Clean sheets, clean toilets, good breakfast!
We booked for a 6 room all girls dorm, however on our last night, the dorm was switched to a mixed dorm, without prior notice.
Tips: toilets are cleaned daily with towels provided, however, try to shower early in the morning or early in the evening, otherwise the toilets would be rather dirty by then.
Great location as it is located nearby beer shops and a strip of bars.
Friendly staff who gave useful advice on trips to the outskirts such as Halong Bay and you get to book tours with them.

Without a shadow of a doubt this is one of the best hostels that I've stayed in since travelling through SEA. When you walk into the lobby you feel like you've come to wrong place as it looks like a hotel!
The staff on arrival were helpfull and attentive and most imprtantly not pushy.
The rooms are immaculate and your sheets and towels are changed everyday.
And as for the breakfast! Well it's worth coming here for that alone! Situated on the 10th floor you come across a smorgasboard of bacon, sausages, eggs (cooked to your liking) Vietnamese Rice and noodles, fruit, bread, mini pancakes, marmalade, tea, coffee, juice........the list goes on. At $6 this Hostel is a steal for the service you get and the rooms you sleep in. The Bathrooms whilst narrow are lovely and clean and the shower is amazing, you can choose between a rain shower, normal shower (which is nice and powerful) or a foot shower.

On the second floor is a games room which consists of pool table and dart board and a seperate movie room which has comfy chairs you can just sink into!

It's also very well located in the Old Quarter and is walking distance froma all the major sights and attractions, it's only a 5 minute walk (depending on how many bikes you have to dodge!) to Hoan Kiem Lake.

Don't look anywhere else in Hanoi! Come straight to the May De Ville Hostel!

This is a really good hostel. We stayed in a double room (actually had a double bed and a single bed) which was really well priced, really big. It had a tv and a laptop computer to use (though it was really really slow). The room was a touch noisy, but nothing that prevented us from sleeping.

It's centrally located, close to a busy Bia Hoi corner. They have a tour booking desk, but aren't too pushy about using it. We also had a really early check in that they charged us extra for, but given that we had a poor nights sleep on the night train, was worth it.

First place we stayed in Vietnam, theres a sign on the street pointing to where it is down the side street, its right in the heart of hanoi so very busy and conjested, but good none the less, they were really helpful and when my friend got into trouble they helped him out really well, I mean you cant ask for more, rooms are clean and tidy, was the only place in vietnam that had advanced electronic locks that were nice and meaty as aposed to the million hotels I stayed in, its near lake hoam kiem and a supermarket (down the alley way next to playboy shop) on the west side of the lake, this hostel was £4 a night for us staying in a dorm, with included free buffet breakfast, value is well up there.

I stayed in this place for 8 days
and I loved every minute there.

The rooms are extremely clean, towels are changed every day, sheets are deliciously clean.and fresh

The breakfast is absolutely first class, I think it's a 4 or 5 star hotel wiil be proud to present thie breakfast

staff were doing anything they can to please me-and it's pretty hard to please me :) I can be a pain in the butt smetimes. I am not the one who is giving credit so fast.

I would like to indicate especially Thuy, Dao and the guy at the travelling desk- You all made my stay in Hanoi very pleasant-Thank You.

I will definitely will share my experience with other travellers- I did already, on the train on the way to Hue.

Keep up the GREAT work guys and
Thank You again for giving the 'Home' Feeling

Enjoy your stay at this Friendly place

You would believe that you had arrived at a five-star Hotel. From the friendly doorman throught the ultra modern marble reception, to the 10th floor Dining room with stunning views over the Old Quarter, where breakfast is served, (this is no ordinary breakfast - this is a feast) & its included! Eevry detail is an experience, a super comfortable Movie room & separate pool games room, Fresh white clean towels in the granite & glass, bathrooms. Daily made up beds with fresh clean linen. Oh yeah - believe me - I have never had a better experience. The Staff - all the staff are most attentive to your every need and will arrange your tours,, secure room your luggage, have your laundry done & much much more. I shall be back - dont miss out. I have stayed here for three weeks and had the time of my life, right outside is the Old Quarter and it is incredible

Couldn't recommend more highly - have stayed in a number of hostels over the years but this place is a rare find. If your looking for somewhere to stay in the old quarter get it booked. We had it recommended to us by some Australian travellers and they were spot on, go and see for yourself.
