“Wonderful accommodation experience in Hanoi's Old Quarter.”
Reviewed 2 August 2012

1. Truly value for money for such quality hotel.
2. Excellent location to stay to see Hanoi's Old Quarter before it's taken away by the modernization.
3. Staff were helpful and friendly.
4. Hotel food was excellent.
5. Better stay experience than some other 5star hotels in Hanoi.

Good location, in the Old Quarter . Staff were very helpful, even if the map they provided was a bit tricky to work out!
Room was small, but provided the necessary. The bed was so close to the wall, it meant you banged your ankle when trying to get round it. Bed was comfy though. Rose petals on the bed was a charming touch. Bathroom divided from room by glass door, so not very sound proof. There was a curtain to pull across. In the shower room, unless the wooden blind was lowered, one was looking straight into the next door room!
Good breakfast served downstairs. We ate dinner here too, it was delicious.Good value and lovely salads. We had to leave early for the airport and staff kindly made us a packed breakfast to take with us.

Plus points : My three colleagues and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel staff were extremely polite, always willing to lend us a helping hand. The door man always opened the door when we alighted. They also were very helpful in arranging tours for us to Halong Bay. Breakfast looked small but there was quite a variety. They also had a breakfast menu, where u could order stuff and they will make it for you on the spot.

Minus points: We heard about the noise situation previously and requested for two rooms away from all the noise. The receptionists at that time, assured us that the drilling had stopped and that the construction work had ceased. However, on the last two days, the drilling started at about 7 am and lasted for an hour.

The walls between the rooms are paper-thin. I was able to hear my friends' conversation, which was taking place two doors down.

BEWARE of the night markets in the Old Quarter. There are many petty thieves and they will try to steal your belongings. My suggestion is to keep out from the night market if u can. There is not much of things to buy from there anyway.

Other than these few setbacks, this hotel was pretty good. Would go back there again if I chose to stay in The Old Quarter.

The rooms were clean. The bed was comfy. The breakfast was very good. The stafff however, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Whether it was just advice on what to do or where to shop in the old town of Hanoi, or booking day trips, ,or recommending the best snake resturant in the the city they went far beyond anything you might expect from a $40 per night hotel. I highly recomend this hotel for anyone wishing to stay in Hanoi.

Room Tip: Higher floors probably have less construction noise

After arriving exhausted in Hanoi, it was nice to have somone hold the door open for us and all our ags on our arrival at the hotel but the help didn't end there. We were greeted with smiles by all the staff and a welcome drink on arrival. One of the girls on reception not only gave us a map but circled various points on the map, suggesting places we should go and explaining in impeccable English how to get there. We were told that our room had been upgraded free of charge and we were given a beautiful little room overlooking one of the side streets. There was some construction next door but even before we mentioned it the receptionist told us that they would move us immediately if it was a problem, however, it was barely noticeable and we spent most of our time out of the room anyway. We also came to realise on our travels that during low season there is construction everywhere so can't be avoided.

Although we were simply student backpackers the staff made us feel as if we were the most important people in the hotel and helped us at every turn. Overwhelmed by the busyness of Hanoi we booked our trip to Halong Bay through the hotel, again upgraded from a 4 to a 5* boat at no extra cost. The staff organised our pickup and when we returned to the hotel the next day to pick up our things they offered the use of their shower facilities for free.

We had already booked our tickets for a night train to Sapa (although they sell these too if you're oranising last minute) but still organised a pickup, even going as far as to ring our hotel for us in Sapa to make sure there would be someone waiting to pick us up the other end! And again, they offered us a room for free when we returned 3 days later, allowing us to catch up on some well-needed sleep after our train arrived in at 5 in the morning.

The hotel was very clean and felt extremely safe. It is also very well-located in the Old Quarter. The restaurant was great; wonderful Vietnamese and Western food and an excellent breakfast, all served by very friendly waiters.

All in all definitely the best hotel I've ever stayed in and more like a 5* - the best service ever!

We stayed two nights. Because of a confusion over dates (on my part) we turned up a day early - no problem; Duty Manager Mr Kun went out of his way to organize rooms.
Breakfast is a buffet with great fresh fruit and a choice of pancakes and eggs.
Rooms are exceptionally clean and well presented; only negative is the walls are paper thin and you can hear all that goes on.
Would definitely stay again

I booked Rising Dragon Palace Hotel for our family holiday in June 2012. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located at quiet Old Quarter. It is a small modern hotel. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Room size was just right to us, All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Service was comparable to those 5-star big hotels. We liked the breakfast very much. Although it was simple, it was good. If the hotel has gym facilities, it will be awesome!
