms are old, buffet breakfast is only Asian, the worst part was the tour desk/ front desk that booked us in a tour they offered for Langbian mountain and many other places, but the tour kept us in the city all day. Was the worst day of our trip to Vietnam. The location is also just outside of all the restaurants ( 10-15 minutes walk). there are better options in Dalat

We had an room in the 6th floor with an amazing view to the park. The room was more than big with a great wooden floor. The room and bathroom was really clean. We stayed in a lot Best Western in US. We can tell you this one is more than Best Western Standard!!! We slept very good. It is really good located. We could really recommend this hotel.

My first visit to Dalat and I used tripadvisor to pick this hotel. This is a large hotel in a good position near the lake and also the town (5 minutes into the centre). The hotel has been kept in good condition and the room was large and well decorated with a very nice ensuite bathroom that had a shower with strong hot water at all times. Breakfast was a large and varied buffet that included a chef making fresh omlettes to order. We also ate in the restaurant for lunch and dinner and the food and service were excellent. The staff do not speak English well unfortunately but we were able to rent a motorbike from the hotel to visit more distant sights and this was at a reasonable cost (150,000 dong = less than £5). This hotel is a good choice for exploring Dalat providing excellent quality at a very reasonable price.
