The staff here are incredible! We stayed here for two weeks on business, and we couldn't have been happier. It truly started to feel like our second home and that's because of the staff. Everyone is so friendly, helpful, and a delight to talk to. James and Bella, in particular, went above and beyond!!! James sat with us for hours helping us plan (and book) our travels for our next stops after Hanoi, and he was incredibly patient with us while we took ages trying to decide. When my colleague left her flash drive in Sapa, he arranged to have it brought to the Tirant and then he sent it to us in Ho Chi Minh! Bella was always happy to help with recommendations and she also helped us problem solve with some of our outside bookings, always with the warmest smile.

We loved it here so much that we used it as our base returning here after Sapa and Halong Bay. And they even let us store some of our stuff at no cost during these trips even though we were no longer staying there!

The location is fantastic. The breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we had in all of Vietnam, lots of options. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The rooftop deck and bar is awesome. There was construction while we were there and it did not impact our stay or our love of the place!

We moved here after checking into a hotel we weren't happy with and feel so lucky to have been able to get a room. We stayed twice, first in their 'cheapest' room (without a window) This didn't bother us at all, we found the room cosy and still very clean. Next we stayed in a larger room with was also very clean. We had no issues with drains Tec inthe bbathroom, so maybe the management team has worked to sort this out? The staff in this hotel were fantastic, they went out of their way to help us and ensure our time in Hanoi was first class. In particular Zim was very helpful. We booked a number of tours with the hotel, following and trusting their recommendations - they didn't let us down. Yes there is some building work on the roof but the Times were 'fair' times (8.30-6ish) and we were often offered drinks and snacks as an apology for the works being done. If I ever return to Hanoi, it would be my number 1 choice for somewhere to stay.

It isn't fair to give the Tirant less than a 5 star rating because of the building works which will be finished by the end of August and I am sure the result will be worth it. Let's get the bad stuff out of the way. Yes, at present the building works are quite noisy, especially since we were on the top floor and we had booked the hotel partly for the roof terrace, lounge and pool which was out of action. Also not so good was the short notice the hotel gave us, we were already travelling by the time they emailed us and yet they had known for weeks or months before that. On the positive, they gave us the type of room we wanted and a free hotel transfer.

Tirant was the most luxurious hotel we stayed in (we also tried the Elegance and the Essence). The room quality was super, lovely bright room, big windows, front balcony - never sat on it, too hot! The large bed was comfortable (for Vietnam, which likes its firm beds). Quiet double glazing ensured a peaceful ambience despite being on the front, excellent air conditioning. Nice bathroom. The location was great in the heart of the bustling Old Quarter close to the lake, but not really with a view of it, not that that matters. The street outside was also not quite as frenetic and overwhelming as the other hotel streets. The service was good, with an excellent recommendation for a cooking course. Breakfast was a varied e.g. poor juices and croissant, but excellent noodles and poached eggs.

Room Tip: High up, balcony, front facing is best

We were there whilst the building work was going on in the pool area. This didn't bother us in the slightest as all construction occurs during controlled hours during the day. Breakfast is excellent and staff really helpful in helping us book our halong bay trip!

Great hotel and great people

We stayed here for 2 days which was not long enough, the hotel is in the heart of the old quarter a although there was some work being carried out in the hotel at the time ( which should be finished soon) and although we had a couple of hiccups - lost phone etc our stay was fantastic and the staff where so helpful - a big thank you in particular to Bella will definitely come back

My family and I stayed at the Tirant hotel in July and had a great time. We had rooms next door to each other which we had requested. Both our rooms were large and our room had the biggest bed I have ever slept in. Our rooms were at the back of the hotel and our windows literally were up against the next doors wall, you could touch the wall it was so close(like all the buildings in Vietnam). They were renovating the roof top pool whilst we were there so we didn't get to use it which was a shame. There is a lovely rooftop terrace with amazing views over the city, also a nice casual restaurant/bar up there which has nice food at a good price. The best thing about the hotel is it's location, it is right in the center of the old quarter, the minute you step out of the door its straight in to the hustle and bustle which we loved, it felt very authentic and was part of the experience of Hanoi. We would all stay there again and would recommend to everyone. Nice breakfast buffet also

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel so it was very quiet. It is a small hotel and would ask for rooms o...

Rooms a bit weird . Hard to find light switches. Security safe
Not bolted to the floor. Shower in both rooms leaked due to blocked drains and dodgy tilling.
outdated hotel - glad they are renovating ,
Staff... Helpful , smiling and polite apart from the grumpy breakfast manager. she didn't like us turning up 2 minutes early for breakfast!... on time by our clock early by hers! Not much fruit or fruit juice selection, and the coffee was crap
! The bellboys were so sweet always taking our bags and opening the doors... the travel desk also printed out some e tickets for us too, so thanks for that.
If you desperately want a hotel with a pool then this hotel is probably not the place to stay over the next few months.
