We are on a small group tour of Vietnam (6 people) and the Palace was on our agenda today. It seemed to be a "time filler" as we were catching a late flight out of the Hanoi airport and the Palace is only about 15 minutes from there. We were all very pleasantly surprised. It is one man's private collection of ancient figurines and buildings, and his modern art (the owner is an artist). It fits together very well. There are hundreds of small statues and other ancient figurines around the grounds. A very peaceful location. I would highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed this trip, it was so peaceful and charming. Our only advice is to plan your return carefully....we arrived by bus and taxi, but after leaving we couldn't find any method of transport back to civilisation...

The place is great, quiet, a lot to see as a personal collection and it is a great place to spend time together, to relax and see the culture and spiritual life of Vietnam

You soon come to realise that Hanoi rules the region. That includes Laos, Cambodia and South Vietnam. It's a one party state and it shows it.
