Grat value, quaint, stylish and comfortable. Most helpful staff and very reasonable prices. All located in the throb of the city, within walking distance of many of the attractions. A cycle rickshaw is fun but hazardous, especially if you don't firmly agree the price first.

Room Tip: Standard was fine!

I have just recently returned from staying at the Hanoi Boutique Hotel 1 and i can honestly say that ALL of the staff excel in their duties and are the lovliest people i have ever had the pleasure of meeting while staying at a hotel, thank you all so much for your kindness and help.

Room Tip: Ask for room 702 or any other one with a shower.

I should start this by saying that a) I am still here and b) this is the second stay in the space of a week. We had booked via an agent both times rather than directly with the hotel and I think that is something hotels make sure you suffer for. As I write this, admittedly at 4pm on a Friday, there is a jackhammer currently drilling away in the room above or below us. It's hard to tell. No word of warning from the hotel, and a vague apology from the clueless girl on reception. It started at 5am this morning, and this is the second day of it. When asked how long it will continue, I got a shrug and a smirk from the girl in reception. Apparently for "minor repairs". I'd say its more likely to be a sizeable demolition job based on the noise. Our first stay was for three nights, in the executive room, 706, which has a balcony. Small room, but the balcony makes up for it. We then went to Halong Bay for two nights - not arranged through the hotel as they wanted to charge another 20% on top for the privilege - and arranged to stay another four nights on our return. This time we decided to splurge and booked a suite, 606. On first impression, it's big, spacious, bright with a big bathroom. That's where the good stuff ends. It is very badly musty. There's clearly been a flood at some point, probably from the room above, as there are huge water stains on the ceiling. There are also patches of mold in the bathroom, which would explain the musty smell. The toilet reluctantly flushes. In all, this is a lovely room that no one has bothered to maintain. And that sums up the hotel entirely: no one is bothered. From the reception to the doorman, to the waiter at breakfast (also awful). About the only people who do seem to show any kind of service, are the cleaning staff. And we know that because their supply room is right next to our room and twice now we have had to step over them as they sort out of the trash collected during the room cleanings. We paid $90 a night for this experience. To say we are angry, and feeling very very stupid for not going elsewhere, is a massive understatement. I cannot recommend this hotel and we are weighing up whether to cut our losses and run very, very fast away from it - or rather crawl, as this is in the Old Quarter (location is it's only redeeming feature). For a couple of nights in a hotel which doesn't sound like a building site, it's very tempting to book somewhere else - and that's even having pre-paid for the room. More fool us.

Dear Sir/Madam

Warmest greeting from Hanoi Boutique Hotel

First of all, we would like to say extremely sorry for all the bad experience that you'd got in your stay
Beside it, we also want to explain a little bit, and we do hope that you can understand for the happend
We have a construction in 2 days, from after breakfast untill around 4 pm, we had noted it and said sorry for all the clients. We also would like to offer the city tour for the clients to let them not stay in the hotel at that time (depend on them). The other construction started at 5 am, but that was our neighbor, not from us, and it was out of our control, so we could not do anything
An other thing, we do not understand why you said that if you book the tour with the hotel, it is 20% addition... Cause if you can understand that it has many many types of tour, it could not have same quality. You can also find many others tour ( same itinerary) but very difference (from Food, the room, and even the service). We do not charge 20% more

Once again, we feel really sorry cause making you uncomfortable during your stay in our hotel
We do hope that, we could have an other chance to serve you better

Thank you very much for your review, cause it's helping us become better and better everyday

Wish you and your family have a happy new year, healthy and successfull

Beautifully decorated hotel with a true boutique feel and I would have given a higher rating if not for the following:
- noisy - both from within and outside .
- we stayed for 2 nights in total , but in different rooms. The first room - 405- is tiny, right next to the lifts ( noisy) . The room is located above the kitchen resulting in strong cooking smells at 6am.
- the second room 406- is much bigger , but with a strange damp smell.

Positives include:
- cosy bar, relaxing bar area
- nice and helpful reception staff

Room Tip: Avoid rooms above the kitchen.

The hotel is located in the old quarter. On one hand this is cool, on the other this is loud!
It was also the first time in Vietnam that we dealt with relatively rude people at the reception.
The rooms are definitely not big enough for three people with the exception of maybe one per floor - these were however, unavailable!
It is an older hotel with its own charme, but not always "suitable"!

We are sorry to know that you were not happy here. But frankly, your ideas remind us looking back on ourselves seriously. You know, we are in the heart of the old quarter, the space is limited, so it's difficult to have big room in an old quarter hotel. We have different room type, and only executive and suite can be large enough. I think, at least I have a good news to let you know that we have to changed all aircon system in the hotel. Before we use 1 way (cool) aircon only and now they are all replaced by 2 way aircon (coll and warm), so it's no longer cold in the room during the winter.
Regards,
Nguyen Thuy Duong
