“Excellent location, outstanding staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

Great location in the old quarter, because of its proximity to Sword Lake it is also really easy to find again when you have been roaming around.

We had a small issue getting in to our room on check in due to a plumbing issue. The staff offered us another room for an hour, but we chose to leave our luggage and go for a walk while it was fixed. The shower did not drain properly during our stay, but it wasn't a problem if showers were <5min.

The sound from the road can be pretty loud at night; I'm a very light sleeper but I just used some earplugs and it was fine.

For the rest, the room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were really outstanding, so friendly and helpful. They gave us some great recommendations for local food places, as well as offering to pack us a takeaway breakfast from the buffet on our last day (we had a tour leaving at 7am). They also invited us to a little staff part to celebrate International Women's day - we were too jetlagged to take them up on it, but really appreciated the invite. The service we got here beat the 4-5 star hotels/resorts we stayed at for the rest of our stay in Vietnam. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for three nights at the Meracus Hotel and had a room with a balcony at the front. We can't fault the staff, the room, service and breakfast which were all excellent, but our only negative would be that the rooms at the front are pretty noisy as they are on to the road, lots of beeping scooters and in the morning (every morning) there is a loud speaker announcement right outside which carries on for about 30 mins at 7am. I am sure that the back rooms are alot quieter though. The staff were really helpful, chatty and friendly and sorted out anything we asked, our room had rose petals on the bed when we arrived and on our last night they left us a little present and a handwritten thankyou card - a really nice thoughtful touch. Breakfast was the best we had in Vietnam. Great location too as right in the old town and right near the lake.

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a Cambodia and Vietnam holiday and it was well worth it. In Hanoi old quarter and virtually walking distance for most of the sites. We were in one of the smaller rooms but there was ample space for our stay. Room very clean and it was the little touches like flowers on bed on arrival and then again 1 day before departure that made the stay enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and always provided great service, they even helped map out a walking route to see the sites. Basically they couldn't do enough and it was always with a smile. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range from continental or local cuisine. Definitely would recommend this hotel. Big thanks to the staff.

We stayed here for 4 nights after travelling and sleeping in many hotels throughout Cambodia and Vietnam. The staff are the best; nothing too much trouble, they did everything to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. Beds and pillows are excellent, unlike many we had experienced. Breakfast was good, plentiful and varied. Some of the rooms are a little small, so ask for a larger one. Facilities in the rooms are very good;the shower is great and each room has a computer.
The location is great, you are right in the centre of the old town.
Thank you to 'June' and all the staff for making our stay such a pleasurable experience.

Room Tip: Choose one of the larger rooms with 2 beds.

This is a modest hotel with a narrow frontage set in the market area and close to the lake. But what a jewel of a place. Initially we were offered aninterior room, perfectly adequate, but we were fortunate to be given an upgrade at a much reduced rate by the lovely June, customer services manager, and an angel on earth.

The room was imacculate. Spotlessly clean, well-appointed and with the most comfortable beds I have ever encountered in a hotel. A blissful experience.

Breakfast was a delight. Great quality, and considering the size of the hotel, only 21 rooms, offering an amazing choice. Of course, there is no bar snd the lounge is small, but this hotel exudes quality.

And what service! Never have I enjoyed such extraordinary comfort, such attention to detail, such impeccable kindness, such unreserved care, snd all achieved with winning smiles. I simply must return some day.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony would be a bonus

If you want thorough spoiling in a Boutique Hotel, choose a few days at Meracus. The team are very welcoming, extremely professional and really helpful. The service is great and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. ...WE took their 'guide service' to the train for Sapa. The 200,000 dong was well spent as they organised our taxi, escorted us to collect our tickets, waited with us until boarding and escorted us and our luggage to our sleeper seats... Staff made our reservations at Koto and Bobby Chin's restaurant and they were quick to call reliable taxis for us..We had a delightful stay and this small hotel, like many in the area, is a short distance from lake Hoan Kiem, and you can walk to the Water Puppet theatre from Meracus. From our first welcome drink to a personal guided tour through the services in our beautifully decorated room, to lovely comfy soft beds for Aussies, we sure felt as if we were home. That's part of the aim and service of Meracus. A High quality breakfast buffet with attentive wait staff was another bonus and the room maids were great also... Meracus accomodates the early arrivals from trains with coffee and an offer of a shower to freshen up for the day-- well before a room is available...If the front shutter is down - in early morning, be game and ring the green bell on the side wall. The lovely doorman will open up and greet you. WE are SO LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT STAY at MERACUS, just over a year since our first visit.

Room Tip: Rooms are compact. We had common ventilation but no view out----but were not worried as we only slep...

Recently stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel is spotlessly clean, staff are very friendly and the location is excellent. Just on the edge of the Old Quarter, 2 mins from Hoan Kiem and on the doorstep of all the sights and smells. Ask for the highest floor possible as it can get noisy, but overall a superb hotel and would highly recommend.
