We had a great experience at the Rising Dragon Palace! The staff was extremely helpful and we had a very comfortable room! We used the spa for massages (about 20usd for 60 min) and they were heavenly! We were even upgraded because our first room had a problem, but they took care of it seamlessly! Make sure to have dinner at the rooftop restaurant- awesome drinks and great food! It was walkable to all the major attractions (great location in old Quarter) and we even had help from the hotel manager buying a SIM card (he went with us to make sure we weren't ripped off)! They booked all our side trips for us as well. Great hotel to stay in with great Internet! We had to check out at 5am and there was a person there to take care of us with the cab already booked. I recommend!

Staff are very friendly and helpful and they all speak English well. They upgraded us to a deluxe room for all 3 nights of our stay for no extra charge. We stayed in room 604 which is supposed to be a city view but it actually has a window facing a wall. In my opinion this is better than the rooms with actual city views as you would be facing the very louder busy Hanoi streets. Our room was very well kept and clean with both a/c and hot water, the mattresses are hard but from what I hear that is standard everywhere here. The location is excellent it is only a 10min walk to Hoan Kiem lake and it is pretty much in the centre of the old quarter. Overall our stay was excellent especially for the price.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back if possible so you aren't facing the loud city street.

Whilst not everything was perfect by far and away the positives outweighed the negatives. We'd definitely stay again. First mention must go to the staff who were brilliant. Courteous, friendly and helpful. Not everyone had great English skills but everyone had the basics and there was always someone available who did have good English. Much appreciated. Feedback was actively sought (AND responded to).

Secondly, food. The buffet breakfast had a good (but not huge) variety and standard was great, e.g. fruit was actually really fresh. Our kids had no trouble finding things they liked. The roof top restaurant is a fun experience. Simple presentation and great to look out over Hanoi cityscape. Food (Vietnamese) was EXCELLENT. Far better than the more upmarket hotel we stayed at out of town. We also ordered room service (local and Western)and the food was not only good but quick and obviously freshly prepared (e.g. hot).

Thirdly, rooms. We had 2 interconnecting rooms (each with shower/toilet) which was perfect for us with our 2 kids (aged 5 and 3). Great for kids and adults to have a little of their own space without paying huge dollars. Wifi worked perfectly. Rose petals on the bed when we arrived was a nice touch. Some complimentary waters and fruit were appreciated too.

The down sides - bathrooms had some mould in the seals and one of the showers didn't work well (squirted to the side). Nothing major. Also initially (we stayed for consecutive weekends) we were on the 7th floor and I have to say while the views were good it was really quite noisy. Near a train line but above the other buildings so no buffer. Also the trolley from the restaurant was going in and out of the lift and banging. Sounds minor but it wasn't. However, staff were very concerned when we explained it was noisy and asked for a different room for the next stay. The 4th floor was much quieter. I don't want to make too much of the negatives. Our overall experience was excellent.

Room Tip: Connecting rooms on the 7th floor quite noisy. 4th floor were fine.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and would highly recommend people to stay here when they visit Hanoi. The hotel is conveniently located in the Old Quarter and has easy walking access to most attractions. This hotel is great value for money.
We organised our airport transfer with the manager, who promptly answered my email request. When we arrived at the Rising Dragon Palace Hotel we were greeted by the friendly staff who took the time to explain the city's highlights with a map, whilst enjoying a welcome drink and fresh towel. This was greatly appreciated as it was our first time to Vietnam. We were also checked in earlier. The standard room we were in was a good size, clean, comfortable bed, modern bathroom facilities, good size plasma TV, room safe, complimentary bottled water. The inclusive breakfast was to a good standard. Free wifi in room and throughout the hotel.
The restaurant on the top of this hotel has great views and the food and service were excellent.
Giang organised our trip to Halong Bay and it was a brilliant tour. She also split our stay so we could enjoy good weather sooner in Halong Bay. This meant our five night stay consisted of the 2 nights in Hanoi, 2 nights in Halong Bay and then 3 nights back in Hanoi.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we would like to say a special thank you to Giang as her service to us was outstanding.

Just on the edge of the old quarter and a ten minute walk from the lake the Rising Dragon is well placed. The street is not that busy especially at night so it is quite quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful and were very happy to make phone calls to our various tour company's to check that we were going to be picked up. Sometimes they forget the pick up so it is worthwhile to check to save a wasted day . Roof top restaurant does good food .

Room Tip: Pick a city view room which means it has a window. Some rooms are windowless.
