“Get a room with a view of the bay”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

We were suppose to stay on the bay, but the typhoon put paid to that. We stayed here and were upgraded to a executive room with a view of the bay. Had our eveninbg meal here which was nice.
Great location.
Walked into town to the market.

Room Tip: Get a roon with a view of the bay

one of the best 3 star hotel in Halong. its location is right on the bank of Ha Long Bay, near the entertainment areas and just 5 minutes walk from the beach. With elegantly equiped rooms overlook to bay view. You are comfortable with its professionalism

Nice spacious reception but the lift was tragically slow and sometimes just didnt bother going to the fourth floor. Twin room was quite big with nice beds, though similar to most SE Asian hotels, were quite hard. The aircon was really cold, but there were some nice warm duvets in the cupboard. Bathroom was clean and functional but nothing to write home about. Several friends staying in other rooms on the top (fourth) floor also reported an ongoing really irritating churning noise (like a water pump or lift mechanism) that went on until 10pm at night and started again at 6am in the morning. If you are staying, get an even numbered room - these are front facing with amazing views of the bay. Breakfast was the usual eggs, bread, fruit etc. An average hotel in a really good location.

Small but just passable for one short night stay. Dirty and be careful when taking shower. No water any time. Don't brush your teeth from running tap, water smell like from rusty pipes. Very nosiy if you stay hillview side.

Room Tip: Don't ever stay on the ground floor facing the hillview view. Noisy, disturbing motor vehicle li...

The view from our room at the Ha Long Bay hotel was spectacular. It looks out over the water and the balcony made it easy to sit back and enjoy it. Other than the view, nothing in particular stands out about the room, it has all the amenities you come to expect from a hotel, everything was acceptable. Although the AC took a bit of coaxing to get it to work. Wifi was good, we got signal throughout the hotel and it seemed to be a decent speed.

The hotel itself is tired and in need of a refresh, it's just a bit too 70s for this day and age. It is in a good location, relatively close to some restaurants and the night markets. It is a about a 15 minute drive to the marina for the Ha Long Bay tour.

Breakfast isn't too bad, but I would be hard pressed to pay, if it was not included in the room.

Thankfully only stayed here for one night prior to bay cruise, if our stay had been any longer we would certainly have moved to another hotel. Location of hotel is its only good point and there are great bay views if you are lucky enough to get a room on the front of hotel. We had a room at the back overlooking the car park where there was a bonfire going and acrid smoke getting into our room. The rooms are very shabby and dated and the beds are absolutely terrible, rock hard mattresses and unable to get any proper sleep. Woke up in the morning to find that there was no water at all in the whole hotel - nobody could have a shower or even have a wash/shave. By this itme we were not expecting much of a breakfast and that proved to be the case - very little choice of breakfast foods and the coffee was terrible - tasted like the camp chicory essence that used to be available years ago.The hotel manager apologised for the lack of water in the morning and gave us complimentary bottled water to compensate! All in all not a place I would ever want to visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at front of hotel overlooking the stunning Halong Bay if you really have to stay at t...

This hotel clearly knows that the vast majority of guests stay only one night, before or after a boat trip in the bay, and therefore there's no need to impress people so that they return. There are no facilities or extras; even the bar doesn't seem to open in the evening regularly. The building is stark and slightly Soviet, the place feels shabby, the rooms are huge and quite bare, with very hard beds, although the toiletries and appliances are fine. The breakfast was pretty nice, with a good selection. The redeeming factor is the beautiful view of the bay if you are lucky enough to get a room on the right side of the building.

Room Tip: To enjoy the fantastic view, ask for a room on the side which faces the bay.
