We booked the charming 2 from recommendations from trip advisor and so glad we did. The moment we walked into the charming 2 we were made to feel at home. We only had 1 night there as we were traveling by overnight train to Sapa, The Charming 2 hotel booked a room in there sister hotel The Charming for us to use the morning we arrived back from Sapa, as we got in at 4;30 so we could rest, shower & have breakfast. They also recommended & booked their sister hotel in Hue for us with good rates and our flight to Hue. The room was decent size, clean & comfortable. Tasty complimentary mango's & bottled water in our room. The staff at Hanoi charming 2 were amazing, we would definately recommend this hotel, location great, staff gorgeous, helpful, amazing, happy people,

Hanoi was our first destination on a two week holiday in Vietnam, and the staff of Charming 2 made us very welcome. They were helpful and friendly and really enhanced our stay in Hanoi, helping us confirm bookings and train tickets etc. We were in Vietnam on our honeymoon and when the girls at reception discovered this they organised a surprise in our room involving party poppers balloons, rose petals, flowers and a cake! About 8 of the staff were crowded in the room to surprise us when we came back for the day, it was hilarious.

The hotel is located in the Old Quarter, easy walking to the main sights and ideal for checking out the night markets, street food and general crazy motorcycle experience! The staff in the hotel were great at recommending places to go to eat and provided helpful maps to help us orientate ourselves. There are some good things to see in Hanoi but the best thing about it is the atmosphere, it's just electric, great to just wander about and absorb the sights, colours and smells.

Our room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. We had been recommended the hotel by friends who live in Hong Kong as a good budget option and it didn't disappoint. We found the service the best out of all the hotels we stayed in, despite it being the cheapest. We will definitely return if we find ourselves in Hanoi again.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at-- and in my long-winded way I'm going to tell you exactly why... from the moment we first walked into this place, we were treated with so much kindness and warmth from the staff...we knew that we had made the right choice for our Hanoi accommodations.

We were greeted at the front desk by Mary, and the manager "Johnny" was there as well. After we finished registering, Johnny sat down with us in the lobby to show us a map of the area and answer any questions we had about things to do while in town. He made some good suggestions about some possible side trips we were considering...not trying to steer us in any particular direction, but just providing advice about what was most feasible for the amount of time we had.

We were a bit early for check-in, but they said that we could use one of the vacant rooms to shower or take a nap if we needed, while they were preparing our room. We told them that wouldn't be necessary, so they then invited us to relax in the cafe downstairs, use the wifi, help ourselves to fresh fruit and beverages, etc.

When we got to our room later, we were definitely pleased. In fact, I can't think of anything bad to say about the room. It was spacious, fresh smelling, super clean, and stylishly appointed. There were a few bottles of complimentary water provided, as well as a plate of assorted fresh fruit. The air con worked perfectly (very important with Hanoi's hot weather and bad smog). The windows were nice and thick so we really didn't hear any noise outside at all. The water pressure in the shower was good and the temperature consistent. The bed was comfortable...there was plenty of storage for our luggage etc...there was even a computer in the room for internet. Yep, the room was great...but it didn't even matter anyway because they were so nice to us! They always wanted to know what we had been doing when we came back in from exploring the city. And they genuinely seemed interested in us...not just brown-nosing...they treated us like good friends.

Kate at the tour desk helped us book some train tickets to Hue, and recommended that we stay at their sister hotel there, the "Holiday Diamond", which as it turns out is also ranked #1 on Trip Advisor... and for good reason-- these people just know how to run a great hotel business. All other hotels should follow their example! It's not complicated...all you need to do is CARE, which they clearly do...and they deserve infinite success because of it.

I could go on and on and on about all the nice things they did for us...and you know what, I think I actually will...

Sophie, another one of the front office ladies, arranged for some rental bicycles to be brought over for us. When we went on our train trip, they sent a bellhop/doorman on his motorcycle to follow our cab to the train station, so he could make sure that we got situated in our sleeping car. On arrival in Hue, they had someone waiting for us at the station to take us to our hotel. When we returned to Hanoi for one more night at the Charming 2, they had upgraded us to their best room...it had a giant balcony overlooking the neighborhood, and there were flower petals on the bed. Our train had arrived at 5 am so we were pretty worn out. No hotel has a check-in time that early, but they very graciously offered us a temporary room once again to shower and nap, which made all the difference in how we felt for the rest of the day. The cheerful girl who worked in the cafe always made us smile with her loud enthusiastic spirit.

Did I mention also, that the location is great...
and the price for all this was like nothing. I know everything in Vietnam is pretty cheap, but so often you get what you pay for.
We have never experienced service and comfort like this anywhere, even for 5-10 times the price.

Thank you CHARMING 2 for making our stay in Hanoi so enjoyable!!!

If you haven't been to this part of the world before then be prepared for your senses to be assaulted. If it isn't the noise of the motorbikes it's the constant honking (beeping is a better word) of horns, initially that is where my concern lay with the location of the hotel more or less at a busy junction in the Old Quarter. I needn't have worried though because whatever was going outside was not reflected in the calm of the inside of the hotel where any request was met with a smiling face & an enthusiastic attitude !! As it turned out the location was ideal as it allowed us to wander around the old quarter at night without ever being too far from the hotel & sanctuary from the hustle & bustle of the streets. In terms of value for money it was incredible, we had come from Kuala Lumpur & had been paying nearly three times as much for 1 night as was the total for 3 nights in Charming 2 Hotel, ok not a completely fair comparison as the hotels did differ in terms of star rating but nevertheless I was still amazed at the level of accomodation & service we got for our money in Hanoi. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the old quarter area.

Had a great stay at charming2 , The staff couldn't do enough for us especially Mary
They even organised a suprise birthday party for a mate.
We were hijacked by another hotel during the taxi ride from the airport to charming 2, They told us that our hotel had double booked & they were taking us to a better one.
When we got there we realised it was a scam & found our way back to charming 2 ,minus 1 bag.
Mary at reception spent hours trying to track down our bag for us.
Great location , great staff, great room. The breakfast was all you could ask for
I would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone

I spent two nights in this hotel last week, after traveling elsewhere in Asia for business. I could not have been more pleased. Service was way beyond expected, ultra-friendly staff, and a sumptuous breakfast buffet that was worth the price of the room all by itself. I was treated with care and respect and made to feel at home and even as one of the family! I would love to return with my wife to share with her the unique experience of this hotel. Truly a high point of my trip to Asia. -- JG, Carrollton TX

We booked a 4 night stay as the start of a 6 mth journey through S-E Asia. The hotel is located right in the Hanoi Old Quarter. At first is looks hectic, loud and smelly but don't worry you learn to appreciate and even love this part of town. We spent most of our time just sitting on a little stool outside of a pub, sipping beer or coffee, looking at the variety of people passing by or having interesting chats with strangers.
About the hotel: when we arrived they upgraded our room, free of charge for the first night, just because it was available. We had some problems with the shower and the safe but they immediately fixed it after we mentioned it. The staff is very (for some maybe overly) friendly abd helpfull. It's not the chapest place around but the location and the staff surely make up for that.
