I'm a solo traveler and stayed here for a total of 6 nights, although not all at once because of side trips to Sapa and Ha Long Bay. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is located in the Old Quarter and is about a 10-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake. The excellent hotel staff is warm and friendly and can help you with any questions or issues. Breakfasts are great. You choose from a menu but can have as much as you want. It was a good way to start the day. The rooms are clean and there are nice touches of flower blossoms in the bathroom and on the desk. I booked an Executive Double room and was happy with what I had on the 6th floor (window and light). Watch for promotions on their web site. The one I got was a free airport pickup since I stayed for three nights and booked directly via email. I was worried at first about booking directly, but I had no problems booking via email. Emails were answered quickly. It was simple and the subsequent transaction was secure. Enjoy your stay at the Charming 2!

Room Tip: I like light. There's probably more light in rooms that are on higher floors.

We only stayed for one night at the beginning of our holiday, then one again at the end. It was a wonderful introduction to Vietnam. It is situated right in the old quarter, a very easy walk to the lake and all the surrounding streets. The staff were incredibly welcoming, especially on our return. The accommodation is very clean, with comfy beds in nice rooms decorated in warm tones with timber finishes. Bathrooms are small but very clean and adequate. A good breakfast is served in the dining room downstairs.

From the moment we got to Charming 2 Hotel we were made to feel very welcome, Mr Danny and Sophie on reception were great, full of knowledge and enthusiasm-you simply dont get that in the UK.
Our room was nothing short of amazing- big, nice bathroom and sparklingly clean.
Breakfast was nicely presented and we even got freshly baked bread and pastries along with our fruit.
A lovely stay!

This is a small boutique hotel which I personally would grade 2 to 3 star : But with a '5 star deluxe' staff !! Once again this is not a luxury boutique place.
LOCATION : In the old quarter of Hanoi at the junction of two narrow streets. The buildings around the hotel require a long overdue facelift. Next to the hotel is some sort of a bamboo sellers depot, and an old buddist temple in front.
HOTEL : Hotel is rather small, eight floors with 3 to 4 rooms per floor. Its is neat, very clean and comfortable. Single lift is more than adequate. All rooms have a desktop computer with wifi and are ensuite. We initially stayed on the 8th floor in the executive room (with an extra bed for our kid). After our trip to Halong bay, we were upgraded to the family room on the first floor. The room is much bigger, has a balcony and faced the road in front , but there were hardly any traffic noise after 8 PM. Sleep quality was good.
FACILITIES : The staff in this hotel are simply fantastic. They speak good English. From the doorman to the manager, every one is cheerful, pleasant and very-very helpful. They simply go out of the way to keep you happy and comfortable. We felt secure and at home - a very important feeling for tourists in a strange country. All rooms have Desktop computers and wifi. There is a tour desk in the foyer and a restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant provides a simple western style or local complimentary b'fast. Lunch and dinner could be ordered from a menu at the reception and the hotel sources it from outside and serves it in your room or restaurant. If you are making overnight trips to Halong bay or elsewhere, the hotel will keep your main luggage in storage free of charge.

To Tracy, Danny, Johnny and Mary a big thank you from all of us. You guys have made that extra effort to make our holiday in Hanoi so memorable. In all our travels, even in top starred hotels, we have never come across hotel staff who are so warm, so helpful, well informed and dependable. Thank you !!!

Room Tip: Choose the family rooms. They are bigger and worth the extra 10%. They are in front have a balcony a...

Very easily one of the nicest hotels we stayed in during our Vietnam trip. The staff were always helpful, enthusiastic & polite. Mary & Tracy in particular were wonderful and should be used as models for the whole industry.

There's a reason this hotel gets such good reviews-it deserves them!

We stayed for 2 nights during our trip, our flight was delayed by around 2 hours but we were still greated by a happy and seriously helpful driver who we were so so happy to see.

Upon arrival at the hotel we had an amazingly warm welcome which was just great on such a hot loooooong day! The children received lots of attention from the staff (and sweets!), after a moment to drink our freshly squeezed juices, cool and calm down we were delivered to our fresh fab room, clean, bright and lots of extras, even a bottle of wine and a DVD player, wish we had packed an emergency Peppa Pig DVD! There were petals on the bed along with almost a zoo made of towels! Complimentary fresh fruit, water and wine, great air con, super comfortable bed, hot/cold shower in the bath, good size fridge with drinks in at normal prices, loads of TV channels (a guide would be good so as we could locate the cartoons quickly!), safe balcony, good quick lift, computer in the room, good quick easy WiFi, generally good condition through out, breakfast was quick, tasty and plentiful, literally order as much as you want! We ambled in after a busy day at gone midnight with two sleepy children in the buggy, mentioned we were interested in the water puppet show which we knew was likely to be sold out the day before and by the morning they had all the info on time/prices/availability and by the time we were eating breakfast someone had driven to the theatre and delivered the tickets to our table, no charge for the service! The staff are genuine and all lovely, they are honestly interested in what you have done for the day and full of tips and ideas, they can not do enough for you. Never once did we feel like it was all for tips, in fact I don't think we tipped anyone until the last morning.

The hotel is in a great spot for going out wandering, it's the old quarter, pavements are tricky with a buggy and even just on foot so everyone walks on the road, bikes everywhere, lots to look at, not really hassled but people to buy things, lots of local people going about their business, lots of street food, restaurants, bars, clothing shops and points of interest with walking (with children) distance. Crossing the road is tricky but you just have to go for it, they dodge around you, scary but it just works!!

Totally recommend this hotel and it's location, enjoy!

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful the staff are at this lovely little hotel. In all our travels throughout the world,we have never encountered such warmth, caring, and genuine enthusiasm that you find here. From the young men opening the doors for you to Danny and his amazing staff you are made to feel like you are the most special person in the world and it is their pleasure to help you in any possible way.Absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them and everything is done with a beautiful smile. Our stay was short, just 3 nights, but it was a highlight of our tour in Vietnam. When we were leaving, every one of the staff came out to our taxi and gave us hugs and we truly felt like we were saying goodbye to family. Beautiful, beautiful people!
