Located on a busy street, this small, basic hotel was fine for a few nights and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable enough with ensuite and nice beds, but everything needed a bit of TLC. A few things either didn’t work or were a little dodgy, like the air-con, fans, a lamp, TV etc. There was limited air-con outside the rooms, so the corridors, stairs and communal areas were very hot and stuffy. The hotel had free internet in the lobby and overall the hotel’s location was good – within a short walk from all the sites. All Hanoi traffic is crazy including the mental road outside the hotel but you'll find it okay once you get used to it. If you are looking for somewhere cheap and convenient for a few nights only, this will be fine.

Room Tip: Make sure your air-con works

First impressions: The hotel was OK, but nothing to write home about. Middle of the road. With room rates ranging from 22 GBP pp per night (standard room in low season) to 25 GBP per night (deluxe room in peak season), it is at par among its peers for its 2-star rating (some say 3-stars). Grade B.

Pros: Within a 15-min walking distance to the Old French Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake and to the Water Puppet Theater. Buffet breakfast, internet access (2 in the lobby) and private parking are complimentary. An ATM machine is close by. The staff are friendly.

Cons: The furnishings are colonial-style and a bit tired. Our room did not have a window. Although not really the hotel's fault, the traffic outside never stops. About 2 million mopeds per minute funnel through the front street. If you wait for the green light, you'll never cross the street. The trick is to "challenge" oncoming traffic by crossing boldly (read: jaywalk) & with obvious moves. Do NOT -- at any time -- pause or hesitate as you cross, otherwise drivers will fail to anticipate your moves and ***Wham!!*** Goodbye, Vietnam!! ***

Verdict: Adequate for a few nights. Typical budget hotel but, like I said, nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: What they call a Deluxe Room has a window, balcony and city views. Standard rooms do not. If you rea...

I don't like to base a review on 1 experience, but we had a large group and there was more than one bad experience. Some of the rooms had things we didn't want (bugs), and others were lacking ac. Although they did change our rooms, it seems weird that this happened to more than one group making me think it is an issue.

We stayed here for three nights at the start of a tour of Vietnam. The facilities were ok without being amazing. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the rear of the hotel and laundry area and, on the whole, had a quiet night's sleep. The room, including the en-suite, was a little tired and a tad grubby, and certainly required the floor-standing fan to assist the air-con machine to cool down the room.
Breakfast was fine and the staff were pleasant and helpful.
Yep, I suppose that's all you can really say about the place: it does the job; it's a 2.4 hotel in the middle of Hanoi. Worth staying here if you're on a budget, but doesn't knock your socks off!

Room Tip: Probably best to get one away from the street as it looks like a busy street.

The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The location is within walking distance of the Old Quarter and I felt safe in the area but be wary of the crazy locals on their mopeds!! One thing to note when staying in Hanoi (and possibly Vietnam in general) is that not all rooms have windows, so it can be quite dark. My room didnt have a window and while it didnt impact me too much as I was barely there, it did feel a bit strange not waking up to daylight. All in all my stay in this hotel was satisfactory.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window

Our first room did not have a window, but aside from that the room was adequate. We switched rooms and had a large room with a view of the street. Overall it was a comfortable stay and would say there again. The breakfast buffet which was included was more than adequate and all four of us were satisfied with the choices which included plenty of fresh fruit.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a window.
