“Very clean, cozy hotel with great service that made our trip to Hanoi that much better”
Reviewed 16 October 2010

The Charming Hotel is tucked away in a small alley in the Old Quarter of Hanoi, which means you are in the middle of the action, yet it is quiet enough to get a great sleep. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The rooms very very clean. We organised trips to Sapa and Halong Bay through the hotel and both trips were excellent. We did hear some bad stories from other travellers who booked trips elsewhere, so I think it is worthwhile spending a little more on a good tour.

This is a great little spot on Yen Thai, which intersects with Tam Thong, both very small streets and filled with fresh produce and little storefront restaurants. It is really one of the most prime locations in the Old Quarter. The rooms are traditional, clean, cozy and extremely comfortable. I slept well, even with a 14 hour time difference! The staff is WONDERFUL.They are young, helpful, curious, curteous and extremely willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay perfect. They also are very multi-lingual and know the city very well, even though they come from all over Vietnam. I will stay here again!

Its a value for money hotel. Staffs was friendly. Willing to help. Rooms was spacious. But there's room for improvement. Particularly the water heated can be upgraded. There's time when there were no hot water for bathing.

Hotel was located in the heart of the city. The food served was good.

The moment we walked in the door after a very tiring over night bus journey, the staff here made us feel welcome. We were early for our room but they plied us with coffee, breakfast and smiles. We stayed for 4 nights in total, with a Halong Bay trip in the middle, which we also booked through the hotel. The rooms were clean, compact and bright (despite the fact that the windows looked out onto a wall!) and perfect for a base for seeing wonderful Hanoi.
The staff were literally on hand for anything - one walked me to the nearest pharmacy when I couldn't find one - and made every effort to help you with bookings and taxis.
Couldn't ask for more, really!

Location of the hotel is great, near to amenities and 5 minutes walking to the lake. The staff are great, friendly, polite and helpful. The room is just big, clean and comfortable. My friend and myself, 8 of us have great and pleasant stay at Charming Hotel. Free Internet and no commission Exchange rate is great and we allow to pay the hotel fee with Dong and USD.

As for my own experience, the staff really great as I have forgotten my extra paid USD50. They called the Taxi driver and deliver the money over which really impress me a lot.

If I travel to Hanoi again, this hotel will be my 1st choice :)

This hotel is in a great location down a quiet lane but close to the action. We spent six nights at this hotel in a windowless executive room. Initially we weren't too sure about staying in a room without a window but it was so quiet and we slept so well that we were quickly won over. The staff was fantastic. We had a few minor issues during our stay and all were quickly and efficiently dealt with. The free pick-up from the airport is a huge bonus, especially as it's around a 45 minute trip. During our five weeks in Vietnam, we rarely organised our tours at the hotel we were staying at. However we did organise our tour to Halong Bay at the hotel because the manager, Mr Duc, gave us a good price and didn't try to push more expensive tours on us. The hotel also looked after our bags while we were away. The breakfast was simple but fine. We loved this place and would certainly stay there again.

We stayed 2 nights at Charming hotel and booked 3 rooms with the great help of Mr. Duc. When we arrived at the airport, the taxis were there and drove us to the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located in a small street in the old quarter less than 10 minutes walk to the Lake and close to many shops. The staff is amazing and the receptionists are superb, very helpful and always smiling! Rooms are nice and clean and we sleep very well in the beds:)
They can arrange your trips to Halong, Sapa, etc... always with a smile. Btw, if you want to exchange money (USD/VND) do it here as the rate is better than any other hotel and even better than in the banks!!!
Well this hotel is more than charming and i would highly recommend it to any person wishing to visit Hanoi. Hope to go back there soon..
