Staff were all very nice & helpful. Location was on hill, so magnificent elevated views. We did have a problem with the shower. Not a good set-up. After a fall, the staff assisted us with a new room. They said they would look into some changes. So they were very helpful to us. Tour assistance was good, but bus travel booking to Hanoi through them was not very good. All in all, very nice stay. Breakfast was excellent. I would stay again when they fix shower/baths. Thank you to all staff.

Room Tip: Beware the slippery bathroom & shower/bath. Ask for sea view. It is magnificent.

My partner and I stayed at Asean Ha long hotel for 3 nights. Our room was quite basic but had everything we needed and was very clean. I believe all rooms have a balcony and a priceless unrestricted view of Ha long bay, we were on the 10th floor. The breakfast was a nice buffet, slightly asian style for westerners but more than satisfactory...All the staff at this hotel were very friendly, in particular Mr Hoa (Deputy General Director) his English was fantastic and he went out of his way on many occasion and no request was beyond him.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially Westerners as the ease with which we could converse with staff was exceptional! They also have a nice pool, which we found to be the coolest (temperature wise) in all the hotels we stayed in in Vietnam......but once again it`s all about the VIEW!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS

Room Tip: try to stay as high as possible we were on the 10th floor

I was impressed with Asean Halong Hotel. The asmosphere here was warm and friendly like you ware staying at home. The Breakfast was of high standard, giving the options of Vietnamese food and western food. The service was excellent. The Hotel is ideally located on a quite road in Baichay. From this location you can also enjoy some walk to Baichay market. The owners ware very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this lovely hotel!

This place is cheap and cheesy - outdoor carpet with cigarette burns, chipped furniture, the cheapest of everything imaginable.

At check in, we were presented with a list of items in the room (short list, as the rooms are really sparse) and told we would be paying for any losses (seems they cater to the thief segment).

The rack rate was $85 US, but you can be sure that the bus loads of tour groups are paying half that. The whole place is an ashtray and you can do sooooooooooo much better elsewhere. We skipped out after one night for the Novotel instead

The Asean is a large, well run hotel, with good views of the harbor from most if not all rooms, It is a short taxi ride to the Tourist Harbor. The location is in the Bai Chay part of Halong City, where most of the hotels and the Tourist Harbor are located.

The rooms are a decent size and well appointed, the bathrooms sparkling clean.

The breakfast buffet has a wide selection to suit most tastes. Dinner in the downstairs restaurant (there are two - on different floors) was served quickly, the food was good and not expensive for this catagory of hotel.

There are three free internet booths in the lobby, An outdoor pool, sauna, massage, fitness room etc offer recreation opportunities. I found all the staff most accomodating.
