“Make your stay better...”

In Hanoi for a few days in november 2013.
Stayed longer than expected in the north (thanks Haïan!). During all the stay at the Serenity hotel, felt very well... You're close to the old city of Hanoï but the room are quiet enough.
Good rooms with more than you need to have a "sleppy" night, "healthy" stairs (yes you'll have to climb a little but it's worth it !). Breakfast are simple but good. All the staff is very friendly.
If you need anything, everybody here will do their best to help you. Spent really good time here and will come again next time in Hanoi !

We stayed at serenity hotel for only two nights. Emily and the team were amazing, especially considering our arrival date changed due to a missed flight. They rearranged accommodation and our ha long bay tour with no fuss. On arrival we were greeted with friendly service and they arranged a cake, flowers and a bottle of wine as it was our honeymoon.

Breakfast was also fantastic with good food and good service.

I loved our stay here and would not hesitate returning.

This was our first hotel in Vietnam and while it wasn't the fanciest of places, it was very good value. We stayed three nights and they were flexible with our dates so we could do a two night tour of Halong Bay. We started with a room on the 6th floor. Avoid those if possible unless you want to really test your lungs after all the moto exhaust.

The breakfast was consistently good and they were really helpful sorting out train tickets for us. What really stood out though is how they went above and beyond and mailed my sunglasses to Saigon after I left them in the lobby. I offered to pay for it but they said they were happy to do it and hoped that I enjoyed my stay. Totally unexpected but refreshing to have such nice service.

Room Tip: Avoid the upper floors, though they are a bit quieter. Depends on how strong your legs are.

Great value for money, booked a room thru Agoda about USD10 per night which included breakfast and the room was clean and nice. No elevator so be prepared to carry your heavy luggage all the way up! However, the staff is super friendly and helped me carry my huge backpack which I was very grateful for since my room was on the 5th floor. Convenient location and the staff help you find your way around the city by showing on the map, recommend restaurants and sightseeing. Shower didn't have hot water all the time if you shower for longer than 2min but it wasn't too bad. Walls kind of thin so you hear people walking and talking in the stairway and tv from the room next door but the traffic noises weren't too bad. Free hot coffee in the lobby all the time which was nice. Overall great value for money, you can't even get an awful dorm room in a European hostel for this price!

Room Tip: Easier access to lower floors

Stayed 3 nights here and recommend it highly. Room was a bit oddly shaped and up about 5 flights of stairs (no lift) but clean and spacious. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be useful if the staff told you about the (unlabelled) hot water switch in the room, as we accidentally turned it off and had to enquire about it at reception after some cold showers. However it was quickly resolved. The staff helped us with booking a trip to Cuc Phuong National Park and a sleeper train to Da Nang. We asked where we could buy a power adaptor and they loaned us one instead. Gave us a wonderful map of the city and told us all about the different attractions around town without being pushy or trying to get us to book tours. Most were within walking distance. Breakfast was probably the best selection and quality we had in SE Asia, esp. the banana pancakes!

We took an overnight trip to Cuc Phuong and had booked 2 more nights upon our return. When we got back they were overbooked, but they sent us in a taxi (all paid for) to their sister hotel Rising Dragon, which was also in the Old Quarter and actually a better quality hotel. Since we paid the same price, we were happy. Definitely would stay here again if we ever return to Hanoi!

The room was big and cozy, not extremely clean though. The bathroom was slightly scary, and there was no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, so everything got flooded when you shower.
None told us to turn the hot water on, so one shower had to be done cold before we figured it out.
The windows are terrible, which is not optimal in this noisy (though very good) location.
At night, someone at the entrance was shouting like mad. I had to get up (it was about 4 a.m.) to ask them to stop.
We tried to book a tour to Halong Bay, and the clerk who worked the evening shifts (and spoke very bad english) proposed to us 3-4 tours, all more expensive than what we got offered in another agency... Only as the last option, he proposed us the cheapest one, and it was quite painful to communicate with him.
The breakfast was decent.

I only stayed one night but had a pleasant stay. The room had a good sized window and was very spacious, if unusual in shape. The hotel is central enough, on the border of the old town. The staff were quite nice though if they'd been a little more knowledgeable that would have been useful. For example I asked for advice about a tailor, but they sent me to one which didn't have any English ability, and the owner ignored me.
