We spent only few hours here after coming from the night train from Sa Pa and I must say never again!! the room was fair enough but breakfast... oh my god!!! The cafe was just terrible, very dirty and filthy, I would never recommend it to anyone, sorry about that!!!

English speaking staff were very helpfull and friendly. The rooms are new, clean and renovated with all you need. Only promlem was to separately control AC. Location is perfect for a short stay, easy to get anywhere. The breakfast was simple but ok. Overall the price is well worth the money for a nice clean and quiet hotel. Would stay there again!

We stayed at this hotel for just a few hours in the morning in late November, 2011, after arriving back at the Hanoi Train Station from our overnight train trip from Lao Cai/Sapa. We were only staying at this hotel for a few hours to get a bit of sleep, to shower, and to regroup for our day trip out of the area. We do not recommend this hotel. While the shower was okay, the rooms were just sub-par, and showers weren’t the cleanest, and this hotel was supposed to provide us with breakfast, which looked like it had been sitting out for several days. Needless to say, we did not eat any of the food, and had to spend time searching for something to eat, which near a train station, you wouldn’t think should be hard, but we wound up buying oreo cookies and soda. The breakfast of champions. If you need a hotel for a few hours, I’d say to pick a different one.

Their English was limited and couldn't clearly direct me in the right way when asking for directions. Their walls are thin but I guess any lady screaming at the top of their lungs in the room next door is tough to avoid. We complained to the front desk and were able to stop the noise.
On a personal note, when trying to book the hotel directly, I never got a response until 11 days after and had already booked through agoda.com which was a mistake.

If you are going/coming Sapa by train, this is the place to stay in Hanoi. Especially when you arrive at 5am in the morning. This hotel is right there for you to take a shower and sleep! Its across the road from the train station, but still 3-5 mins motorbike ride to Hoan Kiem Lake at Hanoi city center. Excellent English speaking staff were very helpfull and friendly. The rooms are new, nicely renovated with flat screen LCD TVs and nice furnishings. Firm bed which I liked and good mini bar in the frigde. The breakfast was ok, but you can order any viet dish from the kitchen and the food is decent. Overall the price is well worth the money for a nice hotel next to the railway station. We stayed at another hotel in the old quarters which cost more and was really old and mouldy.

We have stayed in Hanoi for one night and Newmoon Hotel is much different from any other I have stayed at! The architecture is very modern, beautiful and luxury facilities such as: Flat LCD TV, very nice decor, spacious rooms with big windows... . The location is super and really great for people who want to experience Hanoi in its entirety : Food outlet, shopping, night market, bar club… Fine quality 3 star hotel with a ‘Plus.' Staff courteous , helpful and they are always willing to help. Excellent buffet breakfast. Very satisfied and value for money. I would highly recommend it. Definitely, will be back.

I found that New Moon was very close to rail and bus stations and within walking distance of the touristic old quarter but still the feeling of living in"the real Hanoi"as well as a very stylish comfortable room.New Moon is a step up from other hotels in the same price range and this is increased by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The manager Mr Thomas Dinh is a perfect English speaking local which can be very rare in Hanoi,i found this as well as his honesty helped me a great deal.I have stayed in different hotels in Hanoi and found it very refreshing to feel relaxed in quieter comfortable surroundings without missing out on anything, even discovering more things.
