The location is good, 15 mins walking to center. But the service was very bad. Very difficult to find some staff speak English, poor quality room, the AC not working, the floor was drenched, the wall so dirty and I can hear any voice from neighbor...The breakfast was terrible: poor, bad quality and that was my obsession when I saw a cockroach under breads!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they charge 2 more times for foreigner, I knew that when my friend (Vietnamese) came to pick me up, the reception thought my friend is customer and told her the price as a half of price I paid . Just 1 night, never want to come back that hotel.

My company booked my accommodation in this hotel...the "Faulty Towers". The building is dilapidated, the decoration and amenities in the room are retro and poor quality.

Breakfast is served poorly in a buffet style with spoil fruits, overcooked bacon, a chicken foot on display for your noodle soup and terrible powder juice...occasionally you can spot small roaches lurking around your table coming out of the wooded wall!!!

In various occasion they failed to clean our unit and/or supply with fresh towels. The mattress is unbelievable uncomfortable. This hotel doesn't have an emergency generator as during our stay we experienced a blackout and we were left in darkness.

The staffs doesn't speak English and are totally incompetent which add more frustration. In other words STAY AWAY!!! You can get better service for the same price with hotels near by and more central.

Nice and central location. Very good staff. The rooms need complete refurbishment. In my room alone the bedside lamp was hanging off the wall, the door knob was also loose and about to fall off. The door lock was very difficult to lock and unlock. There was a large cockroach on the hand basin. Buffet breakfast was adequate.

Located on a busy street, this small, basic hotel was fine for a few nights and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable enough with ensuite and nice beds, but everything needed a bit of TLC. A few things either didn’t work or were a little dodgy, like the air-con, fans, a lamp, TV etc. There was limited air-con outside the rooms, so the corridors, stairs and communal areas were very hot and stuffy. The hotel had free internet in the lobby and overall the hotel’s location was good – within a short walk from all the sites. All Hanoi traffic is crazy including the mental road outside the hotel but you'll find it okay once you get used to it. If you are looking for somewhere cheap and convenient for a few nights only, this will be fine.

Room Tip: Make sure your air-con works

First impressions: The hotel was OK, but nothing to write home about. Middle of the road. With room rates ranging from 22 GBP pp per night (standard room in low season) to 25 GBP per night (deluxe room in peak season), it is at par among its peers for its 2-star rating (some say 3-stars). Grade B.

Pros: Within a 15-min walking distance to the Old French Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake and to the Water Puppet Theater. Buffet breakfast, internet access (2 in the lobby) and private parking are complimentary. An ATM machine is close by. The staff are friendly.

Cons: The furnishings are colonial-style and a bit tired. Our room did not have a window. Although not really the hotel's fault, the traffic outside never stops. About 2 million mopeds per minute funnel through the front street. If you wait for the green light, you'll never cross the street. The trick is to "challenge" oncoming traffic by crossing boldly (read: jaywalk) & with obvious moves. Do NOT -- at any time -- pause or hesitate as you cross, otherwise drivers will fail to anticipate your moves and ***Wham!!*** Goodbye, Vietnam!! ***

Verdict: Adequate for a few nights. Typical budget hotel but, like I said, nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: What they call a Deluxe Room has a window, balcony and city views. Standard rooms do not. If you really have to stay here, pay a little extra for these amenities.
