I've never encountered a hotel staff as eager to please -- without being intrusive -- as the staff here. When I needed a new iPhone charger, one of the young men who was serving at breakfast walked with me across the street to explain to an electronics store to help me (I don't know enough Vietnamese to explain) -- and then refused a tip. I happened to mention that morning that it was my birthday that day, and when we got to our room that afternoon, it had been decorated with rose petals and balloons, with a scrumptuous cake at the center of it all. Our room was small but we had an amazing balcony. And the location in the Old Quarter, just a block from Hoam Kiem Lake and walking distance to many cool places, was perfect.

I travel constantly and live by Trip Advisor recommendations.....but I am usually too lazy to post. Here, though, I have to make an exception. This little hotel nestled in busy old-town Hanoi is as close to perfect as I've ever found. Nothing is beyond the capabilities (and pleasure to please) of the hotel staff. In addition to the normal good cheer, taxi fetching and translation to locals the staff (1) arranged for a tailor to quickly whip up 3 new suits (2) went to the pharmacy and figured out what potions would put me back on my feet after a bad case of bronchitis and (3) miracle of miracles, brought breakfast to my room (unsolicited) as they noted I didn't show for my normal 6:30 AM coffee fix. Add in little going away gifts and lots of smiles and it was the best 25 days on the road I have spent in a long time.

Room Tip: Room 601 is the best....sliding glass doors onto full veranda....just don't book it when I am co...

We stayed 5 nights at Meracus 1 and we loved every minute of our stay there.

The hotel is in a brilliant location 5-10 minute's walk from the lake and all that is around it - for example wonderful restaurants, cafè's and the water puppet theatre.

I cannot praise the reception, kitchen staff and bell boys enough. All were ultra helpful and ensured we were comfortable at all times.

The rooms were immaculate with lovely touches like the petals, cards and gifts on the bed each day.

We got a new weather forecast printout placed on the bed each day.

The plasma TV, desk and complementary fruit and water were all nice to have.

The bathrooms were of a very high standard and spotless.. good multi jet shower with good shelf and hanging space.

The balcony was useful to pop out to for a smoke or just to sit outside for some fresh night air.

The restaurant was nicely laid out with a great buffet selection for breakfast. Lots to choose from. The staff waited on us hand and foot and were extremely good at their jobs.

Thank you Meracus 1 staff for making our stay so special in Hanoi.

We stumbled upon this beautiful hotel with its amazing staff and couldn't have been happier. Everyone was so friendly with suggestions, they checked prices with multiple airlines knowing we were still going to book online (thus no personal gain for them) .

French furniture, perfect staff and amazing buffet breakfast.

Bed was so comfy :)

Stay here ... Relax.. It's a good decision !

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the service is excellent. The staff could not be more attentive and helpful. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and warm to talk too and took great care to keep us happy and special. The breakfast too was very good with a huge choice available and the quality of food is second to none. Location if the hotel is just where you need to be in the heart of Hanoi. Fantastic, i'll wanna come back if i travel to this city again.
Best hotel, best service!!!

Room Tip: book through website is cheaper.

We used a great travel company called Citrus uk, who booked us into this Hotel as well as several others. We were extremely pleased with the Meracus. It was beautifully decorated...not just reception and other public spots. The staff could not be faulted, they were, young, enthusiastic, and were desperate to be of service.....all done with a smile.
Food, while there was no restaurant ( not surprising due to the number out on the streets!) breakfast was a joy, wth staff again ready instantly to make pancakes, omelettes, etc.
Rooms, were slightly small....once again no different to other city Hotels, tea and coffee making available, two bottles of water were given each day.
On leaving, the hotel was also helpful, stay in the room until 12.30pm, then leave your luggage with them and a shower room was made available, plus towel and soap and shampoo.
What more can i say re this hotel, it was a pleasure staying there and would stop there again next time we go to Hanoi.

We stayed here twice on our visit to Vietnam, in total for 4 days. The hotel is very conveniently located for the Old Quarter and close to the lake. We arrived at approx 8 am on the day we flew into Vietnam and the staff were very very helpful. They did their utmost to try and get a room ready for us as soon as possible, which we were very grateful of as we were tired after a long flight. All the staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us
The breakfasts were very good, the beds very comfortable, the air conditioning good, the rooms very clean ( but could have been a bit bigger) and the attention to detail was excellent.
