Description: Chefs Madam Van, who has worked in The Metropole kitchens for 17 years and Madam Kim Hai form a duo familiar with all the secrets of traditional Vietnamese recipes, such as Pho, the very popular Chinese soup that one can buy from vendors on every street corner in Hanoi. Every lunchtime there is a spectacular buffet: overflowing with a multitude of entrees and main courses. With cutting edge decor, candy colours and new veranda, dinner at the Spices Garden is a whole new experience, revealing the many different facets of Vietnamese cuisine and its finest specialities from both North and South. Hanoi nems and spring rolls from the north, prawns with lemongrass from the Hue region, Saigon chicken, plus an infinite variety of ways of preparing beef including a recipe formerly used for cooking tiger meat. Utterly unique, from its decor to the quality of the cuisine, this restaurant astonishes even Vietnamese guests.

“Great food, great ambience, you'll pay for it though”
Reviewed 8 November 2013 via mobile

Ate on the verandah outside. Pity about the smokers. Excellent vietnamese food - this is what they do - and a good range of dishes, great desserts. Eggplant side was a highlight. Loved the lotus and young coconut. Extensive wine menu but the (cheap) South African chablis was not a highlight. Good service at the start but it trailed off and got very sloooow as the place filled up. Bill was very high compared to elsewhere but that's a 5 star hotel or you. You pay for the atmosphere.

“Nice lunch!”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

My husband and I ate here once for lunch. We weren't very hungry, so we just ordered the Chicken Pho (soup). I am writing this review more to comment on some observations than to rate the food!
1) The restaurant is very beautiful in its decor and setting.
2) The buffet lunch that was being served looked fabulous!
3) We did not feel that we were ignored or looked down upon because we were only having soup. On the contrary, our server was truly lovely, and he kept giving us little "amuses bouches" to fill out the meal.

I'm not sure how helpful this review is, but we left the restaurant with a positive feeling about it.

“Great Breakfasts”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

For breakfast you can eat Eastern or Western. Try the omelette station for one cooked to order. If you like cheeses and cold cuts for breakfast, the ones at Spices Garden are excellent. Of course, the coffee is brewed in a pot at your table.
