This hotel has far the best service that I have encountered and I stay in 5 *resorts everytime we holiday and this is only a 3*. Mary on reception was amazing . When you arrive it is scary right in the middle of the hustle n bustling street but you get used to that very quickly. They helped with booking our Halong Bay trip ( we went with V spirit cruises- boat could do with updating but the food was amazing and the views were amazing) ...They recommended Highway restaurant round the corner-food was excellent...The only negative if I was to be really petty would be that the towels need replacing with new fluffy ones ...this hotel is within walking distance tonearly everywhere...In closing I cannot emphasize how the service all the staff gave was 5*.very highly recommended . The only reason that this hotel is 3* is because it doesnt have pool/gym/spa etc but has everything you need for a stay in this busy city...

Room Tip: Book the honeymoon suite if you can

We stayed at the Charming II Hotel from Feb 8-11. Our stay here was amazing, here’s why:

-I’ve stayed in numerous hotels in several different cities and the friendliness of the staff is second-to-none by a longshot
-Bed mattress was super comfortable
-Room was quiet (stayed in a high floor, not street facing)
-Good size room. Comparable to a typical-sized Sheraton in North America, or 4.5 star resort in Cancun
-Bathroom was exceptionally clean (I get grossed out easily by filthy bathrooms, but you could almost eat off the counter tops here – exaggerating but you know what I mean)
-Awesome location, right in the mix inside the Old Quarter, which is exactly where you want to stay while in Hanoi
-Beers in the room fridge only cost $1 US each (but they’re cheap everywhere!)
-Not that you stay in a hotel to watch TV, but there’s an abundance of English channels available
-Breakfast is amazing, and arguably worth the cost of the stay in the hotel alone. You select from either or both Western and Asian cuisine, plus fresh breads and fruit. Premium coffee, and the freshest juices. You can order as much or as little as you prefer. In terms of presentation and taste, you can tell the chef cares about the end result, every time, every dish.
-Value: you get enourmous value for the amount you pay. It’s relative to the satisfaction you’d feel for getting a fully-loaded Camry for the price of a base model Corolla.

The staff care:
-Donny and Johnny (the managers) set the tone through their rigour in always providing top notch service, from asking about our day to literally refilling our coffees

-The front desk girls especially Sophie, Amie (I think is her name) and Tracey are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area – shops, museums and restaurants. They anticipate what you’ll need before you even know it. Plus they have pretty smiles.

-Door boys were always on point. They even ran out to take photos of us after our tuk tuk bicycle ride

Stay here. Honestly can't think of a reason why one shouldn't!

Room Tip: High floor, not facing main street. Room 803 was perfect.

This is a great value hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. We had all the amenities you would expect from a three star hotel, but what really made our stay was the friendly and helpful staff. Such a difference from the downright indifference we experience when we stayed at a five star hotel in HCMC. Right from the first moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and were treated like new friends rather than customers.

The location is perfect - close to all the major shopping areas, major attractions and good food. Would be very happy to stay here again if the occasion arose.

Hotel location is very good and hotel staff welcoming!

After arriving back from our trip to Halong Bay. We discovered a mysterious credit card transaction from a Hanoi based company called 'Holiday hotel' on our bill. The hotel staff was very helpful; they made some calls on our behalf and advised us to block the transaction.

Fortunately before we did this we traced the transaction back to the hotel we had stayed before in Hue, so we did not have to do this, but it was quite a scare! Always keep the credit card receipts!

Such a friendly welcome to Vietnam! Great location on 'Chicken Street' right in the heart of the old town and close to all main tourist sites. The rooms are good and the breakfast also very good - but the staff really make this place and are simply great. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
