The monogrammed cake on my wife's birthday was a stroke of genius and was really appreciated. We have stayed in hotels all over the world, including some 5 star establishments, and its so rare to find people who think and do things really well. We always notice and appreciate somebody making that extra effort. THANK YOU !

I'd also like to acknowledge the friendly and relaxed tone set in the hotel which really made us feel at home and was so appropriate for the hotel and its setting. We appreciated the trip advice and bookings that were made and the staff's patience as I'm sure they have heard many of the questions we asked many many times before.

Whilst the hotel could do with a little redecorating we have posted an "excellent" review on Trip Advisor because the staff did such a fantastic job of welcoming us and helping make our holiday a success. The room was clean and fresh sheets arrived each day, our room had A/C, a computer, WiFi and a bar fridge - great for a budget hotel !

Room Tip: TIP - there's no lift so consider a room near the ground floor.

Me and my friend stayed at this hotel for 4nights from 27sept to 1oct '13 , we booked from booking.com. At first time came to this hotel we got very warm welcome by the receptionist and got welcome drink too :). Then we got a map of Hanoi and show us what must visit around hanoi and also showed us where to get good meal :p.

But unfortunately we got room at 6th floor. It was a tired to climbed up :(. But the room is clean also with the toilet. Every room had a mini bar, old computer to browsing the internet and tv with most vietnam sub channel haha.

Every morning we got several choices for breakfast. We also planned the trip from hotel, and they managed it very well and got the reliable price too.

It was the good choice to book at this hotel, the friendly staff and the good location could make your holiday more and more good

Room Tip: Choose room at higher level :) to minimize the noise from busy road of hanoi

We had expected a lot more from this hotel. The staff were very helpful but our room was very noisy and needed a spruce up. Wifi was poor also. We found the reception and dining area hot but staff were helpful with turning on fans. We had booked this hotel online but our room wasn't available when we arrived and we were taken to another hotel which was nicer and newer. We got our room two days later and were upgraded for free.

We arrived late on the first night of the mid-autumn festival and were greeted very warmly by Jimmy the receptionist who offered us a cup of coffee and some good information on what to see and do in Hanoi. Afterwards we were shown to our room, our bags carried for us which was a relief as we were on the top (6th) floor and its a very tiring climb. Unfortunately the room on the top floor was pretty poor quality - the room smelled of damp and half way through the night our A/C unit, which we struggled to get going in the first place, packed in and we nearly cooked! However at breakfast we commented on these things and were moved to a room on the 3rd floor - our bags moved for us by the helpful staff - which was much much better kept, and stayed another 3 nights.

The beds are hard but comfortable with clean sheets. The rooms all have a mini bar and TV but the one we had on the 6th floor had terrible reception. There are damp patches in the rooms which spoil the feel, but the bathrooms and roms are reasonably clean although again the 6th floor one was worse with mould on the doors and ceiling panels missing.

There are two computers to use in reception free of charge, and wifi throughout but it can be a bit temperamental especially in the rooms (again especially on the 6th floor) despite there supposedly being a router on every floor.

We didn't book any tours or tickets through the hotel, instead going straight to the train station for our tickets, so can't comment on their reliability for this, but on two occasions were called taxis form reception which both times worked out and were charged on the meter.

Breakfast was great with quite a few choices, and free tea, coffee and water in the reception at all times. We had a pleasant stay but it was far from the best quality in terms of room that we have experienced in Vietnam on a budget.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the 6th floor.

The room we booked was clean, but it was very cramped and did not seem the size that was advertised. It was not a big deal, the bigger issue was that our air conditioner did not blow out cool air. It was a constant problem that we complained to the staff about. They would have someone come in to check it out, but it wasn't until the last night there that we actually had a working AC unit. The staff was nice and when there was another room finally available they offered to change our room. Another downside to The Serenity is that we booked a bus with them to Ninh Binh, which is only about an hour and a half away. The ticket price was exorbitant compared to other buses that we have booked. We were also pretty annoyed that we were not told that the bus was taking people on a tour to different destinations, one of which was in Nihn Binh. The trip ended up taking three and a half hours on a bus without AC and that stopped at those stupid gift shops for an hour. If needing a bus ticket book it yourself at the Hanoi bus station and save your self a lot of hassle and money!

This hotel was perfect for our first week in Hanoi! The staff were all super friendly and really helpful with giving directions, telling us about attractions near-by and accommodating with any requests we had. The variety of delicious breakfast options was also great!
The room was small, but clean and nicely decorated, it had everything we needed from water and beers in the bar fridge to room service everyday, and free wifi with a good connection, as well as cable TV. Very well priced for what you get!

Small hotel at the middle of Hanoi. Easy to go to many famous places and night market, which are very crowded and hard to find a parking lot, just by walking.
Staffs are friendly and kind with 2 handsome male and 1 lovely female receptionist always help me out with lovely smiles.
Rates are good and services are quite affordable (based on a VNmese like me).
Room are very clean and good quality. I stayed at room 301 which is high enough to see sunrise in the morning.
Hotel has 6 floors without elevator. You must use the stair. But I don't think that is an essential thing in Hanoi which is rather small and old city. And the room service guy will help you with your luggages when you check in so don't worry, be happy. ;)
Air conditioner quite old and not really cold (Not too bad. Just not as cold as 18 degree. :D) but it does not have any leaking or noise at all.
The best part is Bath room which is very clean and provide hot water anytime you want. Althought the ceiling fan is not working but the bath room will not hold any smell. They also provide soaps, shampoo, gels... with good quality.
I hope they will change the TV to LCD someday cause they have HD quality cable channels but they look so tiny and sad on the old CRT.
Very good and speedy wifi (don't have wired ports in room) for free. But in room 301 we cannot receive any signal except sitting in the toilet or standing at the door. :)) I think the cafeteria is the best place to sit and work with wifi. Or you can use Yennhi's wifi (password is the name + 123). And they have two PC for free if I need unlike other hotels.
The bed is comfy, clean and have a electricity plug right above the head. Kind of interesting and convenient.
Room have a lot of shelves and a big wardrobe. But none of them have locks and the door only have one main door's lock. Although the hotel is very secure and staffs are honest but I think you should give the receptionist valuable stuffs to keep.
If I come to Hanoi once again, I'll come back and stay here. Hope that I will meet all the same nice guys and ladies.
