“Very good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2011

Hanoi Grand Hotel is located in a quiet side street on the southern edge of the Old Quarter and about a 10 minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake which is the heart of Hanoi. We actually walked with our luggage from the airport minibus shuttle which stops at the Vietnam Airlines Office - very convenient!
The hotel, opened earlier this year, looks quite unprepossessing from the outside with a narrow, nondescript frontage onto the street but our qualms were assuaged when we were shown to our room on the 6th floor. Our room was very spacious, attractively furnished and with everything you would require for a comfortable stay - nice beds, big bathroom (shower over the bath so be careful!), big TV with a multitude of channels, reliable WiFi, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities (there is tea/coffee available all day down in reception). The room was very light and airy with a big window.
Staff was extremely attentive and helpful without being overbearing. We organised a day trip to Tam Coc through Miss Tam at the front desk for the same price as was available at the numerous agencies everywhere and the quality of the trip was excellent as they used Go Asia Travel.
The negative for us was the breakfast. It was very basic with a limited choice and served in a rather poky room. But it was sufficient for our needs.
For the price we paid I would have to say it was great value - not glitzy, luxurious but very nice indeed.,

Ask for Tam Nguyen. Herself and the staff are greatly helpful and kind.

Tam was able to assist us get a scooter for 7 USD/day, transport to airport at 15USD and an excellent trip to Halong Bay 119USD/pax - we took Galaxy Cruise, worth the price.

The hotel room is equipped with a computer with wifi access. The hotel is located in a small but quiet street at night (good for you to sleep) and busy during the day (so you can enjoy seeing what people are doing).
The breakfast menu is small but very nice pancake. We would go there back again.

You can go with peace in mind

I stayed at this Hotel in August for a week in Hanoi, I would recommend the location in old French Quarter walking distance to everything, the staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble for them, they can organize tours if you wish, I always booked my taxi through them, never once got ripped off, they booked taxi for my return trip to airport at half the price I paid on my arrival.

Great location map is proved telling you the sights, shopiing etc. The room I had was very spacious and new with all the amenities required with large flat screen tv with lots of channels to choose from for those nights you dont feel like going out, plus a computer in the room with great connection speed if you dont have laptop.

Breakfast was included with a good selection of Asian or European menu. Everything said I could not fault this hotel and the price was fantastic.

Jane Hindmarsh.

Room Tip: I had a room that faced onto the street which is not a busy street and heard no street noise at all.

It is a small and modern hotel. Located in a charmful and quiet street without annoying scooters. Clean and large rooms. The restaurant service was not as we expected for that hotel category. They ofer a very poor range of choices (not buffet) with arguable quality. The recepcionists are a little greedy they charge top dollar even for a small bottle of water. They are eager to get comissions for everiyhing without offering a real service. Don't forget to bargain every prices, Not well experienced staff for that range of price.

Absolutely lovely and very helpful staff so far! We only stayed one night at the hotel, after request they arranged a very nice boat trip to Halong Bay, Room very spacious and modern equipped with everything needed. Location is good in the Old Quarter of Hanoi, not far to Hoan Kiem Lake and then Bars/Restaurants.It is a great hotel to stay for tourists and worth re-visits for businessmen who want to enjoy a nice Vietnamese experience. We will be back next time !

This hotel was really nice. It is a new hotel so it is very neat and clean. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful with booking trips around Hanoi. The location was good too. It is in a quiet lane but very close to all the attractions. Its a nice 5 to 10 min walk to Hoan Kiem Lake past all the shops and nice restaurants. Most of the interesting sites are all within walking distance.

We stayed here for two nights, and would give some comments about this hotel.
The location is great and the rooms were so clean, comfortable and so spacious. Breakfast was super, wi fi was reliable and so quick, and the staff were very friendly and honest, even they took us to the train station for Sapa without fee. With all information above, we would stay Hanoi Grand Hotel again if we come back Hanoi
