Owner description: In its heyday, Dalat Station boasted three arrivals and departures daily. The French built the railway station itself, while the zigzagging tracks were planned and implemented by the Swedish, experts in tricky terrain.

“A Fun train car!”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

Station and old train interesting. We didn't go with the group in train car and visited another pagoda on the left hill first. That's how we saw two pagodas instead of one, but be careful - train waits only for 45 minutes, so we had to run back.

“A colonial treasure.”
Reviewed 19 November 2013 via mobile

This relic from the French colonial era is well worth a visit. You can sit in the deep leather couches as the French ruling classes did in the fifties (and some of the wealthier Saigon citizens). It had a chequered history during the war, too.

“Take The Train To Trai Mat Village”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

If you have the time, take the 30 minute train ride to Trai Mat Village on what has been described as maybe the shortest railway in the world. You can spend an hour or so visiting the very interesting temple complex and then take the ride back to Dalart. Well worth the 124,000 dong fare(about $6 US)

Reviewed 7 November 2013

I think the station has nothing much but the attractive thing here is an old train and classic train station.

“Alternative choice to explore or just skip?”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Dalat Railway station is one of the oldest railway in Asia. Its about 75 years old now. Sad to said that the railway is abandoned during the later years of the Vietnam War and large part of the railway track was destroyed during the war.

Currently, the station is reopening of a 7 km section of track leading to the nearby village of Trai Mat.The building is certainly unique architectural style .You may found one of the oldest steam train in the world just stop right on the old tract for tourists to take memorable photo.

According to my tour guide there was only two units in the world. One at Dalat and another at oversea which also from Dalat.

Tips:
- Due to the time constrain we did not have the opportunity and manage to ride the train from the station to the Trai Mat Village as we just staying at Dalat not more that 48 hours. If you plan a longer trip at Dalat. Its definitely an alternative choices for a solo travel, group of friends or family with teens to have a visit together the ride. The train scheduled only have limited time of ride. Its advisable to check the scheduled and plan your return trip. I believe is simply worth to discover the scenic view of Dalat along the railway to the village.
