Hanoi Triumphal Hotel

This hotel is in the middle of Hanoi and most of the tourist sites are a short walk away.
The staff were exceedingly friendly and very helpful,. Their command of the English language was also very good. The buffet breakfast was good but not a lot of choice as the hotel only had about twenty rooms.
Do not expect Hilton Luxury as you will not be paying Hilton prices, but you will receive Vietnamese friendly, helpful, hospitality.
The aircon in the room worked well, but our shower plumbing could do with some updating: it was a bit Heath-Robinson!
Overall about three point eight stars, worth the stay but be open minded.

I cant believe all these reviews. I booked there for 4 nights and only lasted one. The place is old and rundown and the carpets are gross. I tried 4 rooms before finally choosing one that I thought was ok. After the first night I just couldn't bring myself to stay there any longer. Maybe these reviews are from people with no standards but as far as Im concerned it is definitely not a place that I would ever go back to. There are soooo many nice hotels in Hanoi - to stay here is madness. The other thing that was gross is that it is a smoking hotel - so if youre eating your breakfast don't be surprised to see cigarette smoke wafting through the air. I think a lot of these reviews are from the people that run this hotel cause if you saw the condition of it you wouldn't stay.Sorry about the bad review but seriously it was depressing.

Room Tip: My tip for you travellers is don't stay here.

We think the hotel was ok for a short weekend getaway stay in Hanoi. Location was walking distance to the night markets and seemed pretty safe. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and neat. Wifi was good too. Breakfast was ok and could be better improved... glasses were stained with dust and marks but its ok unless you're fussy with that. Seemed pretty understaffed in the kitchen.

As a party of four we enjoyed a fabulous few days at the Hanoi Triumphal hotel and experienced the brilliant facilities and service so many reviewers have spoken of. Returning a few days later after a cruise on Halong Bay where tragedy struck, the hotel staff cared for us in our fragile state like we were family. What we realised through this experience is that its not that difficult to get service right when everything is going well, but it takes a special team to really care and show the empathy and hospitality required when guest find themselves in the most awful of circumstances when abroad. We will never forget what this team did for us and hope to return one day to continue the rest of our Vietnam

Overall is very good except that the hotel was understaffed esp in the kitchen that when all guests go altogether for bfast, some orders are missed. Need to have backup manpower whem needed.

Yet the hotel made to accept our luggages for 2 nights when we did our halong cruise for free. Brilliant!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as a base to go to Sapa and Halong Bay. From the minute we arrived the level of service from the staff was exceptional. All the staffs went out of there way to help with all our needs to the point of the doorman taking us to a shop to get phone credit and install it on our phone to make sure it worked. We even arrived at 5.00am in the morning from an overnight train from Sapa and the offered us a room to have a shower and sleep till our room was ready. We offered an upgraded room as it was available earlier. We took this room and it was a suite room. This was exceptional, a large room and very tastefully decorated. This was our last stop in Vietnam and this was highly appreciated. The hotel organised tours and Even booked restaurants for us. The rooftop restaurant and bar were excellent with great views over the city and the food at reasonable prices. Breakfast was excellent with good variety of food. Hot water and shower was excellent. Location was good in the old quarter close to the lake which was walking distance to most places. I would highly recommend any one looking to stay in a smaller boutique hotel in Hanoi to stay here as it had the best staff service in all the hotels we stayed in for our month stay in Vietnam. Hanoi Triumphal was a truly diamond find..
