I went on a Bloom Microventures Day Tour to Soc Son.

This gave me the unique opportunity to meet rural folks, see a beautiful landscape, enjoy a traditional Vietnamese meal, and spend it in the company of socially-conscious tourists. The idea of combining responsible tourism and micro-finance is exceptionally innovative and engaging. Seeing micro-finance in action was personally rewarding, especially considering, that we met the borrower who would directly benefit from the loan.

It was obvious that the Bloom staff is greatly engaged with their borrowers which goes above and beyond how typical micro-finance institutes operate. The Bloom staff was exceptionally friendly and professional.

Please do yourself a favor (and the borrowers) and make the time during your travels to go on a tour! It's worth it.

If you're in Hanoi for holiday or work, this is the most authentic and enriching tour you can choose-the experience will really be something to write home about! I easily booked a tour with the enthusiastic and friendly Bloom Team, and the whole day was a wonderful, fun filled adventure, from start to finish. What a great memory to cherish-knowing part of my tour fee went to improving the livelihood of a sub-poor family. I am grateful to have been part of this tour-thank you Bloom Team!

I really enjoyed the trip organised by Bloom Microventures. The tour guides were really helpful in explaining the purpose of their unique tour offering - the money spent to get on the tour is lent to poor borrowers to help them become self-sufficient. On the tour we saw how the 'micro-finance' money helped poor women send their children to school or buy livestock in order to live. The borrowers were very hospitable, and it was an honor to be welcomed to their houses and learn about their lives. I've never been on a tour that showed such a different side to Vietnam than the normal tourist attractions!

The tour was full of interesting activities, such as fishing, going to rice paddies, swimming in a lake and watching a festival for children at a local school in the evening. Great local home-cooked food was served, and the countryside was beautiful.

All in all a great tour- really interesting with excellent tour guides and if you want to head off the beaten path and learn about the real Vietnam, I highly recommend it.
