“Superior Customer Service”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

We were originally booked into another Hotel but due to room unavailabilty we were asked to check into the Aranya Hotel instead with a room upgrade. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like royalty absolutely nothing was too much trouble Nguyen Quoc Cuong saw to it that our initial inconvenience was almost instantly forgotten as we were shown to our room which had a small balcony overlooking the street. A special mention to Jan at the front desk who has a great sense of humour but went above and beyond in looking after us. As an example I needed an adaptor to charge my iPad a young porter was sent out at night to purchase me one which cost me 10000 vnd (50 cents). We also needed to store our bags while we caught train to Sapa this they did and also allowed us to have a shower when we arrived back after overnight train trip. All I can say is that the team provided the best customer service by far during our trip to Vietnam, simply 5 star service. The hotel itself was excellent clean well equipped room with a lovely restaurant attached. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants value for money and Superior customer service!!!

The staff at this hotel take it from being a nice little hotel to a fantastic one! They are so friendly and helpful! We were here for 4 or 5 nights in total and really enjoyed it. The hotel itself is fairly new and it is tastefully furnished and decorated. Our room had a window into a courtyard/atrium type area (inside) which was nice - buildings in Hanoi are long and narrow and close together (like touching) so there are not many outside window options generally! The breakfast was good too with a combination of menu and buffet (order your eggs, Pho or pancakes and the rest is buffet).

For people who want more info, here's some stuff that was not important to us, but I have noticed people comment on for hotels in other reviews:
There are showers not baths
Twin room has single beds
You might not have a window to outside
- if you do, remember the street can be noisy
Like most of the hotels we stayed in, the hot water can be extremely hot and also run out by the middle of the 2nd person's shower (wait 5-10mins and you're good to go).
The building next door did have some work going on which did mean a jackhammer for 2 days - not the hotel's fault of course and it was only for 2 days. The only other 'rude awakenings' was other guests yelling down the hallway or standing in their doorways talking - again, not the hotel and was something we came across regularly!
You are a short distance from the main tourist sites in the old town - but seriously, it's not that far and there are heaps of interesting things to look at on the way!

We loved this hotel and would highly recommend it!!

Room Tip: We specifically asked for a back room - I am a light sleeper. This meant an internal window but you...

Perfect location. The hotel is located just besides the main road, which is very accessible to the shopping district and art galleries. Friendly staff and their extraordinary services makes you feel like home. Would love to come back to Hanoi and stay there over and over again.
A must visit place in Hanoi that you will never regret.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a great city view

Staff very friendly, good breakfast, good room clean with confortable bed and a real tourist service, a nice place to be in the center of hanoi. It's better to ask a room with a window ! It is close to the lake (5 min) and to quarter of 36 streets ! The staff was very cool with me so I decided to come back for one night when i needed to take my flight in Hanoi. I keep a very good souvenir of this place !!!

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, good internet coverage, breakfast is ok but look for kitchen specials like pho or omelettes.
Perfect location between old quarter lake and Ho Chi Minh museum.
Very good.

Room Tip: ask for rooms on higher levels.

I booked a 4D3N stay at Aranya Hotel (including 1N on the V Spirit in Halong Bay) through Jan and she was lovely, helpful and gracious on email and in person. It was great being picked up at the airport on arrival and be welcomed by the staff at the entrance of the hotel like old friends. They gave us a big room for the children while we had one in the quieter back of the building. The rooms were comfortable and quite clean (our shower unfortunately had hair on the soap tray) and we slept well most of the time except when other guests moved in and out of their rooms - I guess the rooms needed more soundproofing. The reception staff were great ambassadors for their country, being kind, friendly and at the same time professional. The hotel was situated in Old Hanoi and you could walk to most places including Minh Jazz Club and this fantastic open-air restaurant recommended to us by Jan. We are usually more used to staying in Intercontinentals and Sofitels, but chose to stay in Aranya because of the good reviews and as we wanted to be in the old quarter. Breakfast was served on the 7th floor and was quite good, with a gentle and always smiling young waitress assuring good service. We ate lunch there on our first day and also ordered room service for the children and whatever we ordered was really quite good. If you have the time do try their body massage, those ladies talked too much between themselves (negative point), but they were good at what they were doing (and we have tried massages all over the world). They should have wooden flooring for their spa, dimmer lighting and better atmosphere (e.g. aromatherapy) and the masseuses could also dress more professionally. And do remember to bring money for a tip (and they do deserve it) as they actually would ask for one! All in all we enjoyed our stay in the Aranya and would recommend this boutique hotel to those looking for a clean, friendly and safe place in the old quarter.

Room Tip: The rooms are big roadside, but naturally they are also noisier. If you are a couple, go for the one...

We were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff when we arrived at the hotel doorstep. We were almost immediately attended to with the check-in and briefing on the 4d3n itinerary. All of us were impressed with how efficient, friendly and helpful the staff were despite being a small boutique hotel. We stayed in the deluxe and superior rooms. They were clean, comfy and spacious.

We would definitely choose this hotel again!
