i keep losing my review when i type it otherwise i'd write a thesis about how great this place is.

in a nutshell

* staff that go BEYOND
* great breakfast
* free upgrade to honeymoon suite for no reason - had AC, tv, dvd, fridge with free water and a bottle of wine and chocolate
* GREAT bathroom wtih massive showerhead and bath

i was so glad my halong bay trip was cancelled so i got to stay longer

an oasis amid the revoltingness that is hanoi

Charming 2 Hotel was excellent! In the heart of old Hanoi. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. I can't speak highly enough of the staff - incrediably helpful and friendly! Can't believe it was only $25 a night! Would recommend it to anyone!

Great location, nice breakfast, good value. The room was a little small but not as small as some. Overall a great stay, fantastic staff, very friendly. We would stay again. No pool unfortunately. The location is easy walking distance to anywhere in the old quarters but for $1 you can get a bike/tuk tuk to take you anywhere.

Just to echo what others have said about the superb service and excellent value. The staff went out of their way to be helpful - exceeded exectations in providing tickets, information, suggestions and generally made the Charming 2 a highlight of our first visit to Vietnam.

The hotel is modern, clean, with large rooms and all the amenities. You will truly feel at home here. I know that the reviews read "over the top" re: service, but the service is wonderful. I, too, love it that this hotel is located a little off the backpacker/tourist center (just by a few blocks) but I felt like I got more of a "real old Hanoi" experience by staying here. I'd give it a higher rating if I could.

Room Tip: I don't know that there is a bad room to be had. Part of the family had a room at the front of the hotel with a balcony and another part had a room on the backside of the hotel - both were equally good.

The staff of this hotel were so friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Sophie, Mary and Kate were especially helpful - anything from airport transfers, to helping organise day trips, to currency exchange, to suggestions for great places to eat. I can not thank them enough for making our stay in Hanoi a most enjoyable one. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast had many options too! The hotel is in the Old Quarters, within walking distance to the more busy shopping streets and close to many nice places to eat. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel! It really is what it's name says ..... Charming!

Room Tip: The family room is a good size for 2 adults and a child (or 2 children)
