“5 star hotel with 6 star service”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

I was given a task to organize company event in Hanoi around in mid Dec 2013 and I have no prior experience visiting Hanoi before. Our group is 19 pax with 4 nights in Hanoi. Ms. Kim Thu, the director of Sales was so helpful. She helped me to source for restaurant, teambuilding event company and day tour company. Without her help, I would not able to organize the event in Hanoi and she is my saver. On the day of arrival to Hanoi, the Chief Concierge, Mr. Thai was so helpful and he helped us to book lunch venue and provide free transfer. He also helped me to book massage session for my team with transfer arrangement. His smile and helpfulness are so memorable. Ms. Kim Thu also sent Ms. Nam to company me for welcome gift selection and site inspections on my arrival day. Ms. Nam was very cheerful and willing to help. She worked extra miles and hours to company me for my gift purchase. Ms. Nam also companied my Regional GM for souvenier purchasee at Old Quarter. She is such an agel.
The hotel is new and all the staffs there are very helpful. The Chef, Mr. Duc and Mr. Quan were so helpful on 19th Dec, our dinner and dance event.
The hotel has very unique bed and the rooms are all decorated in victoria style in moden way. There is huge iconic carpet below the bed and the rest of the floor is made of wood. It made the room feel warm.
The breakfast is superb, their pho is better than Pho 24!
I will definitely recommend this hotel to others and come back for personal trip.

Room Tip: For business traveller, classic/standard room is already good and roomy. If you on vacation, please...

This hotel has child friendly staff! I travelled with my little grand daughter (toddler) they went out of their way to extend our check out time till 3.30pm so that we can have the facilities for the little girl! The hotel is clean and almost perfect location to explore Hanoi city. Breakfast was brilliant! Loved the place. Our room faced the Main Street and it was a bit noisy but acceptable since everyone seem to use their vehicle horns all the time! But do ask for a room facing the atrium if you are a light sleepr.

We stayed at l'opera for two nights in December. The decor might not be to everyone's taste but we thought it was different and made this hotel stand out. I especially loved the high beds and found them so comfy.

Kids loved to sit in the atrium which being December time was lit up with funky Christmas lights and decorations.

Breakfast was adequate. Nothing over the top but enough choice to keep us happy. On the whole though I would say the food was a disappointment, not because it wasn't tasty but rather because the choices were a bit limited and the menu unimaginative for an otherwise interesting hotel.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel twice in late November / early December and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We had a L'Opera suite which was well furnished with a VERY comfortable bed, a seating area with sofa etc and a work area with desk. The bathroom was large and had a free standing bath as well as a separate shower. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We liked the decor of our room and of the hotel as a whole, quirky contemporary was how it was described by my wife.

Because we had a suite we had complimentary beer, wine etc in the bar for a couple of hours each night which we made limited use of. Also tea and coffee was availlable for us in the bar 24-7.

One thing which I do want to comment on is the staff. Without fail they were lovely and couldn't do enough to please us. Always on hand, always a smile and unfailingly cheerful and helpful.
We had breakfast eachy morning in Cafe Lautrec which was good with both Western and Asian dishes, we also had a table d'hote dinner there one night which was a bargain for the price charged (and very good as well).

The hotel arranged for a car to collect us and return us to the airport which was a comfortable start and end to our stay.

We walked to the old town each day. It took 20-30 minutes depending on where in the old town we needed to get to so because we like to walk it was an ideal location for us, and a little quieter than the old town aas well.

It's unlikely we'll ever go back to Hanoi (which we really enjoyed), but if we do we'll be certain to stay here again.

Choice of food as well as quality and taste is at 3 star hotel level at best. Furniture in my suite was outdated and in VERY poor condition. Sofa and chairs looks like they were picked up from some garbage place. Bad smell in bathroom. Bathtub not working. Absolutely negative experience. The only good thing - a mattress on bad was very comfortable and sleep was good. Extremely poor quality and food choice for breakfast. At best such place should be rated as 3 star hotel, not five star place. And price should be adjusted accordingly.

Dear Valeriy P,

Thank you for taking the time for posting your comments, even though, we are at an absolute loss to understated what incited such a vitriolic description of our property. You occupied one of our finest suites with a large terrace overlooking the Hanoi Opera House. The hotel only opened up a little over 2 years ago and was designed by DWP, a world-renowned architecture and interior design company. All furniture items were especially designed and newly made for this hotel. Whilst the appreciation of the design is of course entirely a matter of personal taste, it seems the descriptive terms you used appear to be a little harsh, if not alltogether inappropriate.
I am also at a loss to understand what precisely you felt was missing from our breakfast selection: besides a fairly comprehensive buffet area, we have a live cooking station for egg dishes and Vietnamese specialty breakfast items, on top of this we offer a full al carte menu, which features many luxury items, which come freshly prepared to order from our kitchens. Quality products are exclusively sourced from reputable suppliers, many of them imported. Please rest assured that the comfort and well-being of our guests is taken extremely seriously by us and I would like to invite you to please me directly with your recommendations what else you feel we should include in our selection.

And whilst we appreciate your most kind comments about our bedding standards, I would like to apologise for the problem you experienced with bad smells in the bathroom. Immediately upon receiving your comments I personally inspected the room in question and was unable to detect any unpleasant odors, however, the issue is being investigated further by our engineering department to find out what could have possible caused, just to be on the safe side.

Sincerely,
Bodo Klingenberg

New hotel small room right in the business center of hanoi. Walking distance to main tourist sight. Very good for business stay, serving nice breakfirst with pho. Pricey because of the location while the room quite small, design somewhat remind atmostphere of a university dorm. Nearby there is very nice coffee shop named Swing, a good small Japanese restaurant.
