“Value for money hotel”
Reviewed 23 June 2012

I booked Rising Dragon Palace Hotel for our family holiday in June 2012. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located at quiet Old Quarter. It is a small modern hotel. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Room size was just right to us, All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Service was comparable to those 5-star big hotels. We liked the breakfast very much. Although it was simple, it was good. If the hotel has gym facilities, it will be awesome!

This is one of the best hotels we stayed at. It is located in a quiet street of Hanoi within a walking distance to the old quarter (15 min) . Rooms are modern and comfortable plus the rain shower is really nice...
Food is ok although not the best in town. But the service is absolutely fantastic, the staff made everything to help us from booking the theatre and train tickets to general advice about the best tour companies and restaurants. They brougt us to the train station and made sure we found the right carriage. The staff really and genuinely cares for the customers. Don't hesitate to give them a go. We would definitely go back.

Stay here, awesome service, really look after you. This is a lengthy review but read on.

This hotel probably made our stay in Vietnam. We had a deluxe room on one of the upper floors. The decor is modern, clean and tidy and well kept. This hotel is down a back street so it is quiet at night, good night's sleep. The breakfast was great, a lot of variety and lots of it. But what really made the stay was the service.

We arrived late in the evening and were met with very friendly staff, they showed us a map of the surrounding area and where the hotel was in relation to everything. The real treat however came when we were booking trips. We were going to walk around the tour operators, get the best price, haggle etc etc. but we stopped at the hotel travel desk just to get a baseline. The prices for Ha Long Bay 1 night cruise and Sapa were a touch over average, but what made us book was the service we received way over what we expected.

We had booked two nights at the hotel and were then going to head to Ha Long then Sapa. This meant getting back from Ha Long late afternoon to get an evening train to Sapa, getting back from Sapa at 0400 to get an afternoon flight to Da Nang.

Not only did the hotel let us leave luggage with them while we were in Ha Long and Sapa, but while we were in transit, they gave us a room where we could shower and chill while we waited for the train or plane. This was a real god send after Sapa as we were wacked from the train journey and a 0400 would have had nowhere to go.They even threw in breakfast! We didn't have to pay for any of that extra service.

How much over and above are we paying for these trips we thought! But it worked out only a bit more than booking it ourselves, and when the bell boy took us to the station for the Sapa train, he negotiated an upgrade for us so we had our own cabin. That definitely made it worth it.

Room Tip: Recommend getting the hotel to send a taxi to pick you up at the airport. We didn't and regrette...

We absolutely LOVED this hotel. Although the rooms are a bit cozy, the service is amazing. From the moment you arrive, a staff member greets you, brings you tea and asks how he/she can help you plan your activities. All the staff are extremely well-trained and warm. They are so helpful and happy to chat about their city and country. They are all university trained and speak beautiful English. The hotel is centrally and conveniently located. The breakfasts are excellent and have a huge variety of choices, including made to order crepes and other items. One of the staff members helped us plan a last minute trip to Sapa and spent quite a bit of time searching out train tickets for us. Later that evening, after his work hours, he saw us on the street and stopped us to tell us he had made the arrangements. The staff actually get to know you and upon your return from a day's outing always ask where you went and what you enjoyed. We were so pleased with the service that I spoke with the young manager the day we left. He explained that all his staff are trained in the hospitality industry to serve in 5 star hotels and do their own training to adapt to the boutique hotel atmosphere. Simply put, they are all about service and graciousness without being obsequious. There was construction going on next door, but we brought earplugs and it didn't interfere with our enjoyment. (Hopefully, that will be over soon.) No question that if we went back to Hanoi, we would stay here.

Room Tip: Ask about a room that might be away from construciton.

Stay total 5 nights with group of friends in mid May 2012. The hotel location is about 10 minutes walk to the water puppet show theatre and the lake. It is quite convenient indeed. At the first day of arrival, we encountered central air-con problem. Staff was helpful by changing room & providing additional fans for us. Buffet breakfast was good, delicious with reasonable choices. Free WIFI was provided and some rooms were equipped with lap tops!! The staff also recommended a few nice and inexpensive local restaurants for us. The only drawback was the construction activities at the adjoining buildings. The workers started work at 0630 in the morning!!

Overall we have a pleasant stay and would stay here again if coming to Hanoi.

My wife and i stayed in this hotel in January 2013 for several nights. Room wise, it is modernly designed, clean, and well-equipped. We received a complementary bottle of wine, cake, and fruit platter, which was a nice gesture from the management. The only downside is the small room size , and during our stay there was a construction going on next door so i couldnt really enjoy my sleep. Breakfast was average but staffs were very attentive and service was great. Receptionists were nice and always helpful. My wallet got stolen in the night market and they were helping me writing the police report. Thanks to the manager and staffs for taking care of that.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view.

My fiance and I travelled to Viet Nam after visiting Tokyo and Bangkok on a ten day vacation. Our first hotel stay in Viet Nam was the Rising Dragon Palace Hotel in Hanoi for three nights. Even before arrival I was amazed at the wonderful service provided. The manager made arrangements for us to take a one day tour of Halong Bay via email correspondence even before arrival and, when it became necessary to do so, changed the schedule as requested with no problem whatsoever. He also advised of his concern of our taking a taxi from the airport and offered a car from the hotel to meet us, which we accepted. It was a nice change to not have to haggle with a cab driver when we'd been travelling some distance already. The hotel is located on a quiet street only one block away from restaurants, shops, etc. with a police station located immediately next door. Having not visited Viet Nam before and not knowing what to expect, at first we were taken a bit back by the surroundings ... BUT ... any and all doubts disappated when we entered the hotel and were met with the most amazing staff ... we were both overwhelmed at their willingness to help in any way they could. I agree with another who said all hotels should follow the example of the staff of the Rising Dragon Palace Hotel. Our room was a bit small, but was clean and modern and more than met our needs. We ate frequently in the restaurant at the hotel and were not disappointed. I would most definitely stay at the Rising Dragon Hotel again and would recommend to anyone intending to visit Hanoi. My fiance and I were both very happy with our choice to stay there.

Room Tip: We chose a "deluxe city view" room with a balcony which I loved ... although the view was...
