“Great boutique hotel”
Reviewed 28 May 2010

This is my first stay here, though have been coming to Hanoi for twenty years. First, the location is a nice compromise between the crowded and noisy old quarter and the more spread out parts of town south of Ho Hoan Kiem. You can reach either with ease. I found the hotel clean, the staff very friendly, and the overall feel quite upscale, with soft lighting and nice service touches, such as bed turndown service, chocolates on the pillow, morning newspaper. When i checked in and asked for a room facing the street with a window they took care of it and put in in a perfect room on the sixth floor with nice floor to ceiling windows. The bedding is among the best I have ever encountered and i was literally checking the labels to buy some for myself! My room was small, but big enough and with a very nice king size bed and nice flat screen TV. Nice bathroom fixtures and plenty of towels. One slightly unusual feature of this hotel is that because it is long and narrow, most of the rooms do not have external facing windows, instead they are illuminated by windows facing these light shafts that run from the roof to the basement. This seems like a good compromise, though one can look into the rooms from the hallway. Personally I would not want such a room, so amm very happy to have received one of the rooms with an actual set of windows. Should also note this the soundproofing of my windows was remarkably good, and cut out virtually all street noise. As others hsve noted, the breakfast room is a bit small and rather dark, and food only Ok. Still, i strongly recommend this place.

We stayed here for 2 nights before going to Sapa for 3 nights by train. Our room was very clean and it is so nice to stay here since you can easily walk around the ancient town. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We would like to recommend it highly.

Hotels in the old quarter of Hanoi tend to be noisy but I was surprised at how quiet this one was.

Service was above expectations (better than at the Intercontinental, actually everything about this hotel was better than the intercontinental for half the price!).

Very comfortable beds which is unusual in Asia as beds tend to be very hard, this one was great. I would suggest the deluxe room to have a bit more space and light (the standards are small and stylish but have no windows to the outside only to the well.

Breakfast buffet was very average, but they tend to be in this style of hotels in Asia.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March. We did booked it with wotif.com, so we managed to save up about USD 20 each night.
While it doesn't look like your usual big hotel, the service sure meets the standards of a reputable hotel. The service was prompt, the rooms were clean and comfortable (although a little compact), and I love the bit about the turn down service.
Very conveniently located close to the centre of town (Hoan Kiem Lake) - only 5 minutes walk, it was ideal for us. We also had to take a cab, and not only did they hail the cab for us, they also wrote down the 3 trusted cab companies of the city, for our trip back so that we wouldn't end up with a irresponsible party. A good touch :). And we also got them to book our water puppet show tickets prior to arrival.

We also used the massage on the top floor, though I have to add that their aromatherapy massage isn't exactly aromatherapy. They use the J&J baby oil as their 'oil'.

Breakfast was pretty good, and I just love the local noodles which was yummy!, but do get there either very early, or mid morning as it can get really packed. The dining area isn't exactly the biggest.

But overall, loved the place and if I have to go back to Hanoi, I would more than likely book with them again.

This is a small boutiquey hotel in a great location round the corner from the lake.

When we arrived we found the standard room a bit small so we upgraded to a bigger room at the end of the building with a terrace. It wasn't a great deal omre expensive and we thought it was worth it.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is adequate, and the service and staff were excellent. Its about Location, Location , Location though. The hotel is right in the heart of Hanoi's central district which is great for sightseeing and nightlife, all a walk away.

While you are there get the hotel to arrange an hours cyclo ride for you round the area (a real experience!!!) and do eat at the Green Tangerine Restaurant pricey in local terms but woth it.

Small, yet stylish room. Nice hotel, great location. The hotel staff was helpful throughout the stay but a big letdown is when I returned home and found out that the hotel overcharged me. I am not sure if it's the fault/mistake made by the hotel or that of www.hotelclub.com -- the website I booked this hotel with. So, travelers, be careful. I expect them to take care of this matter soon. Will update!

We stayed at the Maison D'Hanoi on the 6th March for 2 nights. We found the hotel modern, clean and comfortable. We were really suprised by how quiet it was considering how chaotic Hanoi is, the traffic is something to behold...complete madness. Tip: Just walk and keep walking, some how the cyclo's, bikes and scooters find their way around you, amazingly we didn't see one accident! The old quarter is a perfect base for sight seeing, (just under 5 minutes walk to Hoam Kiem Lake)

The beds are so comfortable, so comfortable that we missed breakfast one morning! Breakfast offered an excellent selection from continental to a full fry up to pho (noodle soup which is delicious) and the staff were helpful and friendly. We would recommend this hotel, without any doubt!
