We stay here for 6 nights after a 12 days motorcycle trip in Northern Vietnam.
If you want to rent motorcycle bikes go to "Flamingo Travel " it right in Hanoi old district, they are the best in Hanoi.(walking distance from Hanoi Eclipse.
Hanoi Eclipse is a great hotel in excellence location, very close to the lake.
The rooms is very clean (they clean them every day). We booked ours through Agoda and paid
$18 per room per night. The bathrooms are very modern and the bed is very comfortable.
The room price came with breakfast, it consist Western or Asian choices.
the hotel located on a less busy street so even the room facing the street is not noisy.
The staffs are super attentive and very helpful in helping us for our travel needs.
I highly recommend this hotel!

My friend and I arrived on Oct 21st early morning without the hotel taxi we arranged with mr. Jackson, so we hailed a taxi from the airport which was scary coz the driver cannot understand English. It was an hour drive from airport to the hotel...so you can just imagine the ordeal, aside from the fact that it was raining and we did not trust the driver at all coz he did not want us to talk to other people at the airport...very scary...Mr. Jackson did not understand our instruction about the time and date of arrival at the airport.
Aside from this experience...I find the lady at the front desk very helpful coz she talks and understands English well. The pho was great during breakfast, the room very clean as well as the bathroom. We stayed until the 23rd with a Ha Long Bay cruise thru the hotel. Nice place and near to the lake which we enjoyed just by walking around Old Quarter and French Quarter.

This hotel is in the heart of the old quarter. It is perfectly placed for exploring and situated in one of the quieter streets (if that's possible). The staff were excellent. We had a choice of a room at the back with just a window or at the front with a balcony. We went for the balcony, perfect for watching the streets coming and goings. The hotel brief indicated a DVD player was included, but was not. The room was clean enough but could have done with a bit of an overhaul as the shower was in need of a good de-scaling. The toilet seat fell apart on first use, but if careful with it it was fine! Left the room for 2 days for a boat trip, on return the hot water had been turned off to save power, they forgot to tell us how to turn it back on! Easily sorted, but meant for a cold shower in the morning. The next door neighbour kept birds on his balcony, that like to chip early in the morning and a street announcement speaker woke us with party political messages quite early. A nice hotel with nice staff.

A very good hotel great rooms, we had a double shower in the deluxe double room was very cheap and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Great experience and would recommend to anyone. The rooms were tidy tv reception could be better but Hanoi is entertaining enough! Good location walking distance to the lake, military museum and the prison, close to the nightlife and central to the old quarter

We stayed just one night but arrived at 5am the preceding morning. Even though we woke them up they were still helpful and even managed to smile. Every time we asked for something they did everything they could and more to help. The room was a good size, clean with a great bathroom and shower. All in all a great place to stay on a budget.

Great one-night stay in the middle of Hanoi, the owner is lovely.

Nice breakfast (choice of cereal & fruit or eggs with baguette etc.), good rooms. Our TV wasn't working when we first got in but there was someone up to fix it just after we rang.

Bathroom was decent (which is always hard to pick in Vietnam budget hotels!). Good beds, only a little bit of street noise.

We had a room facing the main street but were not bothered by any street noise. We arrived at 4.30am after a tedious train trip from Sapa. Everything looked shut up and we wondered what we would do for the next few hours or so, when someone appeared at the front door and let us in. We were then taken to the breakfast area and offered tea and fruit and then downstairs shower if we needed. Our rooms were ready by 9am. We had a family room with flat screen tv, good airconditioning and ceiling fan also. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which we really appreciated. The sheets and towels however have seen better days and the tiles in the bathroom/shower are extremely slippery, so I asked for an extra bath mat to place on the floor in shower. Better to be safe than have a nasty fall! No hand towels or face washers supplied.

We wanted somewhere to have lunch and the staff suggested Gecko restaurant which is just down the road. Turn right when leaving hotel and it is only a couple hundred metres down road on same side. Fight your way through the motor cycles on the footpath and enter the best eating place we found in Hanoi. I will write a full review later, but dont miss out on this one!
