Description: Located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, the Gourmet Corner restaurant boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. “Surprise Bonus at Hanoi Elegance Diamond Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2012

Unfortunately it was not until our last day that we had lunch at this delightful restaurant high on top of our hotel, the Hanoi Elegance Diamond. The food was really excellent and it is lovely to have such a good option in house when you are a weary traveller! We ate from the Vietnamese menu and everything was delicious.

“So So quality, not very special”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

Been to the restaurant after the massage at the Spa on the 2nd floor of the hotel, The restaurant was at the good place of the Old city and we can also enjoyed the view of the city. We ordered some quite basic food as my wife had tried Little Hanoi before. The grilled eggplant was not very special at all, not as good as the first taste at the other half price cheaper restaurant. Considering the service and the atmosphere were good, this is not our place to come for a meal - simply a place of good view and nice people.

Dear the readers on TripAdvisor,

Thank you very much for your time spent on reading this review.

I strongly believe that this review is accidentally posted on our listing due to the confusion from the reviewer.

From the day one, we have never had any menu item named "Grilled eggplant" or anything similar to it as mentioned in this review.

I really hope that our management response helped to clear the confusion.

Regards,
Andy

“Gourmet Street Food?!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2012 via mobile

I wouldn't normally suggest trying 'street food' anywhere other than the street....but I really do recommend the "Cha Ca Va Long" here....ignore the Western stuff and order this dish....white fish, marinaded in galangal, dill and turmeric then grilled and mixed with spring onions and red chillies in a clay pot....wrap it in rice paper with vermicelli, roasted peanuts, crispy shallots and herbs...dip it in the sauce provided, eat! Fantastic. Service is good too.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

On the 12th Floor of the Elegance Hotel, offering a great view of the lake & Hanoi City. Vietnamese & western food. We came to Vietnam for the food so we didn't even glance at the western dishes.
Our evening began with a beer promotion buy 2 get the third free. Spring rolls/ Nem Hanoi & Hue style for an entree on the terrace, fresh and tasty with salad and sauces.
Eventually we moved inside for dinner - bun cha and bamboo beef, moderate sized dishes but all food was lovely, lots of fresh herbs & ingredients.
Vin Blanc should be avoided but the Chilean red was good ( red label). Banana crepe & creme brulee for dessert were delicious. The total bill for 2 was about USD$43. The service was great, all staff were very friendly and helpful.
Would return in an instant!
