This is my first stay here, though have been coming to Hanoi for twenty years. First, the location is a nice compromise between the crowded and noisy old quarter and the more spread out parts of town south of Ho Hoan Kiem. You can reach either with ease. I found the hotel clean, the staff very friendly, and the overall feel quite upscale, with soft lighting and nice service touches, such as bed turndown service, chocolates on the pillow, morning newspaper. When i checked in and asked for a room facing the street with a window they took care of it and put in in a perfect room on the sixth floor with nice floor to ceiling windows. The bedding is among the best I have ever encountered and i was literally checking the labels to buy some for myself! My room was small, but big enough and with a very nice king size bed and nice flat screen TV. Nice bathroom fixtures and plenty of towels. One slightly unusual feature of this hotel is that because it is long and narrow, most of the rooms do not have external facing windows, instead they are illuminated by windows facing these light shafts that run from the roof to the basement. This seems like a good compromise, though one can look into the rooms from the hallway. Personally I would not want such a room, so amm very happy to have received one of the rooms with an actual set of windows. Should also note this the soundproofing of my windows was remarkably good, and cut out virtually all street noise. As others hsve noted, the breakfast room is a bit small and rather dark, and food only Ok. Still, i strongly recommend this place.
