I think this is the newest in this small chain of hotels and there is not much else I can add to the other good reviews. We entrusted all our travel plans to them spending time in the hotel, then off to the Topas Eco Lodge and Sapa then a trip to Halong Bay. The arrangements were seamless, and whilst possibly a little more expensive than other tours (there are some real bargain basement offers around town), the quality we got for what we paid was amazing, leaving unwanted luggage safely at the hotel whilst we went off on trips, when we returned it was ready and waiting in our rooms. Accompanied to the train station for the overnight Sapa train (it can be quite confusing but the hotel guy took us to our compartment and then went off to get us cold beers) and met us when we returned. The location of the hotel is superb, in the Old Quarter and right next to bia hoi corner. The hotel happily got cheap, reliable taxi's whenever we needed them (you have to be very careful of taxi scams in Hanoi, stick to Mai Linh or Taxi Group, they are reliably metered and really cheap, most places just over a pound sterling). Breakfast was very good, great choice and they start early so you can eat before any early starts. The service is impeccable, going above and beyond any hotel we have stayed in. Sparkly clean with great modern bathroom. Can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: For more space go for a junior suite, it also includes free minibar (beer, water, soft drinks, snack...

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and found the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Due to a booking mix up our reservation was not confirmed. However the hotel manager went out of his way to sort the problem out and we stayed one night in the Elegance Diamond which was equally divine. This hotel is well located in the Old Quarter and a short walk to the Hoan Kiem Lake. Would recommend this hotel to our friends visiting Hanoi. Despite being in the centre of the Old Quarter, the hotel was very quiet inside. The breakfasts were amazing and easily satisfied my morning need for food!

Room Tip: Room 408 and 505 are quiet and 505 is a junior suite.

Stayed for 2 nights and booked tours through the travel desk to halong bay and sapa. You will get the tours cheaper on the street but worth the extra few quid. They will literally spoon feed you and attention to detail was excellent. When arriving back from sapa they even gave us a free room for 6 hrs until our flight. Breakfast is amazing and the staff won't be bettered. Also try hanoikids for a tour of the old quarter and its free! They even refused a tip! Easy to see why essence os the #1 hotel.

I chose this hotel because of it's wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. Apart from the hotel booking, they also booked our 2 day, 1 night Halong Bay tour and organised a guide to take us on a walking tour of Hanoi. All correspondence by email prior to our arrival was answered promptly. We were met on arrival in Hanoi as pre arranged and driven to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel, we were treated as VIPs by the wonderful reception staff. The hotel stored and looked after our suitcases while we were on the Halong Bay tour and on our return they presented me with a birthday cake and the staff all sang Happy Birthday! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Hanoi! Apart from the exceptional staff, the rooms are clean and well appointed and the location of the hotel in the Old Quarter is very convenient. The only disappointing thing about our time in Hanoi was the weather - it was cold and wet!

I stay in Ha Noi with my friends sometimes.
But this hotel is the best in the hotel we stayed in the past because staff is so friendly and kindly.
Our room is Derax and extra bed but there is a moderate space and interior was wonderful.
So, we could spent a great and perfect time. I would like to stay here the next time.
Thank you so much.

One of the best hotel experiences of my life, mainly due to the fantastic staff. On my tour of vietnam my friends and I realised that we hadnt booked accommodation for our last night in Hanoi, so I quickly trawled the web to see what I could find. We wanted to end our trip on a high note, so although essence is only 3 stars (there were better 5 star hotel deals on agoda), being the #1 on trip advisor secured the booking. Although I had high expectations essence definitely lived up to them. We were welcomed to the hotel with a local drink and a chat with one of the staff, who provided us with a map and talked us though some of the best tourist sites and shopping, which was a major help! They then walked us up to our room, which included a DVD player and laptop! The hotel was centrally located, great for our end of the trip shopping, and right near the water puppet theatre (which I would also recommend). The food here was also great, we really enjoyed our choice of room service for dinner and the breakfast was fantastic! They had a small buffet with standard breakfast choices, baked goods, toast, cereal, as well as a small menu for eggs and pancakes, delicious! When we checked out the next day they helped us secure a taxi to the airport, and upon realising we had a lot of left over dong they even walked us over to the bank to exchange it for australian dollars. Had a fantastic stay at the Essence, biggest complaint is that I was only able to stay 1 night! Glowing recommendation, I would definitely stay again. Still can not understand how it is only 3 stars, in my experience it trumps most 5 stars!

Yet another plaudit for this great little hotel, smack in the middle of the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Quiet, clean, modern room, free laundry, good breakfast. The best thing of all is the staff, I have never been to a hotel where the staff care quite as much, they are proactive and really go out of their way to make sure that all is well. They handled all of our arrangements to Sapa and Halong Bay, which worked like clockwork. I can think of a thousand large international hotels who could learn a massive amount from the service culture at this little gem. Do not hesitate to stay here.

Room Tip: Top floor doesn't have a lift
