The Symphony is a nice hotel, well located in the old quarter of Hanoi. We spent 10 nights in total there, and during that time it felt like home to us. We initially stayed six nights before going to Sapa, and then four nights on our return. For the first 6 nights we were upgraded to a triple room at the front of the hotel. The room was large and had a balcony overlooking the street. On our final 4 nights, we had a standard room at the rear of the hotel which was smaller but quieter. The staff was very friendly and gave good advice on tours and places to visit. Overall a great value for money option in Hanoi.

I don't make a habit of posting reviews (I guess I'm just too lazy to bother). However, in this case I will make an exception. I was recommended The Symphony hotel from a friend that stayed there last year. The staff at Symphony hotel really made my trip to Vietnam memorable. I was only in Hanoi for a very short stay and they helped me to arrange all my trips and transfers. I booked onto a trip to Halong Bay and Sapa, both meeting my expectations. They really went out of their way to ensure I had a great stay,

The rooms are reasonably priced, clean and everything worked as it should. Breakfast is basic but perfectly fine (I had toast and coffee most mornings but there were other things on the menu also)

The location is in right in the heart of the old town but be prepared to get lost in the maze of Hanoi streets.

The whole experience was of being totally on a holiday. Once a tour was picked we knew that everything would be taken care of even to storing our extra baggage while away.
The host confidently looked after all of our possible concerns.
Airport pickup, tour management, etc. expertly done.
Went over and beyond. Dropped our group off AND picked us up from the train station after the Sapa tour.
We had not experienced a night train and the host walked us through the ticket process even to delivering us to the correct train car.
Breakfast was basic, a possibly addition would be fruit added but for the price paid, it was more than fair.

The staff work really hard throughout to help (breakfast when we arrived, outside of normal serving hours, organising train tickets etc). Really made the difference and I'm so glad we stayed here (Not just remembering names which some people on here consider good service!).

Breakfast is simple but ok. The rooms are simple but comfortable with a good bathroom/shower.

Their tours are ok, but as a general warning the Sapa and Ha long trips (whomever you go with as they are all similar) are over-priced and touristy. Sapa for 2 days 1 night is just not worth it as the first day tour is only for a few hours and the second day finishes at 2pm. Sapa is ok, but very touristy so by the second afternoon it's uninteresting. I don't think it matters who you book with as we were only following the other tourists around the trail....

Was really pleased with the reviews on trip advisor so decided that as well as staying at this hotel we would save all the hassle of roaming the streets and book our excursions with the hotel too.. So glad with the decision..

The hotel itself was lovely, clean and in a good area of Hanoi. Reasonably quiet in the old quarter (compared to the rest of the crazy city!) and at an average price too. No complaints there at all. The owner and maybe his wife? are clearly very good at their job and know how to make their customers happy with lots of advice and absolutely no pressure to book anything with them.

After deciding that both the Halong Bay tour and Sapa trip sounded perfect we booked them both and even though they were a lot more expensive than any other tour we went on in 4 months in Asia, we found it was all well worth the money. Halong was great with the V Spirit company, the boat was exactly what he said it would be. Not top of the range but by no means at the bottom either. We were either lucky or this tour attracts like minded people but everyone got on great- also after checking out each others rooms everyone had decided we had the nicest room, spacious and with our own little balcony area. Great food, service and tour guides..

Sapa was equally incredible, 4 days 3 nights. 1 night homestay and 1 night in the Sapa Eden hotel. This trip also included all transport, trains and private car&taxi. The lovely receptionist from the hotel even came with us and took us all the way to the cabin on the train. Amazing customer service.. We had a private tour guide for the entire 4 days as well as an upgrade to a huge suite in the hotel, arranged by the owner of Symphony..

The reason I mention the tours is that Symphony has got them perfected. It can be extremely hard to find good tours in Vietnam with so many to choose from (many of them just money making with no thought for service) but the guys at Symphony hotel make it all so easy, they really care as the tours they pick reflect them as a hotel.

All in all- stay here and you'll be very happy! Book in advance because it's a small place and if you can't get a room then book your excursions here, especially if your a backpacker and feel like treating yourself.

The staff at Symphony were extremely helpful. The room was spacious and had a balcony with wooden doors opening on to it. The room and bathroom were clean. Hotel is in Old Quarter but a quieter street as it was "hardware"(shut down 9pm but joined all streets that had a buzz). They called our tour company for Halong Cruise(We had booked this tour from Australia so no financial gain to themselves)) and ensured that a top deck bedroom with windows had been booked as they felt this was the best way to experience the bay . They allowed us to store our packs while in Sapa and Halong and we felt comfortable that they were being left in safe hands.
Breakfast choices could be a bit more varied. Thanks to Chung and Vung for all their advise and help. I would be happy to book tours through THEM next time. We will be back!

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony

Dear Ms. Debbie P,
It is very nice to see your impressive record on Tripadvisor. A special thank to you. Yes, you have come with us from the other’s recommendation - the same way with almost of our guests. Words of mouth is always the best way to develop; we choose and strictly follow this way.

From its very beginning, Hanoi Symphony hotel has always been guided by the principles of “We care about your stay”. We are always responsible for the customer’ money, care about the customer’s feeling, exceed the customer’s need. All of our team is absolutely happy when we see the smile on the customer’ faces or a message “We will be back” like you did.

However, we know that we still have to work much more and more to be big and famous. We believe that with our customer’s recommendation, partner’s support and a right direction, Hanoi Symphony hotel will be big very soon.
Once again, I would like to express our sincere thank for your great support and a lovely review, a valuable recommendation. Do not forget to contact me when you arrive in Hanoi. Welcome you back to Hanoi Symphony hotel.
Best regards,
Cuong Cao

The hotel is in a good location, only 10mins to walk to hoan kiem lake. Rooms are small but very clean and quite. Friendly, helpful english speaking staff, they help us to book a tour to ha long bay without being overcharged.
