Hotel staffs were very helpful when we need to look for some transportation back home, cespecially the girls at front desk. However, staff in breakfast were not that good. Breakfast is okay, nothing special to talk about. Our room is gorgeous, huge bed and nice view to the bay. I had relaxing time in th bathtub after long day around the wharf. I would recommend this hotel for the ones looking for 1 or 2 nights between your time visiting halong

My room was very large and comfortable, though no WiFi. The hotel is close to the tourist wharf but about a 2km walk to the restaurant and shopping area. I saw rats (or large mice) in the breakfast area and on the egg cooking station. I didn't need the reception guy to ring my room at 10.20pm to ask if I wanted 'a massage'.

We were forced to stay at this hotel because our Halong Bay boat operation (Dugong Sails) couldn't deliver on our 2nd night stay on the boat because the government allegedly did not allow the boats out that day because of bad weather (the weather was actually fine and the bay was calm). Anyway, that's another unpleasant long story I won't go into here. We got our keys and upon entering into the room, found a pair of husband and wife employees at the hotel along with their kindergarten child watching television in our air conditioned room. Obviously they weren't expecting that room to be occupied that night! The room was huge but was impersonal. There was a swimming pool at the hotel but it was filthy (see the picture), I'm not sure if anyone would swim in it. Breakfast was okay and wifi was not particularly good. It was conveniently located just across the road from the boat terminal.

Stayed there for 2 nights with my family, so happy with room, staff and price. Lobby staff are friendly and helpful. The room is big and clean with good view to the bay from the windows. Breakfast is nothing special, though. Swiming pool is kind of small and not for children. Overall, we enjoyed our trip and would definitely stay here again. Special thanks to Ms. Nga from sale Dept.

Room Tip: Rooms in front are better view

Tripadvisor review - bmc hotel halong bay
"avoid if at all possible"

We were booked into this hotel by our trip organiser to Halong Bay by one day . However it is clear that Halong Bay really only comprises of the bay itself . The hotel and area seem to be just an overnight stopping point before going on the Halong Bay cruises , so coaches arrive about 8pm or 4 am . The area is horrible along the docks and lots of constructions seems to be happening despite many run down , disused buildings. The hotel is one example of this. The staff would be better to stop insistantly sweeping like most Vietnamese women do and pick up a scrubbing brush , paint brush and spruce up the place. The mouldy walls, light fittings falling out and ill fitting carpets make it unsafe whilst the flies in the breakfast area means it is unhygenic.  There does seem to be a large range of food available for breakfast, however it is very hard to identify what those items are, plus the flies around some of the fruit and bread do put you off.  The coffee was awful, and the cups dirty.  We managed to order an omlette, which arrived as two fried eggs.  Nevermind!.
The is very little else to do in the area so we spent the night in the hotel eating crisps and chocolate whilst watching a film; not necesarily through choice as there seems to be no nice restaurants or coffee shops nearby.

We were woken up at 4 by construction work from next door and the chinese bus load leaving for the next leg of their tour.

All in all, this hotel resembles something from the shining in low season, but desperately needs some tidying up.  it is a massive place, but with such little amount of people in it it feels horrible.  We have written an email t the tour operator advising him not to book this in future, even if it is one of the cheapest at around 45dollars a night - its still not worth it.  ( whilst in vietnam we have stayed at cheaper hotels that have had better facilities, service and hygene)     It has seemed like the longest 24hours of our life and has been a complete waste of time on our holiday.  In fact we would have been better off putting up with the turmoil of hanoi, rather than attempting to escape for some peace a little earlier.

Also to add, we did find the pool -i doubt anyone would want to use it, and the wifi which is supposed to work everywhere simply doesnt.

We stayed at this hotel as part of an arrange tour package for a trip to Halong Bay. The hotel wasn't why we were coming to Halong Bay, and it was perfectly adequate for our family and the other travelers in our group.

The hotel seemed a bit rough around the edges. One of the elevators "7" buttons was broken, so if that was the elevator that we got, we had to press "6" and walk to our room. The floors could have been a bit cleaner.

The breakfast was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. We had fresher and better selections in most other hotels that we stayed.

I don't know the exact cost that we paid for this hotel, as it was included in our tour price. If you get a good price for this hotel, this place is perfectly fine, but certainly nothing special. Our rooms did have a very nice view of the harbor.

Hotel lobby and room is big. Breakfast is simple, no various menu. Hotel location nearby the port. I like this hotel although is 3 stars the room is big. I dislike this hotel as my hotel room is very far from the elevator and have to pass long road to reach my room. But the room has a good view and as usual hotel2 in Vietnam the room amneties is complete, such as soap, toothbrush, comb, hari dryer, coffee and tea. Nice place to stay if you come with your family. And also in the hotel lobby under the stairs there's a small shop sell Vietnam's handicraft such as bag, dress etc with a good price.

Room Tip: If you come alone avoid the room which is far from the elevator.
